With Welterweight legend Georges St-Pierre out until at least this fall with a torn ACL, the UFC was without a champion in its 170 pound division. Nick Diaz, originally slated to face GSP last fall before skipping important pre-fight press conferences, was removed from that match up due to his irresponsibility. He was replaced by former WEC Welterweight champion Carlos Condit, whose only loss in the past five and a half years was a close split decision loss to Martin Kampmann in his UFC debut.

Shortly after the switch, GSP suffered his unfortunate injury, and was put on the shelf indefinitely. The UFC, unwilling to wait, set up the always outspoken Diaz against the consistent Condit for the Interim Welterweight title. Meaning the holder of the title, whoever that may be, will face GSP for the undisputed title eventually. If GSP happens to be out for too long, they will be promoted to undisputed champion. If you happen to be a pro wrestling fan confused by this situation, it would be similar to the CM Punk- John Cena WWE Title, or the Razor Ramon-Shawn Michaels Intercontinental title situations.

In one of the closest fights in UFC history, Diaz and Condit battled it out for five entire rounds. A 24 minute stand up exchange saw back and forth action, until Diaz was able to drag Condit to the ground with one minute remaining and work for a couple of submissions. Condit stifled this however, and regained control to end the fight.

Before this, Condit utilized an excellent game plan, sticking and moving with leg kicks, and avoiding Diaz’s typical combos against the cage. Diaz became frustrated, taunting Condit, in an effort to make it an emotional fight. Condit didn’t oblige, and was able to succeed. Across the board, the judges gave it to Carlos Condit. Nick Diaz was frustrated, claiming he would retire from MMA, also saying he won the fight because Condit ran throughout the duration of the bout. Diaz also didn’t show up for the post-fight presser.

Supporting the main event were heavyweight stars Roy Nelson and Fabricio Werdum. While neither of the two are anywhere close to a title shot, with over 30 cards being shown this year, it was an ample co-main event.

Werdum absolutely controlled Roy Nelson, doing excellent work from the muay thai clinch, as well as dominating every other facet of the bout. Fabricio looked like the fighter who had been heavily hyped previously, before being derailed by heavyweight juggernauts Alistair Overeem and Junior Dos Santos.

Former Welterweight contender Josh Koscheck was also in action, taking on Mike Pierce. We were witness to some vintage Koscheck eye pokes throughout the fight, which should have cost him points on the scorecard. Somehow that was avoided, and Koscheck was able to grind out a tough decision victory over an impressive Mike Pierce.

THE VIRTUOUS ONES VIEWPOINT

Wow, my Twitter timeline exploded over the main event. The judges got the decision right. Personally I gave rounds 1, 3 & 4 to Carlos Condit, with round 5 being a toss-up. Before I receive hate mail, I don’t believe that the takedown and submission attempts Diaz managed negates the first four minutes he was smacked around by Condit in the fifth round. If a gun were to my head, I’d have said Carlos Condit got that round, but Diaz fans have on rose colored glasses, and see any offense as Diaz controlling the Octagon.

Much was made of Carlos Condit ‘running’ as well. Carlos Condit came into this fight with a great gameplan (thanks to coach Greg Jackson), which employed excellent footwork and leg strikes. If he were to let Diaz back him up to the cage (which is Diaz’s sweet spot) it would have been octagon suicide for him. Footwork and running are two different things folks.

I don’t buy into Diaz’s supposed retirement either. He’s not going into boxing. Boxing fans don’t know who he is, probably won’t pay to see him consistently, and he’s under contract to the UFC. Diaz also didn’t show up to the post fight press conference (color me surprised). Plenty of talent, but he clearly can’t take a loss. Not to mention the immature post-round actions, getting in Condit’s face, holding onto his leg, etc. How fans can enjoy his attitude, but not be able to handle a tough decision is confusing

Many of Diaz’s fans are simply brainwashed, and see absolutely no way in which Nick Diaz lost the fight. I’ll tell you. Footwork and striking. Most of Diaz’s opponents move laterally when they’re hit, Carlos Condit didn’t. Simple. This situation may cost the UFC some PPV buys due to Condit not being as colorful as Diaz, but it is the Ultimate Fighting Championship, not the Ultimate Attitude Championship.

