Smackdown Live kicks off with the official contract signing for the WWE Championship match at Fastlane. Shane and Stephanie McMahon are in the ring with a table. WWE Champion, Daniel Bryan and Eric Rowan are already in the ring. Shane and Stephanie talk up Kingston and show a montage of some of his best moments, including his recent success against Bryan then introduce him. Kingston comes out flanked by the rest of the New Day.

Before Kingston can put pen to paper, WWE Chairman, Vince McMahon comes out and talks up Kingston before telling him he’s not the person he thinks is best for business to take on Bryan. He introduces Bryan’s new Fastlane opponent, Kevin Owens.

Owens makes his way to the ring as a shocked Shane and Stephanie look on. Meanwhile, all three members of New Day are going completely nuts as they have no choice but head to the back as the contract is signed. The show takes its first commercial time out.

When we return, Owens is explaining to Shane and Stephanie that, although he’s thankful for the opportunity, he understands why Kingston is upset. Owens, in a show of good sportsmanship asks the siblings if he can team with Kingston later in the show to face Bryan and Rowan. The McMahons will see what they can do.

In the arena, the Bar, Sheamus and Cesaro are in the ring. The opponents are making their entrance. The roof comes off the building when the Hardy Boyz make their entrance.

Match 1: The Bar (Sheamus and Cesaro) vs. The Hardy Boyz (Matt and Jeff Hardy)

Jeff and Cesaro start the match. Matt tags in and spends most of his time in the ring getting beat up by the Bar. Matt makes it to his corner and tags Jeff. The brothers perform a series of double-team moves as the show heads to break.

During the break, Jeff Hardy gets knocked from the top rope allowing the Bar to take control. Hardy is able to perform a double Whisper-in-the-Wind and tag Matt. Matt goes for the Twist of Fate but its blocked by Cesaro. The Bar botch a double-team move and Jeff tags in. He nails Cesaro with a Twist of Fate then a Swanton Bomb for the win.

Winner: The Hardy Boyz

Ricochet and Aleister Black are talking backstage when they interrupted by the Ravishing Russian, Lana. Ricochet and Black are scheduled to face Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura later in the show.

Carmella and United States Champion, R-Truth make their entrance. The United States Championship Open Challenge returns after the break.

We return with the announcement of the “Greatest Intercontinental Champion of All Time,” The Honky Tonk Man will join D-Generation X in the 2019 WWE Hall of Fame Class.

Back in the ring, after a “seven-second dance break,” Andrade and Zalina Vega come out to answer the open challenge. Before they make it to the ring, Rey Mysterio sprints past them to hit the ring first. With both men in the ring, R-Truth is understandably confused. He asks Carmella what would John Cena do? Carmella says that Cena would battle them both. Initially, Truth’s plan is to battle none of them but he quickly changes his mind in an effort to make John Cena proud.

Match 2: R-Truth (with Carmella) defends the United States Championship against Andrade (with Zalina Vega) and Rey Mysterio under Triple Threat rules.

Mysterio sends Andrade and Truth to the floor. Andrade picks Truth off the apron and powerbombs him to the floor. Mysterio tries his sliding splash to the floor but Almas counters with a mid-air dropkick as the show goes to break.

We come back to find Truth in control of Andrade but Mysterio broke it up with a hurricanrana. Andrade went for the double-knees out of the corner but Truth avoided them and hit a scissors kick. Truth performed Cena signature poses before delivering a Five-Knuckle Shuffle. Vega stepped up and pulled Andrade out of the Attitude Adjustment before Carmella pulled her from the apron. Mysterio got both men in position for the 619 but Truth was able to duck it and roll up Mysterio to retain.

Winner: R-Truth retains United States Championship

After the match, Mysterio and Andrade continued to mouth at each other to end the segment.

The Kingston and Owens versus Bryan and Rowan match was made official for the main event. Aleister Black and Ricochet versus Nakamura and Rusev is also announced for later in the show. Charlotte Flair will address the happenings on Raw after the break.

We come back to a recap of the opening segment before Charlotte Flair makes her entrance. Flair praised Vince McMahon for changing the main event of FastLane as well as putting her in the WWE Raw Women’s Championship match. Flair called herself a good soldier and the “Gold Standard.” Flair claimed that Lynch and Rousey fear her. According to Flair, thats why Lynch got arrested and thats why Rousey laid down the title. So, next week, she will go to Raw and be presented the Raw Women’s Championship.

Aleister Black and Ricochet make their entrance as the show goes to break.

We return to find Rusev and Nakamura already in the ring.

Match 3: Aleister Black and Ricochet vs. Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev (with Lana)

Ricochet and Black began the match in control of Nakamura until Shinsuke took out the knee of Ricochet. Ricochet spent several minutes being worked over on the opponents side of the ring. Ricochet s finally able to flip away from the corner and tags Black. Black comes in on fire until Rusev distracts him allowing Nakamura to kick him from the ring as the show goes to break.

During the break, Rusev and Nakamura continue to work over Black. As we return to live action, Black counters a side suplex and makes the corner to tag Ricochet. Ricochet uses speed to turn the tide against Rusev. He avoids the Matchka kick but gets caught with a spike slam. Ricochet is able to power out of a pin attempt and avoids the Accolade.

Rusev and Nakamura start to run at Ricochet and Ricochet caught Nakamura with a back elbow and pulled the rope down to send Rusev to the floor. Ricochet tags Black and takes out Rusev with a dive to the floor. Nakamura recovered and nailed Black with a Reverse Exploder. Black countered the Kinshasa with the Black Mass for the win.

Winner: Aleister Black and Ricochet

Backstage interviewer, Kayla Braxton caught up with AJ Styles in the back. She wanted to talk to Styles about a perceived slump he might be in. Styles admits that he did not beat Daniel Bryan but he will not stop trying to beat him to solidify his claim that Smackdown is the “House that AJ Styles built!” Randy Orton comes into frame to dispute Styles’ slogan.

Lacey Evans makes her walk out entrance as the show goes to break.

After the break, the announce desk of Tom Phillips, Corey Graves, and Byron Saxton addressed the return of Roman Reigns to Raw. A video package was shown outlining his leaving for leukemia treatment and ending with his announcement on Monday that he is in remission and will be returning to competition.

The New Day makes its entrance for the main event as the show goes to break.

We return with all four men in the ring and the match is set to begin.

Match 4: Kevin Owens and Kofi Kingston vs. Daniel Bryan and Eric Rowan

Kingston started the match against Eric Rowan Rowan dominated the early portion of the match until Kingston tagged in Owens. Owens was able to match Rowan with power before Bryan tagged in to face Owens. Owens dominates Bryan then tags in Kingston. Kingston backdrops Bryan to the floor and tags in Owens who dives on Bryan as the show goes to break.

When we return, Rowan is in control of Kingston. Bryan goes for the Lebell Lock but Kingston is able to get his leg over the bottom rope. Bryan sets up Kingston for the running dropkick. Kingston countered with double knees coming out of the corner and tags Owens.

Owens takes control and fights off both Rowan and Bryan. Owens goes to the top rope but he is pulled off by Rowan. Rowan throws Owens into the announce table. Kingston is able to dive on Rowan taking him down. Owens reenters the ring and catches Bryan with a Stunner for the pin.

Winner: Kevin Owens and Kofi Kingston

Kingston and Owens talk in the ring as the show closes for the week.
