On tonight’s episode of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s World Pro Wrestling Returns we get to see a match that took place at the Aore Nagoka in Nagoka, Niigata. Kenny Omega battles Hiroshi Tanahashi in a match that stems from the recently departed IWGP Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura. After Nakamura retained his title at Wrestle Kingdom 10, Kenny Omega pinned him in a tag match the night after at Korakuen Hall. Omega challenged Nakamura to a match for his IWGP Intercontinental Championship, that match would hit a roadblock when Nakamura gave his notice that he would be leaving New Japan Pro Wrestling. Omega would then approach Nakamura after his match on his last night in the company, Omega cuts a promo where he asks Shinsuke to tell the truth that he is scared of losing to Omega. Tanahashi steps up in defense of Shinsuke and tells Kenny he will take Nakamura’s place and battle him for the vacant IWGP Intercontinental Championship. The match is set for NJPW’s New Beginning in Niigata.
