The final Raw of 2014 came to us from Washington, D.C. Edge and Christian were our special Guest Hosts.

The Dynamic Duo of the WWE came out to get the party started. The two had fun going back and forth with whether there should be a Cutting Edge or Peep Show. Edge got in shots as to what a “Peep Show” used to be. Smile. They brought up Seth Rollins as a potential guest. Due to the crowd’s reaction, the duo decided to make a match of Seth Rollins vs Roman Reigns. Christian decided to “One Up” his old buddy and placed Rusev against Dolph Ziggler in a “Champion vs Champion” battle. The crowd was really loving what they were hearing. They went a step higher when Christian suggested Lana should be naked. (all 3 of my grandsons just decided to come watch wrestling with me). E & C also mentioned that Daniel Bryan would be there, later on.

The fun came to a halt when Brock Lesnar made his first appearance of the night. Paul Heyman took the stick and discussed the injuries and such that both Edge and Christian have suffered, over the years. He could not believe that those two would risk their health by being in the presence of…Brahwk Leznar. Paul starts to talk trash about John Cena, which brings John out in a classic “Lenny and Squiggy” moment. Typical Cena promo where he claimed that he didn’t want to beat up on Lesnar because he wanted “The Beast” at his best for Royal Rumble. Brock went to attack John but Cena lifted Brock up for an AA. Brock slipped free and tucked tail and ran. Time for a break and some fresh hot cocoa as the snow begins falling here in Stagecoach!

Dolph Ziggler vs Rusev
Champion vs Champion, Non-Titles

The Finish:

Rusev missed a Big Splash but Dolph was able to connect with a Superkick. 1-2-no. Dolph tried for the Zig Zag but Rusev held the ropes to block the move. Rusev kicked Dolph in the knee and then pitched him into the ring post (between the ropes). Rusev continued to attack Dolph in the corner, despite repeated warning from the ref. Finally, the ref just called for the bell.

Your Winner (by Disqualification): Dolph Ziggler
Raw Ranking: 2.5 out of a possible 5

After the match, Rusev snapped and put Dolph in the Accolade and refused to release it. Ryback eventually ran down and made the save. The Big Guy beat the stuffing out of the Bulgarian-Russian. By the way, Lana was fully dressed and there were three very disappointed young men who grumbled and headed back to watching Family Guy, or some such nonsense, in the other room.

Ryback did a rather long-winded promo about his history in wrestling. He got to be a guest bell ringer at age 12. He started as Silverback and got hurt and walked away from wrestling. He went through some serious dark times, including a year away from his family, before rediscovering wrestling. Despite the advice from three different doctors, Ryback was determined to perform. The crowd cheered him. Ryback wanted to make one thing clear, this was not a USA vs Russian thing…it was one big guy getting beaten down by The Big Guy. Loud pop.

Natalya (w/Tyson Kidd) vs Nikki Bella (w/Brie Bella)
Non-Title Match

Nikki dropped Nattie and the two threw Forearms, back and forth. Nattie sent Nikki down with a hard Clothesline. Nikki headed out to the apron. Nikki was knocked off that apron…into the arms of Tyson Kidd. Nattie came out and began beating on the Divas champ and threw her back into the ring. Brie and Tyson got into a scream fest. The distraction allowed Nikki to blast Natalya. Rack Attack and this one’s a done deal.

Your Winner: Nikki Bella
Raw Ranking: .5

Backstage, Naomi came up and wanted to talk to Miz, alone. They dismissed Mizdow. Naomi mentioned how Miz has been trying to help her and she did appreciate it. She knew that Miz has taken a lot of grief from Jimmy Uso but she knew that Miz was just trying to help.

Miz and Mizdow vs The Usos
WWE Tag Team Championship Match

The Finish:

Jimmy nailed a Superkick and then tagged in his twin, Jey. Jey went for the Superfly Splash but Miz got the knees up. Miz planted Jey with the Skull Crushing Finale but Jey managed to kick out. Jey fought out of a 2nd Skull Crushing Finale. Jimmy took the tag and he hit a Superkick, followed by a Twin Superkick. Jimmy headed up top and connected with the Superfly to seal the deal.

Your Winners (and New Tag Champs): Jimmy and Jey Uso

After the win, Naomi came out to party with her hubby. Miz looked stunned to see Naomi with the Usos. Mizdow looked seriously crushed as his championship dreams shattered.

Jerry Lawler got up in the ring to talk with The Usos. He asked if Jimmy was on the same page as his wife. Jimmy smiled and said he was on the same page with his whole family, including his wife. It was revealed that Jimmy, Jey and Naomi had worked together to play Miz and Mizdow.

After the break, Cesaro was in the ring to complain. He sat in the corner and talked about winning the Andre the Giant Battle Royal, only to have nothing come of it. He didn’t want to bond with the fans, he just wanted his time to shine. Bad News Barrett came out and told off the Swiss Superman. He had some “Bad News” for Cesaro…they were about to fight.