A few other quick notes, Renan Barao deserves a bantamweight title shot, and soon. He is on an absolute tear, going unbeaten in all 29 of his pro fights since losing a close decision in his debut. I see him contending for the title by the end of the year, if not by summer.

Josh Koscheck should have been deducted points for his repeated eye pokes against Mike Pierce. Not only did he do it twice in the fight, he is a repeat offender, having done it to Anthony Johnson as well. A point deduction would have likely changed the outcome of the match. I would like to see Koscheck face Diaz soon, a fight I believe Koshcheck would win. Who is the last wrestler Diaz faced? Get back to me on that.

Also, a news tidbit to drop on you. Dana White announced that a verbal agreement has been made for Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen to square off in June in Brazil for the Middleweight title. So there’s that.

Don’t forget to follow me on twitter as I live Tweet for WWE Raw, Smackdown, PPV’S, TNA, and UFC/Strikeforce shows!!!

•The show opened with Teddy Long in the ring who announced the participants for the 2012 Elimination Chamber match for the World Heavyweight Championship: Champion Daniel Bryan; Wade Barrett; Big Show; Cody Rhodes; Mark Henry; and Randy Orton.

Mark Henry then came out and said that he did not like that announcement because he had a one-in-six chance to win that match and he doesn’t like that. Teddy said since he lost at the Royal Rumble, he’s lucky Teddy is even putting him in the match. Henry then said he is the big fish on SmackDown and he should be taken out of the Chamber match and given a shot against Bryan on that show. Teddy then said he took him out of the Chamber, and he will not give him a match on SmackDown either. Henry said that Teddy is replaceable and he should do the right thing. Henry then put his hands on Teddy Long and Teddy suspended him indefinitely. Henry said that if he is getting suspended he may as well get his money’s worth out of it.

Sheamus then came out and gave Mark Henry the Brough Kick. Teddy then asked Sheamus if he knows what title he is going after at Wrestlemania. Sheamus said no and that he will wait until after the Elimination Chamber to decide.

Cody Rhodes then came out and said that he didn’t wish to fight Sheamus, but to warn him. Cody said that no one will remember that Sheamus won the Rumble and that Cody eliminated the most people in the Rumble – six. He then said that at the Chamber, he will win and be the first dual-champion since the Ultimate Warrior. Cody said that like the Warrior, he can’t understand what Sheamus and Teddy are saying half the time. Teddy then made a match between Cody and Sheamus for after the break.

•In a non-title match, Sheamus defeated Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes.

•Justin Gabriel and Hunico wrestled to a no contest when Cody attcked Justin Gabriel from behind and Camacho joined in on the attack. Then, the Great Khali came out and saved Justin Gabriel.

•WWE Tag Team Champions Primo and Epico, accompanied by Rosa Mendes, defeated Santino Marella and “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan when Primo pinned Santino.

•Michael Cole interviewed Daniel Bryan in the ring. Cole said that he never thought Bryan would make it in the WWE and said that he did win at the Rumble, and admitted that he was wrong about Bryan. Bryan then said he appreciated what Cole said and then said that not everything is about Cole, but this was about him and asked Cole to leave the ring. Bryan then said that he beat two monsters at the Rumble and that proved that he is a great champion and role model and that everyone should be like him – be a Vegan and that the audience members were some of the worst offenders of eating meat and that since he is a Vegan, he is the healthiest person in the arena. He then said that he has dominated the Big Show time and time again and that Show is a failure and that if Teddy long does not take Show out of the Chamber – he will take his case to the WWE Board of Directors. Big Show then came out and said he would have interrupted Bryan eariler – but he was in the back finishing a steak. He said that a real role model leads by example and that he thinks Bryan is a pompass arrogant ass and that after the Chamber – he will still be one – just one without a title. Bryan then taunted Show who wound up attacking Bryan until AJ came out wearing a neckbrace and stopped Show from knocking Bryan out. AJ and Bryan then embraced and left.

•Divas Champion Beth Phoenix and Natalya defeated Aksana and Tamina when Beth Pheonix pinned Aksana. After the match, Natalya went to put the Sharpshooter on Aksana – but received a kick and superfly splash from Tamina instead.

