APTER'S ALLEY -- ABOUT HOGAN AND BISCHOFF SIGNING WITH TNA

I'm sure there are lots of Internet writers who are going to bash the signing of Hulk Hogan by TNA. Most of those doing that bashing do not have the mind-set of how TNA most likely views Hogan from a business standpoint. From my perch here is how I see it ...

1) Hogan is still the most recognizable wrestler on the planet. When romancing new advertisers (and that pays the bills) it won't hurt one bit having this icon on the TNA roster. Instead of getting a "who are your wrestlers" queary from the advertiser, this time they will know after a few days of media attention that this is the company that Hulk Hogan represents. There are still a lot of Hulkamaniacs out there in the business world who beleive in the power of Hogan.

2)It will level the playing field a bit more as TNA continues to grow after their recent seventh year anniversary. To vie dollar-for-dollar for ratings with WWE their image must be brought to a higher level and Hogan is now the key element in that equation.

3)Of course the negatives that will be written about Hogan bringing in his own crew and calling the shots are expected. The bottom line is that TNA will get more attention with Hogan as the focal point. No one can deny that. If you weigh the positives against the negatives this is a positive game for TNA at this point in my opinion.

4)Eric Bischoff in the mix is so very interesting. He knows the competition all so well. Keep in mind Bischoff has matured through the years in both the television and wrestling business. This can be a deadly combination for an opponent such as WWE. I'm anxious to see how this element will affect the core of TNA.

Your thoughts and comments are welcome of course. Apter1wrestling@yahoo.com is the place for all your emails -- and please type "Hogan/TNA" in the subject field.
