First of all we want to express our condolences to the Family, her husband Robert, and the many friends and fans of Sherri Martel. We realize that it has to be a very difficult time for them, because we know it is for us. We came home late last night and found out she had passed away, and we are not ashamed to admit that we cried.
Sherri was a great person and a good friend and it is just hard to believe that she is gone. We talked to her maybe ten days ago, when she called with a booking for Dick Slater and ourselves out in California, she was one of the few people that would look out for you and try to help you out whenever she could.
She is a legend in the wrestling business and her accomplishments are to be admired. And it is very sad that the sport has lost one of its greats.
We have a lot of good memories of Sherri but one that really hits close to home, at least for me, is the time when she offered to be a celebrity Bartender at our Sports Bar Crazy Dave's in order to help out. We agreed and organized it for one Friday night. The customers weren't the only ones that had a good time that night, Sherri had a blast. She did a great job and made everyone laugh. She always wanted to come back and do it again, unfortunately now that will never happen.
Cuban met her for the first time way before I ever did back in the days of Portland Wrestling. She came in to wrestle for Don Owens and there just was something about there that is hard to express in words, she was talented, but down to earth and she could make you laugh. She was definitely a character and had a lot of charisma inside the ring and out. Cuban also got to spent some time with her when they were both together wrestling for WCW and one time when they were doing the TV Tapings in Orlando he introduced her to my mom. She was very gracious and had a knack for making people comfortable around her and none of us will ever forget what Sherri said to her that day and many times after that.
- GOOD GIRLS GO TO HEAVAN, BAD GIRLS GO WHERE EVER THEY WANT-.
We sure will miss you Sherri!
May she rest in peace!
