8/30 WWC Saturday "Review-O-Rama"
Aired: Saturday August 30, 2003
Taped: In a whole bunch of different places last week
Review by: Brian Jimenez RVDRollinThunder@MSN.com

Hello and welcome to the last glass of water in the desert, the "Review-O-Rama". I'm Brian Jimenez and seriously am tired right now. This was the first week of test in my high school, and I don't remember a damn thing I studied. Well, enough about me and my problems. It's time to check up on the wonderful world of Puerto Rican wrestling. Let's get to it, here's what's Good:

Video Montage of all we can expect to see on todays show including, but not limited too, Rico Suave visiting his "Compadre", Chicky Starr opening up a can o' whuppass and... um... er... well that was really the only thing of interest today.

First Match: Brett Dail def. NY Hit Squad #2 via pinfall. Can somebody please tell me where's NY Hit Squad #1? I mean it is the obvious question here. Profe says that the XWF Invasion 2002 will be on PPV on DirecTV on the island for $10. Hmmm, which would you spend 10 bucks on, a mediocre WWC show or a TNA show? I remind you that TNA has AJ Styles so that's reason enough to buy. I thought so. Brett wins with a fisherman suplex.

Commercial Break. Here's the card for tonight's WWC show:

Tonight in Carolina

Six man tag: Victor Jovica, Thunder and Lightning vs. Bronco, Dominican Boy and Jose Rivera Jr.
Mixed tag: Eddie Colon and Stacy Colon vs. Chris Candido and Sunny
Tag Team Titles: Ricky Santana and Brett Dail vs. Los Broncos 2 and 3
Jr. Heavyweight Title: Alex Montalvo vs. Diabolico
Carmen vs. Tigeresa
Pablo Marquez vs. NY Hit Squad #2
Rico Suave vs. Marcus Faulk

Second Match: Ricky Santana def. Chris Candido(w/Sunny) via DQ. Lots of boring stuff going on before the match got started. Ricky wanted Sunny out of ringside, the ref said no, and that set of a chain of events that lasted a good three minutes and got me screaming "Get the damn match started" over and over. When they finally started, it was pretty good. Profe says that next week in Caguas, Chicky Starr will face Bronco to get his revenge. And as if there was no other way to make this match stupid, they are putting (wait for it) Sunshine Logroño in ringside accompanying Chicky. Sunshine is a comedian in PR who has his own show. Apparently Bronco went to Sunshine's show and got into a fight with him. I say "apparently" because I didn't see the show on Thursday, I saw the VMA's on MTV. But then again, who didn't? Anyway, Santana gives Candido a stunner and has him pinned, but Sunny enters and hits Ricky for the DQ. After the match, Ricky kicks Chris out of the ring, but before he can do anything to Sunny, her husband gets he out of the ring too.

Profe intros a video of last weeks match between Eddie Colon and Chris Candido with Stacy at ringside for her brother and Sunny at ringside for her husband. Sunny and Stacy get into a catfight in the ring which allowed Chris to take out the knux and hit Eddie to score the pin.

Promo: Chris Candido and Sunny. Sunny doesn't seem to be all that pleased to have herself in a match. Quite frankly, I'm not so crazy about it too, but for a different reason.

Promo: Eddie and Stacy Colon. I didn't pay attencion to what Eddie was saying, I was too busy gawking at Stacy. And even if she wasn't there, I still wouldn't have payed attencion cause he is so damn boring.

Commercial Break. Here are the current list of Champions for the WWC:

Universal Champion: Lightning
PR Champion: Dominican Boy
TV Champion: VACANT
Tag Team Champions: Los Broncos
Jr. Heavyweight Champion: Diabolico

Rico Suave is at the WWC offices and he wants to talk to Victor Jovica. He enters looking very sharp in a suit and tie and holding a briefcase. Finally, he wears something slimming on TV. Anyway, he wants to help out the company in a way other than wrestling. He wants to be a seller, he wants to sell commercials, TV time, etc. for the company. Jovica asks if he has any experience of connections. Suave says no, but it couldn't hurt for him to learn. Victor says that that is not something that anyone can do, he needs to have experience. He tells Rico he's sorry and Suave leaves his office looking a bit upset. He sees Bronco's office and has an idea. He knocks on the door and enters, and that's how it ends.

