A very solid night of Ohio Valley Wrestling action. CHRIS BENOIT was in the house and brought a huge crowd with him.

Race Steele vs. Big Bad John

A decent match, Steele announced as the former HWA champion. Steele tried to win the match early, starting with a two count after a school boy rollup, and following that with a backslide, put could not pin the big man. The match did have some sloppy points. Big Bad John delivered two big backbreakers early on, but Steele refused to go down for the three. Big Bad John, missed a very odd looking leg drop, followed by an elbow drop as Steele used his mind to avoid the offense of John. Eventually Bull Buchanan, Big Bad John's new partner, came down to the ringside area and distracted Steele. This allowed Big Bad John to turn Race around and deliver a big chokeslam and pick up the pinfall and the win. After Buchanan attacked Race Steele, Flash and Trailer Park Trash came in for the save.

Winner via pinfall: Big Bad John

After the commercial break Trailer Park Trash and Flash joined Jim Cornette in the commentator's booth and expressed their hatred towards Bull Buchanan and Big Bad John. Flash eventually said that OVW isn't big enough for the four of them and someone is defenitely going to have to leave OVW.

Next the segment most were waiting for, Jim Cornette was joined in the ring by Chris Benoit for an interview. Cornette brought up his major surgery and asked a bit about his rehab process. Benoit said that he has about 6-8 weeks until he's fully recovered and he's been spending most of his time in Cincinati. Benoit talks about how he's scouting the up and coming talent in OVW who are on their way to the WWF, and he has a lot of interest in the "Best Damn Technical Wrestler in OVW" Nick Dinsmore. As soon as these words are said, The Revolution make their way down to their ring, as Damaja is the first on the mic to object. Damaja gets in the face of the rehabbing Benoit and claims that technical skills are useless when you can cause as much damage as he does. "Machine" Doug Basham is the next to get on the mic and talks about how he proved last week on OVW TV that he was the best technical wrestler in OVW, by pinning Dinsmore in the ring. Machine continues and basically challenges Benoit to a match. As soon as Benoit accepts Basham's challenge Nick Dinsmore and Rob Conway come down to the ring to get their two cents in. Dinsmore sets the record straight on how the decision was reversed last week because of interference by Victoria and that he actually won the match. Dinsmore then calls out Basham for a rematch tonight which is eventually accepted. All in all, Jim Cornette books the rematch between Dinsmore and Machine immediately after the commercial break, with Chris Benoit as the enforcer, making sure nobody interferes.

The two started off this Five-star match with a great opening spot of armbar takedowns and reversals, with Dinsmore taking the initial upperhand applying a strong leg lock on the downed Basham. Dinsmore continued the initial upperhand until a hiptoss was reversed, but immediately Dinsmore reversed the hiptoss attempt by Basham and delivered a very quick and impressive drop toe hold to Basham, holding him down with a headlock. Basham then countered applying Benoit's own move, the Crippler Crossface, as Dinsmore countered applying a Crippler Crossface of his own. Dinsmore continued his offensive attack until a high risk maneuver gone awry took place. Dinsmore attempted to go for a top rop frankensteiner but was powerbombed out of mid-air by Basham. This of course sent a huge jolt to the midsection of Dinsmore allowing Basham to control a bit of the offense. Basham applied a strong headlock during the commercial break, with the crowd attempting to get Dinsmore back into the match with their "Go Nick Go" chants. Basham dind't let this get to him as he kept Dinsmore down with a big Benoit like knee to Dinsmore sending him down to the canvas, after this he then delivered a standing centon bomb to the back of Dinsmore. After a big spinebuster by Basham he then went to the top rope and pulled off a falling headbutt. Unfortunately for "Machine" Dinsmore rolled out of the way, just in the nick of time, no pun intended. Eventually the two trade all sorts of impressive pinning attempts, but neither wrestler can manage to pull off the three count. During a back body drop delivered by Basham, Dinsmore was knocked into referee Robert Brisko sending him out cold. At this point Victoria attempted to run in but Chris Benoit grabbed her down. Rob Conway came out to help Benoit with Victoria carrying her to the back. Damaja then tried to run in, and Chris Benoit had his first actual physical confrontation in front of a crowd as the two brawled on the outside of the ring. Eventually Damaja ended back in the locker room. During the aforementioned turmoil Dinsmore was able to avoid Bashams attempt at picking up the pinfall and pulled off the German Suplex just in time for Chris Benoit to roll in and count the three count, awarding the match to Nick Dinsmore. By far the best match of 2002 thus far. *****

Jim Cornette was then joined by Synn and Leviathan. Synn demanded that Leviathan get a rematch with Prototype and Jim Cornette said that it was well deserved and he would get it in due time. Leviathan then grabbed Cornette's and spoke his first words on the OVW mic that I can recall saying that he demands the match and basically physically threatening Cornette. Synn then got on the mic and told Leviathan to back down and that as long as he did his job and defended the Disciples that he would get his match.

Flash vs. The Prototype

Prototype opened up the match with two take downs in a row. The cocky Prototype then posed for the Davis Arena crowd and Flash took the immediate upperhand as he did so. Flash then delivered a vicious chop. The crowd was all over Kenny "the King" Bolin at this point screaming the ever so popular "Porky" chant. Prototype eventually gained the upperhand back and maintained it for the majority of the match. Flash eventually gained somwewhat of an offensive attack delivering a picture perfect back body drop to Prototype. Throughout the match Prototype had been choking Flash with a piece of twisted tape without catching the attention of the referee. Kenny Bolin distracted the referee on the ring apron just as Flash gained the tape and was choking Prototype with it. Flash then attempted the pinfall but the referee was still distracted. Flash then took matters into his own hands pulling the ref out of the way and choked Bolin over the ropes with the tape. By this time Prototype was able to make it back to his feet and turn Flash around for the Protoplex picking up the pinfall and the win. Eventually David Flair ran in for the save on Flash putting the Figure four on Prototype. Sean O'Haire then came in to help out his stable and take out Flair. As Flair was getting pummeled Leviathan stormed the ring, clearing the ring of Bolin Services making the final save concluding another week of Ohio Valley Wrestling.
