Marc Mero contacted me today regarding two stories we posted on 1Wrestling.com this weekend. Yesterday we reported that Mero had heat with several people at the funeral for bringing a CNN staffer into the church despite the family making it clear they did not want any media in the building. This morning we reported that sources had told another website that the CNN staffer was Mero's fiance. The report on the other website has since been edited.
According to Mero, he did sit with his fiance at the services and she has nothing to do with CNN. Mero acknowledged that he did enter the church with the CNN staffer, which was the reason for the heat we reported on yesterday. According to Mero the staffer entered the church with him but did not sit with he and his fiance. Mero says it is just a coincidence that he and the CNN staffer entered the building together and they had just arrived in the parking lot at the same time.
Our source who was at the funeral continues to tell us that several people close to the family were upset that Mero was there with the CNN staffer. Their impression was that Mero had brought her in despite the family not wanting any media in the building. Mero insists that he had nothing to do with her attending the service and that it was just coincidental that they entered together.
We stand by our original story, but apologize for the report that suggested that Mero was dating the staffer and that she was his fiance. That report was based on information posted on another site and that report has since been edited.