•The commentators announced that due to his suspension – The Great Khali will replace Mark Henry in the SmackDown Chamber match.

•Matt Stryker interviewed Randy Orton backstage and Randy said that he has no problem with Wade Barrett throwing him down the stairs because he would have done the same if he could and that he is back and more venomous then ever – and that he will win the Chamber match and become champion.

•In the main event, Randy Orton defeated Wade Barrett in a no disqualification match with an RKO on a steel chair. After the match, Teddy Long told Daniel Bryan that he would face Orton next week. While Orton was celebrating his victory in the ring, Bryan came out and taunted Orton to end the show.

Impact jumped the Big Pond, this week, to put on one of their largest shows, ever. From Wembley Stadium, welcome to the Impact Invasion…

The skyline of London was showcased. This was part of the Global Impact tour. England is one of those places that I’d love to go. I have two great friends, Lady Jane and Peter, who live in England and I’d love to see them. Impact said there were unexpected surprised awaiting the Brit fans.

Bully Ray and Bobby Roode came out together. Call them The Selfish Generation. The two men walked through the boos to get into the ring. Ray took the stick and asked how many people came to see Jeff Hardy. Huge roar of approval. Ray then informed the crowd that they were not going to see Jeff, since he and Bobby took out Jeff before the tour. Ray said Jeff would never return, because of being put through a table. Bobby then took over and got ultra-cheap heat by saying it was good to be in Ireland. “Ireland…England…What’s the difference?” quoth the World Champ. Bobby then said neither of them sucked. Bobby officially introduced himself and Ray. Bobby was happy with what happened to Jeff, last week. Bobby then called out James Storm. Bobby drew Storm’s ire when he called her “Cowgirl”. I so like Storm’s theme music.

Storm walked with a purpose towards the ring. Storm wanted a 2-on-1 Handicap Match, tonight. Ray told Storm to stay where he was and not to even think about going after the World Champ, Roode. Sting’s music hit and the General Manger of Impact (I guess that would be an appropriate title) made his first appearance of the night. Sting yelled “It’s Showtime!” Sting had an update on Jeff Hardy. Jeff is recovering nicely and would be back at Against All Odds. Sting set up a Fatal Four Way for the World title at the next PPV. It would be Bobby Roode vs James Storm vs Bully Ray vs Jeff Hardy. Sting said he wasn’t going to make a 2-on-1. Storm would fight Roode, first, and then fight Bully Ray, later on. storm had a monster grin on his face as Roode and Ray headed to the back.

Impact ran the new Valentine’s Day commercial with Eric Young as Cupid. Kinda cute. ODB looked absolutely adorable in her pink dress. I’d seen the photos on ODB’s Facebook page but they just didn’t do her justice. I’ve been fortunate enough to meet her, here in Reno, and let me tell you she is beautiful both inside and out.

Garrett was on the phone, leaving a message for his trainer. The mystery trainer would be there later.

Samoa Joe and Magnus v Crimson and Matt Morgan
Buckingham Brawl Match

This is the oddest of stipulations. A coin flip would decide the advantage. That team would be able to go 2-on-1 against the opposing team. The disadvantaged team would only be able to tag in and out by standard tag rules. The champs called “Heads” but it came up “Tails”. The fans were actually cheering Joe and Magnus. Crimson started the battle but Joe and Magnus nailed Morgan. Crrimson came back to clock both men. Joe with an Inverted Atomic Drop. Big Kick by Magnus. Backsplash Senton by Joe. Wow. Joe and Magnus took tuns with punches and kicks. Crimson started to fight back but got stopped short. Joe with a vicious Clothesline and Flying Kneedrop. Magnus with a European Uppercut and Joe with punches. Crimson’s face was dragged across the top rope. Morgan wanted to get involved but couldn’t. Crimson dodged a Corner Splash and hit an Exploder Suplex on Magnus.

Morgan tagged in and wnet wild. Fallaway Slam on Magnus. Joe was sent out of the ring. Side SLam by Morgan but Joe made the save on the pin. Crimson Speared Joe. Joe and Crimson fought on thne floor. Discus CLothesline by Morgan on Magnus. Morgan loaded up and went for the Carbon Footprint. He missed and Joe with the Enziguri. Joe with the Snap Mar into the Savage Elbow by Magnus. Simply call that…Message Delivered.

