Complete show report from Saturday night, September 18th:

It was a night of thrilling action, controversy and questions as New England Championship Wrestling returned to live action this past Saturday night at the Framingham Civic League for AUTUMN UNLEASHED.

In the opening bout, the popular Latin star, El Boricua scored an impressive win over "The Pinnacle" Paul Lombardi.   Lombardi seemed to have things going his way when he set El Boricua up for his trademark elbow, which appeared to be loaded with a foreign object.  'The Pinnacle" missed however, and Boricua caught him in a powerslam to score the victory.

The always controversial Ru Starr was up next with his open challenge.  Starr, who was accompanied to the ring by "The Egomaniac" Johnny Idol, had challenged anyone in NECW to face him, but when Bob Evans music hit, he quickly told the crowd that he had stipulated to NECW officials that the challenge was made to anyone in NECW EXCEPT Bob Evans.

Pat Masters of Sudden Impact came out and Starr told him that the Ru Starr Challenge was if Masters could last 10 minutes with him, he'd win $500.  Masters took the fight to Starr and looked like he had the upper hand at the 8 minute mark, when Johnny Idol slipped something to Ru Starr.  He then knocked out Masters suddenly to win the bout.

In women's action, the veteran vixen, Violet Flame defeated Hayley Skye via pinfall with her feet on the ropes.  It was a hard fought battle, but the wily Violet Flame outsmarted the rookie and the ref to score the pin and walk away with the victory.

Next up, it was a "Coward Waves The Flag Match" and another chapter in the long running feud between "The Egomaniac" Johnny Idol and "Strangler" Steve King.   In a "Coward Waves The Flag Match", each man appoints a representative to carry a white flag for him.  For Steve King, it was Bob Evans.  For Johnny Idol, it was Ru Starr.  The match continues until one man is so beaten that his second waves the flag in surrender.   King took the match to Idol and dominated the action most of the way.  Evans and Starr butted heads a few times, and finally Starr attacked Evans with a trashcan, knocking him out.  Starr propped the prone Evans up on the ring apron and positioned the flag under Evans arm and wiggled it while crouched down on the floor to make it look like Evans was waving the flag.  The referee saw the flag and gave the match to Idol.

After the bout, Bob Evans challenged Ru Starr to a "Trashcan Challenge Match" on Saturday, November 20th in Framingham.  Each man will have a trashcan he can use as a weapon and there must be a winner.  Steve King then made his own challenge to Johnny Idol to a match that would settle their feud once and for all - an old fashioned Texas Death Match!  In this bout, there are no disqualifications, no countouts and no time limit.  Pinfalls do not count out.  The match continues until one man cannot answer the count of ten.  

After intermission, ring announcer Grayson Alexander appeared on the big screen interviewing Frankie and Alex Arion.  Alex told Frankie that the only reason he lost the NECW Heavyweight Championship last month in Somerville was the interference of Alex Crowley and that this time, he would be in Frankie's corner watching his back.  Alex then got a phone call and excused himself from the interview.

In a special challenge match, Nick Logan made an impressive debut in NECW defeating Rocco Abruzzi, who was accompanied by Doug Sommers.   Sommers tried to interfere in the match, but his efforts backfired and Logan rolled up Abruzzi for the win.

In a bout to decide the #1 Contender's spot, the 2004 IRON 8 Champion, "Revolution" Chris Venom and two-time former NECW Champion, Bob Evans battled to a time limit draw in a technical classic.  Both men are close friends, but both want the shot at the NECW Heavyweight Championship and went all out to claim victory.  At the end, it looked like Chris Venom had Evans pinned after a swanton bomb off the top rope, but the bell rang at the count of one.

The fans cheered both men and asked for 5 more minutes, but Evans and Venom agreed to face each other again in Watertown on Friday night, October 15th - this time with a 30 minute time limit.

In their first defense of the NECW Tag Team Championship, PRIDE (Dan Freitas and Brian Nunes) found themselves up against more than they bargained for in the team of Matt & Brian Logan, who made a very impressive debut in NECW at AUTUMN UNLEASHED.  PRIDE seemed to have taken the Logans lightly and were frustrated at every turn by the dynamic brother duo.  PRIDE finally set The Logans up for their finisher, but resorted to using the championship belts as a weapon and were disqualified.  The Logans have asked for and been granted a rematch next month in Watertown.

Alex Crowley came on the big screen saying the it was the one year anniversary of his partnership with Michael Sain.  Crowley said that he had trained Michael hard and that he was ready to go it alone without him at ringside and prove that he deserves to be the NECW Heavyweight Champion.

"Big Guns" Frankie Arion was introduced, followed by the NECW Heavyweight Champion, Michael Sain, who was alone.   The ring announcer announced "The Golden Greek" Alex Arion.  His entrance music and video were played, but Alex didn't come out.  They were played again and still no Alex.  Sain attacked Frankie from behind to start the match, but Frankie hung in there.  The agility and quickness of "Big Guns" kept him in the match.   Frankie used dropkicks behind the legs of the monstrous Sain to keep him off balance and negate the size difference between the two.  Frankie finally managed to hit a bulldog off the top rope - the same move he won the NECW Heavyweight Championship with in July - but this time Alex Crowley appeared from under the ring!  Crowley grabbed a chair and tried to attack Frankie, but Frankie reversed it, as the referee was knocked down.  Sain recovered and gave Frankie a reverse backdrop driver on the steel chair.  Crowley revived the referee and got the three count for his man.

After the bout, Sain and Crowley continued to attack Frankie.  The crowd expected Alex Arion to come out as his music started again.   Still no Alex.  Bob Evans, Chris Venom, Steve King and the Logan Brothers all ran out to save Frankie.  Sain and Crowley tried to leave, but NECW President, Sheldon Goldberg cut them off at the curtain.  Goldberg chided Crowley and called him a liar, but then said that in a way he had to congratulate Crowley because he really fooled everyone in NECW.  Goldberg said he was so impressed that he thinks Crowley deserves a promotion and told him that as of now he was being promoted to the active roster of NECW wrestlers and that his first match would be in Watertown on October 15th - a tag team match between him and Michael Sain against Frankie and Alex Arion.   Goldberg turned his attention to the NECW Heavyweight Champion, Michael Sain.   He told Sain that he was not getting a night off from defending the title, because if either Alex or Frankie pins Sain, the title would change hands.
