MEMORIES OF THE FABULOUS MOOLAH -- AND PLEASE SEND YOURS!

I always remember the telephone calls.

Incoming or making outgoing to her it was always the charming "Hi Darlin'" greeting from Lillian Ellison -- who we all knew as "The Fabulous Moolah."

I first met Moolah in 1970 at a wrestling show in Madison Square Garden. As big a star as she was, she made me promise that I cover "her gals" in the magazines I worked for because that was as important to her as doing stories about Moolah.

Who were "her gals?" They were the troupe of lady wrestlers she trained at her "Fabulous Moolah" wrestling school in Columbia, South Carolina. Some of them were already veterans like Donna Christentello, Toni Rose, and others upstarts like the "new" Joyce Grable and Vicki Williams.

Throughout the years I kept in touch with Lillian and she kept that charm going forever. I will miss her.

If you have a memory of Moolah or a photo you would like to share with us, please send it to apter1wrestling@yahoo.com and in the subject area please type "Moolah Memory."

Also be sure to checkout the "Classic Interviews" I did with Moolah running free on our site just a few items below this one. If you can't play it (if you don't have Real Player) it's worth the free download!

Thanks--Bill