Your Winners: Samoa Joe and Magnus
Grade: A- (92%)

Backstage, Eric Bischoff arrived to confront his son and the unknown trainer. That would happen, a little later on.

Eric Bischoff strolled out, slowly, to the ring. The fans showed respect to the wrestling genius, Bischoff. You may not like the guy, but he was one of the most influential men to ever work in wrestling. Eric already knew who the trainer is but the fans didn’t. Eric switched the fans over by questioning the Brits’ civilized nature. Bischoff talked about his son, Garrett, trying to learn to be a pro wrestler. Eric was ready to burst Garrett’s bubble. He demanded that Garrett join him in the ring. There was a delay and Eric got nasty in demanding that the “snot-nosed punk” get to the ring. Garrett obeyed but walked with pride and confidence towards his demented dad. Eric felt this would be Garrett’s last chance to hear the fans’ cheers. Eric said he couldn’t believe that Garrett thought “HE” would be there to try and lift Garrett to anywhere near Eric’s level was ridiculous. Eric called “HIM” a coward. Garrett said Eric should take his issues up with “HIM”, not him. Eric said “HE” was not going to show up, in London or anywhere. Garrett’s phone went off and Garrett took the call. They talked a minute or so. Garrett looked crest-fallen. Eric giggled at the call. Garrett “Dad, when you are right, you are right…but when you are wrong, you are SO DEAD WRONG”. Garrett explained that the trainer was in the house and wanted to see Bischoff, later on.

Mark Haskins, a British wrestler, was profiled. He is ready to make a name for himself in the X-Division. The video of him in action was impressive. He was certain that he was going to be a future X-Champ.

Mark Haskins vs Austin Aries
Non-Title Match

The two circled each other and then locked up. Double Leg Trip by Aries. Aries then flipped up onto the top rope to showboat. They locked up again and Haskins with a takedown. The fans were behind Aries, of all people. Aries and Haskins in a Shoving Match. Aries pitched Haskins out but Haskins Skinned the Cat and hit a Flying Headscissors and Dropkick. Aries was thrown out but on the Skin attempt, Haskins with a Dropkick. Haskins with the Slingshot to the apron. Aries caught him on the fly back in and nailed the knee. Aries threw out Haskins. Aries with a Flying Ax Bomber to the floor. Aries rolled Haskins in and hit a Springboard Senton and Flying Elbow for a two. Aries rushed Haskins to the corner and placed him up top. Haskins fought back and went to fly. Aries shook the ropes and Hakins was crotched. Aries missed a Corner Clothesline. Haskins with a Forearm and Running Monkey Flip. Aries blocked a second one. Drop Down and Kip Up by Haskins. Haskins ran the ropes to deliver a Flying Crossbody. Diamond Cutter by Haskins but he messed up a hugeShooting Star Press. I haven’t seen that big a screw-up since Brock Lesnar took a hearer, years ago. Aries with a kick to the head and the Brainbuster. Aries then hit a Bridging Back Chin Lock to force the submission.

Your Winner: Austin Aries
Grade: A- (90%)

Brooke Tessmacher aka Brooke Adams is a finalist in the 2012 Hooters Dream Girl competition.

Backstage, Eric was trying to get a cab/taxi. Sting walked up and said to forget the taxi. He wanted Eric to stay around to meet the trainer.

“Cowboy” James Storm vs Bobby Roode

The former Beer Money partners circled each other and then stopped. They then locked up and Roode took a Side Headlock and turned it into a Hammerlock. Storm reversed it but Roode with the Side Headlock. Roode Steam Rolled Storm but Storm came back with a Kneedrop and Legdrop. Roode barely dodged the Last Call Superkick. Roode stayed on the floor as Impact went to break.

