The following is a summary of the most recent episode of Get in the Ring as well as the "lost" show from 2 weeks ago.

Get in the Ring can be heard each Sunday from Noon to 1 on 1240 AM WGBB in NY/NJ or on the internet at www.getinthering.tv

Barry "Bull" Buchanan

Phantom thought the RTC angle was funny and wanted to know what went wrong.  Bull believes that nothing went wrong and that the higher-ups in the WWE simply believed the angle had run its course.  There were plans to have the RTC guys branch off on their own but at the time Vince bought WCW and had to get those guys on TV.  Overall, Barry feels that the company always took care of him and has no complaints.

The talk turns to the night that Cena and Red Dog turned on him.  Bull believed it was finally his shot to work as a face, but he was released shortly thereafter which came as a complete surprise to him.  He showed up to the arena that day and found out about the turn and was really looking forward to it as he loves working as a face and relating to the fans. His favorite people to work with were Big Bossman and the Godfather.

He started around the same time as New Jack did when they were both wrestling in Georgia.  As always, the boys reiterate their fear of Jack.  Bull says they spoke the other night about how it might be time for New Jack to tone it down a bit.  Although New Jack agreed at the time, later that night he jumped off the balcony at the TNA show.

Bull discusses the rumors of him going to TNA.  He has been backstage and talked to TNA officials.  Although they sounded like they wanted to use him, he's still waiting.

A caller discusses Bull's accent and asks if he believes it worked against him in the WWE.  Bull has thought that at times, however, it depends who you talk to and overall he thinks it worked in his favor.  Especially with his work with RTC and Bossman.  In RTC it helped him portray the fire and brimstone southern Baptist preacher.

He cites Jim Ross as one of the reasons he was with WWE for as long as he was and thanks Ross for his career with WWE.  If Ross is scaling back his duties Bull can understand why.  For a while Ross and Bruce Pritchard were also in charge of the developmental program.  Ross did a great job putting the locker room in place. Bull also credits Tom Pritchard and Jim Cornette.

Bull agrees that the developmental system means that WWE doesn't have to break the bad habits of wrestlers.  As examples of bad habits, Bull cites a guy keeping his head down while in a headlock.

The talk turns to Nathan Jones who seemed like a good guy to Bull.   Vince sees potential in Nathan rather than his limitations.  When Vince see potential he gives you the ball.  Bull thinks that Nathan just needs time and to work 4 times a week. He feels that even a veteran can't stay on top of his game wrestling only once a month.  However, Nathan is already out there so its too late to send him to the developmental program.  Bull watched him work with Bill DeMott recently and it was a good example of a veteran who can cover up another's weaknesses.  Overall, Bull thinks Nathan has a lot of potential.

Bull believes Cena is ready for his push.  He says what we've seen on tv is just a taste of what he can do.  He believes Cena could be the next Rock, which is something he doesn't take that lightly as Rock is one of the best ever.  He talks about how he had the pleasure of watching and working with Rock in Memphis and enjoyed seeing him turn into what he is today.  He feels Cena is on the same course as he is technically sound and unbelievable on the mic.  Thus far, Cena has done well but what he's done so far is nothing compared to his OVW stuff.

It wasn't as hard to play a rapper as people would think.  Bull listens to hip hop and really likes 50 cent.  However, it was a big joke of locker room for a while that he was playing a rapper.  He especially like the old stuff and says D-Von can attest that Bull knew every word of LL Cool J and Public Enemy songs.

Black Bart

Sir A explains that GIR has been obsessed with getting Black Bart and Ron Bass on the show.  Bart doesn't know where Bass is but would love to speak with him.

Bart talks about how he used to wrestle Ron Garvin for an hour every night for the National title.  He says that you will never hear him knock wrestling as it has been very good to him.  The talk turns to Piper who was on GIR a few months ago trashing Vince and now he's back working for the man.

Black Bart wrestled Hulk Hogan when Bart was the Alabama Heavyweight Champion and "Terry Hogan" was only 190 lbs.  He recalls whipping him at the time and only 3 ˝ yrs later Hogan was 300 lbs and the WWF champ.  Bart believes that Vince made Hogan.

Black Bart has an 11 year old son.  Sir A asks if he will become Black Bart Jr, however, Bart would prefer for him to be a lawyer.  Sir A says that, as a lawyer, wrestling is much better. Bart says that if the sport was like it used to be he would agree, but not now since it's changed so much.  Bart says that in the old days you used to have to be able to talk and get your message across and now it isn't that way.

