Former ECW superstar, formerly known as both Sign Guy Dudley & Lou E.
Dangerously, Lou D'Angeli was a guest on the 09/30/05 edition of Monday Night
Mayhem, which can be heard in streaming audio every week exclusively on The
Monday Night Mayhem Radio Network (MondayNightMayhem.com & The AudioWrestling
Radio Network -- your official home of "The Spring Break Incident"
Video-On-Demand, featuring SmackDown! Diva, Stacy Keibler).
The interview with Lou D'Angeli is now available to hear for FREE in Real Audio!
Here are highlights from the interview provided by the show's correspondent, Dan
"Ho-Ju" Kriegbaum, of www.MondayNightMayhem.com.
=========================
The interview opens with name trademark discussions, with Lou saying that now,
by blood, he is now a Deadly Boy -- the new name, trademarked by Mark Lamonica,
for the wrestlers formerly known Bubba Ray & D-Von Dudley. Lou comments that
since the wrestling world is so "internet driven," that fans will still know who
they are, regardless of the name, although that their name that they made, and
created, can now no longer be used. The Big Mosh mentions that before the
release and the ECW Pay-Per-View, the Deadly Brothers were not on WWE television
for close to seven months. He then asks Lou if he thinks that the WWE just kept
Ray & Devon on board for sake of the Pay-Per-View, which Lou answers by saying
that although they weren't on TV, they still would've drawn money if they
were on there, before asking The Big Mosh what he thinks. Mosh mentioned
internet "swerves," like the Matt Hardy & Edge angle, but that now with the TNA
signing & both WrestleReunion shows, they have already pretty much accomplished
it all. Lou mentions anything can happen, including The Deadly Boyz returning to
the WWE in the future -- comparing it to Wayne Gretzky and how nobody ever
thought he would be traded.
The Big Mosh then asked Lou if it was true that when ECW folded, if Paul Heyman
gave them the promise to keep their name upon their release from the WWE, in
which Lou says that in all he has heard, that was the case. The Big Mosh then
asked Lou, being a former Dudley, what the fans remember The Dudleyz in ECW as,
which he answers with just saying hard work. The Big Mosh then asked how Lou
ever got the part in the Dudleyz. Lou says he started in ECW as a ringside
photographer in 1994, and worked with Gabe Sapolsky in helping to write the ECW
newsletter -- saying that he had long hair and looked like Dudley Dudley. He
mentions that Raven said that they needed somebody to be Sign Guy Dudley to get
on a fan's case in the front row, in which Lou got the job. Lou then says that
one night, literally as he stepped in the building to do photography, Stevie
Richards pulled him aside and said that Raven needed to talk to him, which then
started the "Sign Guy Dudley Era." Lou mentioned that he was very happy writing
& taking photos, and never expected to be on the performers side of things -- as
Tommy Dreamer looked after him to make sure he didn't get killed. Mosh then
asked if Lou was ever scared of fans getting involved physically during a Dudley
promo, as Lou responds by saying no, although when The Dudleyz talked, it wasn't
an act.
The Big Mosh & Blade then asked about a few tag teams that The Dudleyz had the
opportunity to go against in Extreme Championship Wrestling, which Lou gives his
thoughts on each. For The Eliminators, Lou says they were great matches -- with
Saturn making sure everything went the way it was supposed to, mentioning Barely
Legal as one of the memories. He then went on to The Gangstas (which started
right after The Eliminators stuff), including New Jack leaping off of scaffolds.
Next was Rob Van Dam & Sabu, which were also great matches, considering the
styles of all four wrestlers. The fondest memory that Lou remembers were the
angles with Tommy Dreamer, The Sandman, & L.S.D. (formerly Spike Dudley),
including breaking Beulah's neck.
Speaking of The Gangstas, The Big Mosh mentioned the real-life heat between The
Dudley Boyz & New Jack -- in which Lou confirms that it was post-ECW when the
heat started, saying that New Jack & himself always got along great. "The
Original Gangsta" always helped him out with the Lou E. character. Lou
mentions that New Jack was sort of close with Ray & Devon in ECW, and doesn't
know what really split them up.
Lou then mentions that currently he's in the entertainment industry now --
working at The Budweiser Events Center in Colorado, as The Director of Marketing
& Assistant General Manager, marketing events that go through the area, in
addition to helping the General Manager to book events there -- which of all
things, include World Wrestling Entertainment. Lou then said that he's never
talked to Vince McMahon about working with the WWE. He loves his current job --
getting his fix of wrestling when it goes there, and promoting concerts, and
being a huge music fan. He also says his job in Extreme Championship Wrestling
wasn't livable until he became a promoter, and he needed other jobs while in ECW
-- just in order to survive. The Big Mosh then joked about Lou possibly booking
a Smashing Pumpkins reunion at The Budweiser Events Center, which Lou responds
with simply "Call Billy." The Big Mosh then takes that answer and asks Lou
to take fans back to Billy Corgan on "The Danger Zone." Lou described that when
he first met Billy, Billy actually knew who he was. The night in Peoria, IL, Lou
called Tommy Dreamer to get Billy onto the show. Lou also mentioned the
mainstream publicity that ECW got out of that (being the huge music star Billy
was at the time) and also the Steve Corino/Fred Durst clash as well.
Lou, The Big Mosh, and Blade then go into music video talk -- with all of the
songs and ECW highlight videos that they made in the times of ECW that fit
perfectly, including bands like Guns 'N' Roses "November Rain," Nirvana's
"Smells Like Teen Spirit," and Alice In Chain's "Man In The Box."