The two were going hot and heavy. Storm with the advantages into a Knee to the face. Next week, Star Wars Edition of Impact will air from England. Roode with Shoulder Thrusts to the corner. Roode with a brutal Twist Whip to the corner, followed by another Shoulder Thrust. Front Drop Suplex by Roode. Roode with stomps to the ribs. Storm then started to fight back with rights to the face.
Storm with the Enziguri after being flipped to the apron. Clotheslines and a Flying Forearm by Storm. Back Stabber after a Standing Switch. Storm slapped the top turnbuckle and then went to the penthouse. Savage Elbow! Could be…might be…NO! Kneelift by Roode. Roode went for the Crippler Crossfaace and locked it in deep. Storm considered tapping but rolled into the ropes, instead. Roode was frustrated. Roode kicked the ribs of Storm and then went for the Fisherman’s Suplex. Storm blocked it and nailed the Eye of the Storm. Roode blocked part of it. Fisherman’s Suplex for a two. Roode was livid. Roode got into a shoving match with Brian Hebner. Roode went out and grabbed his title belt. He slid into the ring with it. Roode shoved Brian aside. Storm with the Closing Time (Code Breaker). Bully Ray distracted Storm. Spear by Roode.

Your Winner: Bobby Roode

Your Winner: Tara
Grade: B+ (87%)

Garrettt was ready to reveal his trainer. This is going to be good.

Garrett came out, ready to shock the wrestling world. TNA actually kinda tipped their hat, going into this episode. Garrett thanked the fans for having his back. Garrett was about to announce his trainer’s name when Eric Bischoff and Gunner came from the back. Eric said he had spies, all over, and “HE” is not coming. Suddenly, the old nWo music went off and HULK HOGAN emerged! The fans absolutely exploded as the iconic one waltzed to the ring. This falls under the heading of one of the worst kept secrets in wrestling.

Hogan went right after Gunner. Hogan and Garrett with the Ping Pong Punches. Clothesline by Hogan. Gunner hit the floor at warp speed. Hogan then noticed Eric. Eric tried to beg off. Gunner pulled Eric out of the ring. Eric screamed taht he was Garrrett’s father. Garrett and Hogan shook hands. Hogan as a manager? I like it. I’ve always loved managers, as opposed to my buddy, J.C. Scott, who finds them completely useless.

Garrett and Hogan were ready to talk. Hogan said Garrett had a huge target on his back, so Hogan needed to step in to help the kid. Hogan said the Hulkamaniacs were now in Garrett’s corner. Garrett said Eric got a wake-up call. Hogan said he and Garrett were on a mission to get rid of Eric. Hogan said the Brit fans were going to help them find Eric, so they can destroy Eric. Ray with a modified Bow and Arrow to work the arm and back. Storm finally began to punch back. Ray pulled Storm down by the hair. Big Splash by Ray. 1-2-no. Roode screamed to finish off Storm. The fans began to call for Devon. Ray ran Storm into the turnbuckles. Open Hand Slap by Ray. Suplex by Ray. Ray went to the middle turnbuckle. He missed a Backsplash Senton off the ropes. Sting revved up the crowd. Storm fed off the power of the fans and sent Ray to the ropes. Clothesliens to send Ray to the corner. Ray flipped Storm to the outside. Neck Snap by Storm. Flying High Crossbody for a two. Storm with a hard shot but Ray with a Side Slam. “Let’s Go Cowboy” chant. The ref got taken out in a collision. Roode thought about getting involved, as did Sting. Sting ran Roode out of the ring. Roode wanted help from Roode but ended up on the wrong end of the Last Call Superkick!

Your Winner: James Storm
Grade: A- (92%)

Peace

“Did you know Dennis Stamp hasn’t got a Wikipedia page?”
Little did we know that this comment would lead the man who was once “not booked” to become a regular and one of the most popular features on The One Wrestling Show.
Chris Duke took it upon himself to find the man that no-one could find. After about a fortnight to no avail, his calls were answered:
“Hi, I’m looking for Dennis Stamp”
“I’m Dennis Stamp”
“Pro Wrestler, Dennis Stamp?”
“Well, I haven’t had a match in about 20 years…”
He found him.

Dennis interviewed with the team a week later, an amazing half hour insight into the world of the clear star of “Beyond The Mat”.

It was about 3 weeks later that oWs discovered that Dennis was suffering from Cancer after being admitted to hospital with heart problems. This scare gave Dennis a new outlook at life, he realised there was more to him than just being “not booked” and he has decided to share that with the world on the One Wrestling Show.