Bart has a broken back and will be getting surgery soon (L4-L5 fusion, rods, pins).  He wrestled for almost 30 years, but amazingly he didn't hurt his back while wrestling.  He hurt it at his "regular job", working as a  foreman setting utility poles. (He wrestled weekends) he lifted a 450 lb shelf and attempted to let it down by himself when it fell on top of him.  He went back to work the next day but was seriously hurt.

The talk turns to the recent rash of injuries in the WWE.  Bart feels that today's high spots would have been finishers 20 years ago and guys will pay for it down the road.

He was under a 2 year contract with the WWF and was let go 4 days before Desert Storm.  Vince told him that he had to let some guys go because the country was going to war.  Bart claims Vince knew about the war 4 days before the country was aware that we were going to war.

He was supposed to go to the WWF around the time Ron Bass met Brutus Beefcake in a hair match.  However, he had been working for WCW for almost 10 years and did not like the idea of the 3 day tryout feeling why should he leave good money behind.  Bass later told him that the WWF planned to put them together to feud with Blackjack Mulligan and Brutus Beefcake. Although Mulligan quit a few weeks later, Bart feels he was a "dummy" for staying with Crockett but he was making good money at the time.  He still regrets not going to the WWF at that time.

He says that Vince pays good money and he would never knock him because he pays so well.  He went from the main event in WCW to the WWF opening match and made almost double the amount.  When he went to the WWF he was supposed to work 4 weeks with four days off and then 2 weeks with 2 days off but it turned into that he was gone for 3 mos. at a time.

He helped train Undertaker and Goldust.  He trained Goldust for 4 ˝ years.  He feels Goldust could call him but he doesn't and wouldn't go into it further. He has is not bitter but he never got a dime from anyone he trained.  He also trained Booker T and Stevie Ray in Texas and made the call to Dusty Rhodes to get them jobs in WCW.  They started at $80,000 and their last contract was for $950,000 apiece. He says that Booker and Stevie promised him that if Bart could get them a tryout a bass boat would be sitting in his backyard.  That was 10 years ago and he is still waiting for his boat.

He loves all the WWE guys.  Although he doesn't know HHH personally he seems nice.  He says Arn Anderson is one of the sweetest guys he has ever met.  He helped Arn get his start after Arn sent a tape to Dusty.  Dusty called Bart into his office and asked if he knew Arn.  Bart said Arn looked like Ole and Gene Anderson and one week later he was in as part of the Minnesota Wrecking Crew.  He wonders if Arn remembers Peahead, a wrestler in Pensacola who was one of the best who never could get a push.

Sometimes he is ashamed to be called a pro wrestler when sees Raw.  He cites as an example when Hurricane recently wrestled HHH and went for a dropkick and completely missed HHH. HHH staggered and then realized he wasn't hit.  Bart feels things like that  make people turn off the TV.  It looks too phony.  In his day, you got chewed out if something like that happened.  If it happened 2 times he was fired.  If a guy cursed during an interview he would be fired.  Now wrestlers cuss and talk about sex in their interviews.  He gets fired up on this topic because  wrestling is his life.

Phantom calls in and asks for Bart's opinion on Austin.  Bart had a touch in Austin's career before he got big.  He doesn't condone what Austin did to Debra and would tell him that if he saw him.  Bart wasn't pushed like Austin was but he held every belt in WCW except for "Ric Flair's belt."  He said his Desperado gimmick ended after Flair went to turner and said how could they give those 3 guys TV time and give the champ nothing.  The very next day his partners were fired.  They couldn't fire Bart because of his contract.

Bart closes by giving his support to our troops.

Judah Friedlander
www.judahfriedlander.com

Comedian/Actor Judah Friedlander returned to show and the boys complimented him on his recent role on the Craig Kilborne show playing a war correspondent in Iraq.

Judah met both Vince and Jericho on the Kilborne show and says they are both cool guys and are very funny.  Judah does the world's best Vince McMahon impression, perhaps it is because they are from the same town in Maryland.

Judah was in the green room with Vince, who was not what he expected.  One of the members of the band Breaking Benjamin had a newborn baby and Vince was playing with baby making baby noises.  Judah made a requests for the return of Col. Mustafa and Gen. Adnan so that  Austin could beat them up.

Judah will be pitching his idea to the WWE for him to be brought in as a wrestler named World Champion.  The gimmick is that he will rip people on the mic and then lose in seconds by a clothesline and stretchered out at which time JR will go "there he goes, World Champion."

Judah tells some cool stories about how he was supposed to be in Old School and Road Trip and how his part was written down in Zoolander.