The Big Mosh then took the Guns 'N' Roses reference into the Hardcore Homecoming
& ECW One Night Stand shows, using the quote from Danny Doring's MNM appearance,
saying "You can't make lightning in a bottle" -- in reference to recreating the
entire ECW legacy. The Big Mosh then asked Lou why we didn't see him on either
reunion show. Lou cleared the air, by saying that Hardcore Homecoming never
contacted him to be on, and though he wanted to be on the ECW One Night Stand
Pay-Per-View, a work commitment kept him from doing that. Lou then mentioned the
ratings & reviews that both Hardcore Homecoming & ECW's One Night Stand events
received, including the recent ticket sale slump for Hardcore Homecoming. Lou
also says that with barely any matches announced for the One Night Stand
Pay-Per-View, it was on fire -- although the WWE superstars "invading" took away
from the ECW nostalgia.
Other highlights in this 45+ minute interview include Lou's uncensored thoughts
on Paul Heyman, "The Quintessential Studmuffin" Joel Gertner, The Dangerous
Alliance, whether or not he will return to the business anytime soon, and much
more.

The rest of this week's all-new slam-packed edition of The Mayhem (9/30/05), is
now playing. It features a complete, in-depth preview of this week's WWE Monday
Night RAW USA Homecoming, with former WWE Announcer, Kevin Kelly -- along with
former Buffalo Bill LB "The Alpha Male Monty Brown" to preview tonight's debut
of TNA Impact! on Spike TV & his upcoming match vs. Raven at the Bound For Glory
Pay-Per-View.
=========================
We also encourgage you fans who have not already done so to check out not
one, but two "instant Mayhem classics" from the month of September."
*A tribute to a lost art -- tag team wrestling (9/23/05) -- which featured
former eight-time Smokey Mountain World Tag Team Champion, former WWE World Tag
Team Champion, and former scout/road agent for World Wrestling Entertainment,
Dr. Tom Prichard, joined Monday Night Mayhem to analyze the WWE Unforgiven Pay-
Per-View from top-to-bottom -- in addition to giving his candid thoughts on the
future of tag team wrestling, what's in store for the WWE as they make their
return to the USA Network, what is was like working with Chris Candido as part
of The Body Donnas, and being a member of The Heavenly Bodies (managed by Jim
Cornette). Does Tom see himself working with Vince McMahon anytime in the
future? Could we see him as part of TNA before the end of '05? The program also
featured former WWE World Tag Team Champion, former WWE Intercontinental
Champion, and the 1999 King Of The Ring, Kip James, making his much-anticipated
first appearance on the program -- stepping into The Mayhem squared circle with
The Big Mosh & The Angry Hero. With being one of the longest tenured superstars
with World Wrestling Entertainment for well over a decade, you know that the
artist formerly known as Billy Gunn had a lot on his mind -- from his time with
The Smoking Gunns, working with Degeneration X, and teaming with Chuck Palumbo
to being a part of the active TNA roster and feuding with BG James once again.
What will his role at Bound For Glory be? Does he see another "Monday Night War"
in the works anytime soon? If your name happens to be either Vince or Hunter,
then listen discretion is highly advised for you. If you're not down Kip being
with The Mayhem, we got two words for ya -- Suck it!
*The most extreme & uncensored edition of The Mayhem EVER (9/16/05): featuring
"The Original Gangsta" New Jack (who explained the truth on why he was not
brought into the WWE to work with John Cena, why he was not at ECW's One Night
Stand Pay-Per-View, and what he has in store for the superstars formerly known
as The Dudley Boyz) & "The First Lady Of Professional Wrestling" Missy Hyatt
(who discussed her life after wrestling, what her thoughts are on the current
product -- including the likelihood of her returning to the business, either in
the WWE or TNA, why she has not taken part in either ECW reunion show, and her
candid takes on Eric Bischoff, Jason Hervey, "Nasty Boy" Brian Knobbs, former
Buffalo Bills QB Jim Kelly, Paul Heyman, and so much more). This program would
probably be rated IE MA on the Internet -- and is definitely a show that you
have to listen to, simply because a recap would just be full of asterisks.
=========================
Who would have thought it? This upcoming week (10/3) also marks another Fall
Season Premiere Of The Mayhem! As you fans are recovering from the debut of TNA
Impact on Spike TV and are priming up for the three-hour WWE RAW Homecoming on
the USA Network, step into the Monday Night Mayhem squared circle, with The Big
Mosh & Blade. The former manager of The Four Horsemen, the legendary JJ Dillon,
will join MNM for its season premiere to discuss plenty of topics & issues,
including: "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair capturing the WWE Intercontinental
Championship, Chris Jericho taking a break from the wrestling business, the
ten-year anniversary of WCW Monday Nitro. JJ will be aboard to promote his
autobiography, "Wrestlers Are Like Seagulls: From McMahon To McMahon" -- which
can be purchased exclusively on www.JJDillon.com.
=========================
And don't forget wrestling fans -- starting on Monday night, October 10th,
Monday Night Mayhem will return to the format that has made it one of the most
respected & critically-acclaimed wrestling radio shows in the world -- LIVE!
That's right wrestling fans, every Monday night from 7-9PM ET, you will be able
to tune in to "Your Home Of Wrestling Radio" live -- along the airwaves of
www.MondayNightMayhem.com &
www.AudioWrestling.com. Joining The Big Mosh, The Angry Hero, and Blade for
this epic show will be the founder of Extreme Championship Wrestling, Tod
Gordon, to discuss the future of Hardcore Homecoming, his uncensored thoughts on
Vince McMahon, and his future in the business. In addition, former ECW World
Heavyweight Champion. "The King Of Old School" Steve Corino will return to The
Mayhem to promote his upcoming match vs. "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson
for the ROH World Heavyweight Championship in Buffalo, NY on Saturday night,
October 15th. All that -- and a few more surprises! Wait till you see what's in
store for the new MNM fall season...