You can tune in every week now for “Stamps Stories” where he has already chatted about Terry Funk, the Stalone movie “Paradise Alley” and even Bret Harts first EVER match.

We value our relationship with Dennis greatly and hope it continues for a long long time

Referee Jimmy Dylan reporting……………….

On this week’s edition of The Referee’s Position, we find ourselves back on familiar ground. A notorious path known as the Road to WrestleMania. Tonight’s episode of SmackDown will mark the third official date on this march towards the Granddaddy of em All. Last Sunday’s Royal Rumble offered several great moments. Moments of nostalgia. Moments of triumph. Moments of surprise. It also had moments that left wrestling fans scratching their heads. The way the 30-man Rumble ended for example. The next night on Raw had a very similar feel to it. A great moment came when Chris Jericho finally laid CM Punk out, possibly setting the stage for the Mania clash everyone suspected since the “itBegins” promos last year. Puzzling moments came when there was no appearance by Kharma, or the sudden return of the Undertaker to challenge Triple H of all people. Tonight, we look towards Smackdown, and I’m not too sure we’ll leave tonight’s show with many more answers than we currently have.

With that being said, I’m going to be one to jump down WWE’s throats prematurely. We are still two months away from XXVIII and we still have to get over the hump of the Elimination Chamber. The February pay-per-view has been known to drastically shape WrestleMania, so I’m unsure as to why I witnessed some of the fans reactions that I have @the1jimmydylan on Twitter, or any other social media outlet. In two days, I think WWE went a long way in setting the stage. Fans have been screaming for Undertaker for weeks. I know because I’ve fielded questions about it from all of my outlets. Fans have also been clamoring for something significant and specific from Y2J. I’d say his actions last Monday pretty much took care of that…even though he’s been very direct since the 2nd day of 2012. Even though there’s several weeks before WWE’s biggest show of the year, it’s still important to deliver on every opportunity. It’s truly upsetting to see what SmackDown has become over the years. It comes off far too often as a tpical run-of-the-mill show rather than the second flagship of the biggest show on Earth. Looking at my notes for tonight’s card, it looks like more of the same of what SmackDown has been producing for many weeks now.

Sheamus vs. Cody Rhodes
*An incredible spotlight is about to shined back on the “Great White” as he hops on the fast track to Mania. Focus is obviously going to be put on which champion he will chose to face in Miami, but he also has the Elimination Chamber to look forward to. He may not have to climb into Satan’s Structure, but he’ll most-likely have a match against someone. Tonight he faces the reigning IC champ. Hopefully nothing will be done to seriously derail Cody here. I truly don’t think Sheamus is ready to be in his current position. I haven’t bought anything about him since he debuted. It’s a shame that he already has WWE championships under his belt, and he may be heading for another one. Cody on the other hand, has brought prestige back to the IC title and is poised for big things. Rumors are circulating that WWE may go ahead with the Goldust/Cody feud for Elimination Chamber, so it’ll be interesting to see how that plays a part tonight if it’s true.
Jimmy’s Pick: Sheamus via DQ

Hunico vs. Justin Gabriel
*I like the pairing of these two international Superstars, but where is it going? There is no cruiserweight title anymore, and as best I can tell, they’re not vying for title contender-ship, so where is the steak? Both competitors are money. I really wish there was more to it that drew me in to see what happens next. In any event, I think we’ll see another good match between both young talents. The presence of Hunico’s hired gun always poses a threat to the outcome of any match.
Jimmy’s Pick: Hunico

Primo & Epico vs. Santino & Jim Duggan
*I think this one is pretty much a no-brainer. When I was handed the card for tonight’s show, I immediately wondered why I was seeing Hacksaw’s name. This wouldn’t be the first time someone returned at the Rumble and decided to stick around for a while. After further investigation, I’ve learned that the WWE Hall of Famer has a new book coming out later this year, and WWE is going to try to get his project some exposure. So it looks like we may see ol Hacksaw around for a few months in some capacity. Tonight’s capacity will most-likely be a losing effort alongside the benefactor of the “Milan Miracle” when they meet the red hot Tag Team champions.
Jimmy’s Pick: Epico & Primo

Brodus Clay vs. Heath Slater
*As if WWE doesn’t have an abundance of talent, the reincarnation of Brodus Clay is already facing guys he’s already squashed since returning with this circus gimmick. I really don’t have to spend a lot of time on this one.
Jimmy’s Pick: Brodus Clay

