NWS Results From "Howlin' Halloween Eve" Show In Long Branch, NJ 10/30: Danny Demanto Vs. Kevin Matthews In A Coffin Match With The Former ECW Zombie As Referee, Former WWE Star Giant Silva In A Four-On-One "Gullivers Travels" Match, The Nigerian Nighmares Go After Fresh Victims, Plus Gorillas, Tigers, Chickens, Goats, Space Aliens, And A Whole Host Of Halloween Characters As Only NWS Can Present
An enthusiastic throng filed into Long Branch, NJ's Seashore Arena on Friday night October 30th to witness one of the most bizarre character-driven wacked out nights of pro wrestling to ever be staged by the undisputed king of the carney style promotions, National Wrestling Superstars, in its "Howlin' Halloween Eve Spook-tacular", which included a Halloween costume contest for the kids and adults, and fun for all ages.
In the opening contest, The Finger-Lickin' Chicken, making his NWS debut, defeated luchador Manuel Manny Moore. The feathers were literally flying in this match. Despite the experience of the veteran luchador, the Chicken pulled quite a coup (or is it a coop) in hitting Manuel with a superkick and pinning him 1-2-3 to earn a victory.
In a tag-team match, the team of Slayer & Leatherface (with his chainsaw) defeated the team of Dazzling Devine & The Soul Assassin. The chainsaw did not figure into the match, but a lot of other insanity did, and the match ended with Slayer hitting his Acid-Drop-style flying bulldog on Soul Assassin and pinning him 1-2-3.
Before the next match began, NWS Commissioner Gino Moore announced that the participants in the main event Coffin Match were contractually required to come dressed in a Halloween costume. He then called out one of the participants, former WWE developmental protege "Too Cocky" Kevin Matthews, who claimed he wasn't even supposed to be here, didn't want to be here, and admitted he did not bring a costume. Commissioner Moore said that he had picked out a suitable costume, and Matthews would wear it to the ring or be fired on the spot.
Jumping Joey Janella (with Evil T.N.T in his corner) defeated Mighty Mikey Pacifica to become the *NEW* NWS Cruiserweight Champion. Before the match started, Janella demanded that he wanted the match to be no-disqualification and falls-count-anywhere, and NWS officials agreed. The two combatants tore into each other from the get-go, in the ring and all over the arena, using at least a dozen chairs, cooking pans, and anything else within reach. As it was no-disqualification, T.N.T got involved, making the match literally a two-on-one affair. It was those odds that doomed Mikey in the end. Mikey had just hit a flying body splash on Janella on top of a pile of steel chairs. when T.N.T smashed a cooking pan repeatedly into Mikey's face, knocking him out cold. Janella then covered Mikey for the 1-2-3, earning the victory and the belt. Not content with the victory, Janella and T.N.T continued to attack Mikey until the officials ran them off. Mikey was helped to the back, and it has since been reported that he suffered severe injuries which could keep him out of action for a time.
In a four-on-one "Gullivers Travels" Match, the 7-foot-7 former WWE star and Oddities member The Giant Silva defeated the foursome of B. Fehrm, Goat Man (with Tiger Boy), Sonny Boy Gulano, and "Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smoothie (with Evil T.N.T). The object was for the foursome to pin Silva inside a giant mesh net. To their credit, the foursome (and even the two managers) made an honest effort to take down the giant, even knocking him out of the ring early on, but Silva's strength prevailed, and soon Smoothie found himself alone in the ring after his teammates had given up. Silva flattened Smoothie with a body splash off the top rope, rolled him up in the mesh net, and carried him off, earning Silva the victory.
The Nigerian Nightmares (with manager "Voodoo Princess" Sheeta) defeated The Illegal Outer Space Alien & Kong-arilla (with manager Kongo Mazy). This was hardly a match, as the 800+ pound Nightmares literally squashed their opposition, crushing them for several minutes before crushing the Alien inside a Nigerian Sandwich, then flattening Kong-arilla with twin splashes in the corner followed by a Nigerian Roll and the easy 1-2-3 pin. After the match, Kongo Mazy came into the ring to help her charges, and was attacked by Sheeta, who used her voodoo magic to inflict pain on Mazy, then put her into a trance. The Nightmares then flattened her with a double splash, and actually tore into her body and began to eat her flesh. The Nightmares were thankfully chased off by the appearance of the former ECW Zombie, the Nightmares actually appearing shaken by his appearance. Kongo Mazy was carried off to the back and her medical condition remains unknown at press time.
In the Main Event, former WWE developmental protege "Too Cocky" Kevin Matthews defeated former friend "The Cold-Hearted Playa" Danny Demanto (with Brittney Savage) in a Coffin Match, with the former ECW Zombie as special referee. The coffin was wheeled to the ring by a pair of Druids. Commissioner Moore's choice of costume for Matthews turned out to be a Tinker Bell outfit, which drew roars of laughter from the crowd and sour remarks from Matthews. Demanto came to the ring dressed as WWE star John Cena, saying he chose to dress up as the worst wrestler he could think of, which did not endear him to the fans either. The two former friends then tore into each other, and if Matthews' costume was a blow to his ego, it did not affect his wrestling skills, as the two men battled evenly, even taking their fight outside the ring on several occasions. Demanto attempted to heave Matthews over the top rope into the coffin but Matthews blocked it. A few minutes later, Matthews hit a flying elbow drop on Demanto and tried to roll him into the coffin, but before he could close the lid completely, Zombie attacked Matthews (the two have long-standing issues) and overhead-suplexed him, allowing Demanto to revive and come out of the coffin. Demanto hit a Tree of Woe splash on Matthews in the corner, then put him in a Camel Clutch until he lost consciousness, and rolled him into the coffin. Matthews was sufficiently conscious however to stick his foot out of the coffin, and into Demanto's face when he went to finish him off. The revived Matthews locked Demanto into a Full Nelson submission until Demanto truly lost consciousness, then rolled him into the coffin and was able to snap the lid shut and get the victory. The crowd applauded Matthews for his efforts, and it looked like Matthews might have been having a change of heart, but on the way out of the ring he attacked a fan and locked him in a Full Nelson, knocking him out and earning the hearty boo-ing from the crowd.
