Welcome to the very first edition of The After Party! I’ll be here after every major PPV to see how my predictions played out, as well as giving highlights of the show. I’ll also try to figure out where the given wrestling organization goes next. What a better way to start than with… WWE’s Night of Champions!

Nice hour of recaps, interviews, predictions and talk. Renee Young, Alex Riley, Big Show and Booker T were your hosts. Booker did a fun interview with Gold and Star Dust. Goldy’s new makeup was so cool. It looked like something taken off the side of a customized ’57 Chevy (in black and gold).

The Peep Show: Guest – Chris Jericho

Jericho worked the Nashville crowd like a maestro. Chris also threw props out to his old friend, Christian. They had some fun talking about their old team. Christian gave Chris some grief about not wearing pants in the ring (he was in wrestling trunks). They looked back at how Randy Orton attacked Jericho, a couple weeks back. Christian insulted Randy until Orton came on the Tron. Randy called them “Terrence and Philip” (South Park). Jericho warned Randy that, after tonight, Orton would never, ever be the same, again.

Best Wishes go out to Roman Reigns, who is resting in a Nashville hospital. He had emergency hernia surgery on Saturday. It was announced that he will be out, up to, six months.

The Usos vs Dust2Dust
Tag Team Title Match

Predicted Winners: Gold and Star Dust
Actual Winners: Gold and Star Dust – New Champs
Championship Calibration: 3.5 out of a possible 5

Tis one could have gone either way. One of the Usos went to fly off the top but Star got the knees up. Star then quickly rolled up Uso to capture the titles.

What happens next:

The Usos will likely get a rematch and then head back into the pack. The Cosmic Twins will likely have tons of battles in the near future. Switching the titles will help to raise the competition. Good move.

Sheamus vs Cesaro
Intercontinental Title Match

Predicted Winner: Cesaro
Actual Winner: Sheamus
Championship Calibration: 3.75

Sheamus has grown out his Mutton Chops into a full Irish Red Beard. Cesaro hit an incredible Inverted Samoan Drop, over the front! They dodged and avoided each other’s finishers, several times. Sheamus “Hulked Up” and laid out Cesaro with the Brogue Kick!

What Happens Next:

Cesaro may well switch gears and go after the I-C strap. Sheamus will very likely go into a program against Rusev.

Florida Georgia Line announced that they would be a part of this year’s Tribute to the Troops. Cool.

The Miz vs Dolph Ziggler
Intercontinental Title Match

Predicted Winner: Dolph Ziggler
Actual Winner: The Miz – New Champ
Championship Calibration: 3.0

The guys from Florida Georgia Line took out Damien Sandow, with a little help from R-Ziggler/Truth. Miz caught Dolph in the Figure Four. Dolph made it to the ropes. Famouser, by Dolph, to earn a two count. Damien came back out to distract Dolph. Dolph with a Superkick to Damien. Miz rolled up Dolph and held the tights (nearly leaving Dolph bare butt naked).

What Happens Next:

Miz will likely feud with R-Truth and Dolph Ziggler.

Seth Rollins came out to gloat about Roman being out for several months. Seth emergency surgery was no excuse for not showing up. Seth wanted to give Roman 10 seconds to arrive to fight, or forfeit the battle. Charles Robinson called for the bell. Seth Rollins wins by forfeit. Really? I guess I kinda got that prediction correct. I said Seth would pull some kind of underhanded stunt to win. Seth said he was disappointed that he didn’t have anyone to fight. Seth issued an open challenge.

Seth Rollins vs Dean Ambrose
Open Challenge

Predicted Winner: N/A
Actual Winner: Match Thrown Out
Championship Calibration: N/A

Bill Apter gets bonus points for figuring out this might happen when we talked earlier in the day. Smile. Dean pulled up in a cab and brought the fight to Seth. They battled up in the crowd. Security and the Authority broke up the fight. Really? Dean broke free and continued to beat the stuffing out of Seth. Dean was tackled by numerous officials and refs as he went after Seth with a chair. They used Zip Cuffs to restrain Dean.

What Happens Next:

Most likely, the Seth vs Dean feud will get back into high gear. Seth won’t be cashing in the money in the Bank briefcase, for awhile.

Mark Henry vs Rusev

Predicted Winner: Mark Henry
Actual Winner: Rusev
Championship Calibration: 2.0

Lilian Garcia sang the National Anthem. Mark was actually in tears (and I was coming close). /mark took an early advantage but Rusev eventually turned things around. Mark fought out of the Accolade. World’s Strongest Slam but Rusev went out to the floor. Rusev applied the Accolade and Mark tapped out.

What Happens Next:

Rusev goes after the US title and Mark goes into retirement. Rusev may battle Big Show, first.