Pin Up Strong vs. Tamina & Aksana
*I really want to get excited about what may be brewing in the Divas division, but I refuse to until I actually see it with my own eyes. It began a few weeks ago with the spark between Natalya and Tamina. With Beth Phoenix back in the mix, and possibly Kharma, the next couple months could be fun. If Kharma is back then she needs to make the Bellas pay for their little goodbye present they gave Kharma before her maternity leave. Then move forward to Beth and the title at WrestleMania. I don’t know what to expect here because we’ve yet to really see Aksana get down and dirty. If she can wrestle half as good as she flirts with Teddy Long, this could be a good match. Since WWE threw Beth and Natty together like they were going to strike fear in the hearts of the Divas and they haven’t succeeded, I like to see them get back to this tonight…especially if a plan is in the works for Kharma to face Beth for the title.
Jimmy’s Pick: Beth Phoenix and Natalya

Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett
*The way this has been presented over the last seven days, I would think WWE is billing this match as the final encounter between these two… at least for this feud anyway. Orton’s return last Friday led to a brief clash in the late stages of the Royal Rumble match where Orton got a small measure of revenge by killing Barrett’s dreams of main eventing WrestleMania. Wade watched from the sky box Monday night when Orton faced Dolph Ziggler…offering comments to set up tonight’s battle. If this is indeed the end of Orton and Barrett’s personal issues for now, the nod would have to go to Orton, then we’ll see how things transpire moving forward towards SmackDown’s main event at Elimination Chamber in a few weeks. Don’t forget to check below for my other outlets on social media. Thanks for reading!
Jimmy’s Pick: Randy Orton

IMPACT Wrestling Wrestlers of the Week 2.2.12
By Neil Borenstein

Each week here at 1wrestling.com, I will select three of the top wrestlers from TNA’s IMPACT Wrestling and present them to you in inverse order as the show’s Wrestlers of the Week. In choosing the show’s top three superstars, performances from that week’s IMPACT Wrestling and any relevant preceding programming – such as Pay-Per-Views – will be taken into consideration.

IMPACT Wrestling Wrestlers of the Week for February 2, 2012

3. Austin Aries – for defeating hometown boy Mark Haskins as a warmup for his X-Division Championship defense against Alex Shelley at Against All Odds:

Austin Aries has been at the very top of the X-Division ladder ever since returning to TNA back in June. Despite a few minor blips along the way, Aries has essentially dominated his way through the competition and maintained his presence as X-Division Championship since scoring the title from Brian Kendrick at No Surrender. Realizing the limited competition remaining for him on IMPACT Wrestling, Aries came out two weeks ago to hype himself up and make it clear that he was in a league of his own.

Aries did not expect to see Alex Shelley on that night, however. And after jawing at each other for a bit, the two came to the agreement that a win on Shelley’s end last week against a hand-picked opponent by Aries would score him an X-Division Title Match at Against All Odds. So, Shelley returned to the ring last Thursday night and soundly defeated Zema Ion to get his match against Aries at the pay-per-view.

With that match being official, Aries headed to Wembley Arena in London, England to take on one of their hometown boys in Mark Haskins as a bit of a warmup bout for his championship defense in about 10 days.

Haskins has been used sparingly on TNA television since signing with the organization. But there was no better time to break him out than in front of the England crowd in what would turn out to be an entertaining, fast-paced matchup. Unfortunately for Haskins, the crowd seemed to be more into Aries than him anyway.

What was also unfortunate for Haskins is the way he finished the match after actually gaining some momentum against the champion. Looking to follow up a nice springboard crossbody and a cutter move that fell just short of getting the three-count, Haskins decided to go high risk and headed up top for a shooting star press. Haskins botched the move Brock Lesnar style and could have easily broken his neck with the way he hit the mat – missing Aries at the same time as the champ moved out the way. Aries jumped right on Haskins with a kick to the head and the brain buster, which he then rolled into a bridging triangle choke to force Haskins into submission.

