I remember going to a RAW event in at the then Knickerbocker arena in Albany New York. I was about 14 and I followed a bunch of kids around back who were waiting for the wrestlers to show up. We first saw Jimmy Hart driving Yokozuna in a listing Aries K Car with several pies in the back window which we all heckled them about. As we were laughing, unaware, "Scary" Sherri walks up behind us, in character, and full makeup (with the painted veins). As we turned to look, Sherri makes a giant throaty growl with her mouth wide open and her tongue sticking out. I will always remember that as some of the younger kids were genuinely scared by her!

i was around 10 or 11 years old when Sherri was managing the Macho Man and was known as "Scary" Sherri. At about this same time my dad and former step-mother (whose name also happened to be Sherri) went through a divorce. To this very day whenever my brother and I speak of our former step-mother we always end up making a reference to the "Sensational" one. I just wanted to thank her for bringing some humor to what otherwise were rather bad memories.--

Whenever a wrestler passes I get this incredibly empty feeling inside, and find myself cycling through all the names, of all the greats who passed in their prime. But this afternoon when I logged on and read that Sherri Martell had passed away my heart sunk, and I didn't go through my normal motions, but instead found myself choking up and literally weeping. I never in my life thought I'd read those words.
I've been a "fan" for close to twenty years, and for the majority of that time Sherri was always around, always involved and on so many different stages. As a wrestler, as a manager, "Scary" and "Sensational.". I have so many wonderful memories of Sherri in so many different venues,
from the AWA, to the WWF, to ECW and WCW. But the most personal memory I can share is that I had a huge crush on Sherri for most of my teenage years and to be quite honest it never really went away, she seemed to become more beautiful with age, and I found myself at times watching horrible WCW programming just to get a glimpse of her. When she was inducted into the WWE hall of fame I found myself watching WWE programming that I usually avoid simply to get a glimpse of her. She had a pressance that in my book can never be matched.
God bless her, and her family.