Commercial Break. Website o' the day: "Review-O-Reader" Brian Westcott sent along a site that has histories of title changes for promotions, WWC included. www.solie.org/titlehistories/index.html has the history of titles from way, way, way back. Thanks a lot to him for that.

Profe intros a video of last weeks match between the then tag champs Brett Dail and Ricky Santana and Los Broncos for the Tag Titles. Ely gives Ricky a low blow on the top rope then hits him with one of the championship belts which allow one Bronco to make the pin and win the titles.

Promo: Broncos and Ely. Again, Ely gives a great promo.

Promo: Brett and Ricky. By comparison to the one we just saw, this promo wasn't as good. Maybe every boring face promo should have Stacy Colon in it. I know Jess McGrath wouldn't mind that. [Note from Jess: Damn straight.]

Commercial Break. Mark Mag Pro Wrestling Illustrated has made their list of the top 500 wrestlers of 2002. While guys like Angle and Lesnar and HHH are at the top, some of my fellow Puerto Ricans are on this list as well, both from WWC and IWA. Here are the WWC wrestlers on the list:

115-Carly Colon
190-Eddie Colon
211-Bronco
221-Thunder
228-Lightning
255-Rico Suave
268-Chicky Starr
284-Ricky Santana
297-Mr. Cassanova
378-Dominican Boy

Congrats to all the wrestlers that have made the list this year. It's about time PR wrestling and it's wrestlers get the recognition they deserve.

Profe in this weeks edition of "Face to Face". This week he is with Thunder and Lightning. Thunder is glad that they are reunited and are back to doing what they do best, teaming up. Well, as I saw Lightning wasn't doing half bad by himself. Thunder doesn't care about the Universal title that his partner has, and when Lightning defends the title(if he ever defends it) he will be by his side. But he will try to concentrate on the Tag Titles now, and he will also try to make a run at the PR title as well.

Promo: Diabolico. Promo: Alex Montalvo. Again, not enough Stacy here.

Commercial Break. The Puerto Rican Wrestling Commission had an award ceremony to honor the best wrestlers of the year 2002 with both WWC and IWA wrestlers taking home awards. Check out IWApr.net to see who won what and even some pictures of the event. The people who attended say that it was kinda awkward to see both promotions' wrestlers in the same event, but even more awkward was the opening in which Apolo, Eddie Colon and Eric Alexander were singing "Like a Virgin" together and Apolo kissing both wrestlers.

Profe intros last week's Thunder and Lightning vs. Jose Rivera Jr. and Dominican Boy match. This ends in a double DQ when Lightning and Dominican Boy shove the ref down.

Promo: Bronco. He says Lightning doesn't have the potential that his tag partners tonight have. Well if they keep on canceling his solo push, then he won't.

Promo: Thunder, Lightning and Victor Jovica. Maybe I should start taping pictures of Stacy on my TV whenever something boring come on. It sure would make infomercials less boring to watch.

Commercial Break. I got one last thing I gotta do, come on.

It's Main Event time, boys and girls...

Main Event Match: Chicky Starr and Dominican Boy (w/Ely el Bolitero) fight to a no contest (The first in "Review-O-Rama" history!!!!). Dominican Boy did a blade job early in the match and it looked pretty nasty. The Dominicans interfere and Chicky fights them off with his bat and leaves. The bell doesn't sound, no one says who won, so I'll assume it was a no contest.

Profe says goodbye and thus ends the show.

The Last Word:

The Last Word is Yawn, as in, I was Yawning for the whole show. Nothing of value happened today, it's kinda like a live WWC card. With IWA's Golpe de Estado show only 2 weeks away and them possibly leading to a Savio-Invader showdown, it looks like things won't get any better for WWC anytime soon.

Well, that's it for today's "Review-O-Rama". Come back tomorrow for the IWA Saturday "R-O-R" with, as I mentioned before, IWA building up Golpe de Estado with Invader vs. Savio and dates for the shows. I'm Brian Jimenez and until tomorrow, I'm Out.