Haskins may have done himself in with the failed shooting star press. But Aries simply capitalized on a mistake and could very well do the same thing should Shelley screw up at Against All Odds. Much like Shelley has over Ion, Aries now as a nice momentum-building warmup victory under his belt as the two head to the PPV for what is perhaps Aries’ toughest test to date as X-Division Champion.

2. Tara – for scoring a non-title victory against Knockouts Champion and Against All Odds opponent Gail Kim thanks to failed interference from Madison Rayne:

Tara was the underdog when she entered a three-way matchup last week with No. 1 Contendership for the Knockouts Championship on the line. But she surprised a lot of people, herself included, by getting a pinfall victory over Mickie James and Velvet Sky to set herself up with a championship match against Gail Kim at Against All Odds.

In a surprising move by TNA, they decided to put these two in a non-title matchup this week on IMPACT Wrestling. As Taz pointed out at the top of the match, all this did was provide Tara an opportunity to strengthen her game plan against Kim when the title is on the line next Sunday. It also gave her a chance to build some momentum, as well as for Kim to realize that she might be better off leaving Madison Rayne in the back for that match.

While Rayne actually had a solid run helping Kim retain the gold in her feud against James, she only hurt Kim with a failed attempt at interference on this week’s IMPACT Wrestling.

Tara had worked the momentum of the match back in her favor when she nailed a nice snap suplex followed by a big back body drop. Kim hit a quick elbow to Tara’s face, but Tara caught Kim charging her with a powerslam. Before Tara could actually go for a cover, Rayne hopped the apron to serve as a distraction. Tara hit her to drop Rayne to her knees, but that only caused Rayne to enter the ring when Tara turned her focus back to Kim. Tara basically knew she was coming in, though, and dodged a fist that inadvertently nailed Kim instead. Tara threw Rayne to the outside and finished off Kim with the Widow’s Peak to pick up a huge victory over the Knockouts Titleholder.

The only way that result could have been any better for Tara would have been if the title was on the line. She gained the victory, picked up a few things about Kim’s abilities and perhaps proved that Rayne running interference might not be a good thing for Kim at Against All Odds. She has to be pretty confident right now.

1. Samoa Joe and Magnus – for making the most of their Buckingham Brawl advantage to beat Matt Morgan and Crimson in non-title action:

There has been no thorn in the side greater for Matt Morgan and Crimson since obtaining the TNA World Tag Team Championships than that of Samoa Joe and Magnus. Put together as members of the Wild Card Tag Team Tournament, Joe and Magnus have maintained a cohesive partnership focused solely on getting at Morgan and Crimson, and more so the tag team straps. Even in defeat, Joe and Magnus have maintained a dominating presence over the titleholders with post-match beatdowns and blindside assaults.

Such a strategy has landed Joe and Magnus another crack at the titles when a rematch between the teams takes place at Against All Odds. But London got a preview of what’s to come at that PPV when these two teams met up on this week’s IMPACT Wrestling, with a rare stipulation thrown into the mix.

This bout was announced as a Buckingham Brawl, which Jeremy Borash elaborated on in the prematch introductions. He flipped a coin, Morgan called it incorrectly in the air, and Joe and Magnus were both allowed to be in the ring during their match while Morgan and Crimson had to follow the standard tag team rules of tagging in and out.

Crimson tried his best early on to work against Joe and Magnus, but the numbers game eventually caught up to him and he became desperate to make a tag to the fresh Morgan. Dodging a charge from Joe in the corner and then countering Magnus coming off the ropes with a suplex enabled Crimson to do just that.

Upon entering the ring, Morgan dominated the opposition and even had Crimson help on the outside against Joe after the Samoan Submission Machine broke up a pinning attempt inside the ring. But when Magnus avoided a Carbon Footprint from Morgan, Joe was able to get back into the ring and drill the big man in the corner with a running back elbow and kick. Joe then snapmared Morgan into the elbow drop from Magnus, which transitioned right into the cover for a three-count.

Both teams will need to follow traditional tag team rules at Against All Odds, taking the numbers advantage away from Joe and Magnus when the titles are on the line. But regardless of that difference, Joe and Magnus have proven each week that they are willing to put Morgan and Crimson down by any means necessary. The confidence boost provided by this victory has to be huge and the championship reign of Morgan and Crimson is in some serious jeopardy.