Cesaro vs “Bad News” (Wade) Barrett

The Finish:

Cesaro threw a Forearm but Barrett answered with a Back Heel Kick and Big Boot to the side of Cesaro’s skull. Cesaro escaped the Pumphandle Slam and got a monster pop as he put Barrett in the Cesaro Swing. Cesaro immediately put Barrett into a Single Leg Crab. Wade managed to grab the ropes. Barrett went to the eyes and then took out Cesaro with the Bull Hammer Elbow.

Your Winner: Bad News Barrett
Raw Ranking: 1.75

Luke Harper did a brief promo about bringing nightmares to life. He was on deck to battle Jack Swagger.

The Ascension did a quick promo. They so flash back to the 1980s.

Luke Harper vs Jack Swagger

The Finish:

Harper wanted a Piledriver but Jack escaped. Swagger grabbed the ankle but couldn’t cinch in the Patriot Lock. Harper hit the Superkick and tried for a Saito Suplex. Jack prevented the move. Jack dropped Harper and went for the Swagger Bomb. Luke got the feet up and quickly blasted Jack with the Discus Clothesline to take the win.

Your Winner: Luke Harper
Raw Ranking: 2.0

John Cena chatted with Edge and Christian, in the locker room. They took shots at each other about their history. Christian scooted out of the room when John talked about when Edge attacked John’s dad. It was time for another set of commercials.

Big Show came down to watch the next match.

Seth Rollins vs Roman Reigns

The Finish:

This was a good long match. Roman rocked Seth with a Flying Clothesline. Roman hits a Corner Clothesline to set up a Belly to Belly Uranage. Rollins tried to punch and kick away but Roman blocked all his efforts. Roman avoided the Curb Stomp and sent Seth into the ropes. Rollins hit an Enziguri but Roman with the No Sell. Superman Punch sent Rollins flying. Big Show got involved and pulled the DQ for Rollins.

Your Winner (by Disqualification): Roman Reigns
Raw Ranking: 3.5

Show punched away at Roman and then tossed him over the announce desk. Time for another round of ads.

In the back, Seth thanked Big Show for helping him out. Seth was ready to do a New Year’s Toast on the combo Cutting Edge/Peep Show, later on.

Michael Cole re-introduced the Bray Wyatt vs Dean Ambrose feud. That led to a video package about the two men. Next week, they will square off in an Ambulance Match. Bray cut a typical cryptic promo about having Dean’s soul and the ambulance could have the rest.

Daniel Bryan came out for his huge announcement. It sounded like Daniel was about to hang up his boots. The big announcement was…DANIEL BRYAN WILL BE INVOLVED IN THE 2015 ROYAL RUMBLE! Cool. Will Daniel win? I’m still pondering that as I look around for my trusty Crystal Ball. We’ll talk some other day about that. Smile.

Miz and Mizdow were sulking, backstage. They ran into Edge and Christian, who were having fun with their trusty Kazoos. E & C do appreciate the art of tag teaming so they decided to give Miz and Mizdow another match. Well, NO, it’s not for the tag belts. And, NO, it’s not against the Usos.

Miz and Mizdow vs The Ascension (Viktor and Konnor)

Miz starts the match but quickly tags out to Mizdow. Konner Knees Mizdow and then punches him into near-oblivion. Viktor takes the tag and then Double Shoulder Mizdow. Mizdow does put up a slight bit of offense with a Big Boot. Viktor and Mizdow exchange Clotheslines. Konner tags back in and they finish off Mizdow with their patented Fall of Man finisher.

Your Winners: The Ascension
Raw Ranking: 1.0

Seth is heading towards the ring. Renee Young stops Seth and tries to confirm if he is going out (with J & J Security) or if it is John Cena who will be on the interview segment. Seth says John can show up if he wants to…and so can…Brock Lesnar.

The Cutting Peep Show

Edge and Christian have a little fun with the crowd before getting down to business. Seth then came out with champagne and glasses for all of them. Seth sucked up, big time, to E & C. They talked the history with the Dudleys and the Hardys. E & C went through a laundry list of people who had a better year than Seth, including the Reverend Slick. (Heck of a nice guy).

Seth admits to having a bad couple of months. It basically started at Survivor Series. Seth has a plan to turn things around and brought out his new buddy, Big Show. Edge jumps in and says that Seth is failing because he is seriously lacking charisma. Seth fires back that he doesn’t need it, he is better than Edge ever was.

Seth then bashes Christian with the Money in the Bank briefcase. Seth, Show, Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury all surround Edge. It’s a plot to force John Cena to come out, which he does. John stops just outside the ring and Seth warns John that they will break Edge’s neck, unless John gives him what he wants. John goes back and forth with the decision but when it looks like Edge will be crippled, John BRINIGS BACK THE AUTHORITY. What a freaking lame *ss way to end that storyline. Seriously? John rushes the ring to attack but the numbers are way too much. Big Show with the Knockout Punch and Seth with the Curb Stomp. Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar then make an appearance. They join Seth’s little band of angels on the stage.

Suddenly, the music hits and Stephanie McMahon and Triple H show up. This is the dumbest return in the history of recorded wrestling. Heck, my 6-month old great-nephew, Casey, could have written something better than that. WWE so desperately needs a new writing staff!

Oh well, back to the same old boring Stephanie/HHH schtick. Just when it looked like the WWE were going to try something new and different. Que sera sera.