The next PPF will be Hell in a Cell…from Dallas.

Chris Jericho vs Randy Orton

Predicted Winner: Randy Orton
Actual Winner: Randy Orton
Championship Calibration: 3.0

Randy hit a wicked Superplex that almost got him the win. Randy dodged the Lionsault and caught Jericho with the Twisted Sister Backbreaker. Jericho blocked the RKO and hit the Lionsault. Jericho avoided the Rope Assisted DDT and Randy got out of the Walls of Jericho. Jericho ended up striking the ring post. Jericho avoided the Punt and locked in the Walls of Jericho. Randy rolled under to break the hold. Jericho was sent flying out of the ring. Randy planted Chris with a DDT. Code Breaker. 1-2-no. Jericho flew off the top turnbuckle…right into an RKO!

What Happens Next:

Jericho goes back into retirement. He’ll be focusing on promoting his new book and his band, Fozzy. Randy will start climbing the ladder of contention towards the WWE World Title.

Brie Bella was asked about her sister winning the Divas title. She said if Nikki were to win, she would become even more arrogant than before.

Paige vs A.J. Lee vs Nikki Bella
Triple Threat Match for the Knockout Title

Predicted Winner: Nikki Bella
Actual Winner: A.J. Lee – New Champion
Championship Calibration: 2.75

Nikki with a wild Swinging Sleeper to A.J. Nikki with a Rolling Cross Armbreaker to Paige. A.J. with a nice Leg Lariat to Paige. Nikki pushed Lee off the top rope. 2 count. Paige nailed numerous hard Headbutts to Lee. Facebuster, by Nikki, to Lee. Nikki went for a Black hole Slam but Lee went for the Black Widow. Paige made the save. Tower of Doom took out everyone. Nikki with the Rack Attack but Lee made the save. Lee flipped Nikki off the apron. Lee with the Black Widow. Paige tapped out.

What Happens Next:

Nikki goes into a feud with her sister. Paige takes a little break and then comes back after the belt. A.J. will likely face some of the girls coming up from NXT.

John Cena vs Brock Lesnar
WWE World Title Match

Predicted Winner: Brock Lesnar
Actual Winner: (By Disqualification): John Cena
Championship Calibration: 3.5

Vrock with brutal Corner Shoulders. Cena blocked a German and went off with the Attitude Adjustment. Brock went right to the Kimura Lock. Cena got free but took a series of Knee Strikes. Lesnar nailed the first (completed) German Suplex of the night. Lesnar went back to the Kimura Lock but Cena reached the ropes. 2nd German Suplex. Brock with the Three Amigos (Triple Suplexes). The “Eddie: chants rang out. Cena Boxed the ribs and face of Lesnar but a Clothesline laid out Cena. Lesnar grabbed the arm but Cena was right at the ropes. Lesnar with an Overhead Belly to Belly for a two count. Cena punched away but Lesnar went back to Corner Shoulders. Cena punched away. 3rd German! Lesnar was busted open, mostly around the nose. Cena was sporting an ugly bruise just below the ribs.

Lesnar focused on the ribs but Cena hit another AA. 2 count. Cena converted the F5 into the STF. Brock countered into the Kimura Lock. Cena powered up to his feet and made it to the corner. 3rd AA into a 2nd STF. Lesnar got the ropes but the ref didn’t force the break. 4th AA. Seth Rollins hit the ring and attacked. Seth with the Curb Stomp to Lesnar!

Seth wanted to Cash In! Cena attacked Seth. The bell never rang so the Cash In was never official. Brock with an F5 to Cena!

What Happens Next:

Cena feuds with Seth Rollins. Lesnar goes through several different opponents. Seth may also have a ticked off Beast on his tail.

Prediction Accuracy: (hanging head in shame) 2 correct out of a possible 7 (29%) Well, that’s not quite accurate. I did say Cena wouldn’t win the title. He didn’t, since you can’t win a title on a DQ. Also, I did think Paige would drop the title, only it was to the other competitor. Oh well, maybe next time I’ll do better. Smile.

Where WWE will likely go from here:

Brock Lesnar will likely hold the belt until after the first of the year. I could very well see Lesnar vs Undertaker II at Wrestlemania II. Brie and Nikki will continue this silly feud. Paige and A.J. will continue to trade the title back and forth. Mark Henry will likely disappear, due to a back injury. I could see an America vs The World battle at Survivor Series. Rusev will likely go after the US title, next. He could seriously elevate the title back to where it should be. I’m thinking Bad News Barrett will return, as a face, to feud with Miz.

Well, this was the first of my After Party columns. I raise my glass of Diet Dr. Pepper to one and all. Thanks for the decade of enjoyment that I’ve had sharing my thoughts with all of you. Here’s to the next decade…and hopefully many years beyond that.
