Darren Young made his Raw return, along with Mr. Bob Backlund. Plus, more pieces were placed for the upcoming PPV.

This week, Raw came from my Paternal Lineage Home of Detroit, MI. Miz joined JBL, Byron Saxton and Michael Cole for the very important opening contest.

Battle Royal to determine the Number One Contender for Miz’ Intercontinental Title.

The Finish:

The final run of this match saw Apollo Crews eliminate Alberto Del Rio. Baron Corbin, the odds on favorite, went to the apron with Dolph Ziggler. Baron then eliminated his arch-nemesis, Ziggler, as Mr. Backlund watched intently. Darren Young stood back as Crews and Corbin battled it out. The two Next Generation Stars eliminated each other. Darren Young was the final man standing!

Your Winner: Darren Young
Raw Ranking: 2.75 out of a possible 5

Darren Young and Bob Backlund celebrated, post-match. Darren actually jumped up into Bob’s arms. How old is Backlund? That just seemed a tad risky . Smile.

New Day looked at the Wyatt Family Compound and they were obviously scared out of their minds.

Hope you all got the chance to swing by your local 7-11 on Monday. Since it WAS 7/11, the company gave away free Slurpees. Unfortunately, I forgot until AFTER I got back home from my errands. Dang it.

Shane and Stephanie were chatting in the office, as Raw returned. Papa Vince is due in house, a little later on. Neither sibling were exactly sure why their dad was coming to Raw. Maybe, just maybe, somebody was going to get their “walking papers”?

Seth Rollins walked up and said Vince was coming there to see him. Seth was confident that he would be the Top Draft Pick, next week. Seth admitted that he wasn’t supposed to talk about Roman Reigns, but he was going to do it, anyway. He had some special footage to share with the WWE Universe.

Raw showed stills of Brock Lesnar’s decimation of Mark Hunt at UFC 200. If you haven’t seen the post-match clip of Brock’s speech, it was amazing. It took my respect level for him up to an 11. (You can find that piece on YouTube. Out of respect for UFC, I won’t post the link but you can find it, if you wish.)

Brock was then asked about his SummerSlam match against Randy Orton. Brock knew his path was planned out and he was ready for Orton.

Backstage, Zack Ryder ran into Rusev. Zack felt he needed to re-prove himself, so he challenged Rusev to a fight. Before Rusev could respond to the challenge, Sheamus arrived and attacked Ryder. That led to…

Zack Ryder vs Sheamus

Zack really opened up on the Celtic Warrior with a Double Leg Trip and a La Bandera Clothesline that sent them both over the top. Sheamus recovered from the fall and a set of punches to send Ryder into the barricade. Sheamus sent Ryder back in the ring. Zack almost instantly recovered and hit a Baseball Slide and Dropkick to rock the Irish battler. Sheamus begged off but Zack would not be denied. Sheamus caught Zack with a Clothesline but missed a Corner Rush. Zack dropped Sheamus and pulled the two count. Zack went up top but Sheamus tripped and Crotched Long Island Iced-Z. Sheamus finished off Zack with the Brogue Kick!

Your Winner: Sheamus
Raw Ranking: 2.5

After the match, Rusev walked out to the ring. He stared down his former running buddy, Sheamus, but nothing came of it. Rusev then attacked Zack and eventually trapped him in the Accolade. Rusev bellowed that he accepted Zack’s challenge.

Tyler Breeze and Fandango got up in the masked faces of the Lucha Dragons. That led us to…

Breezango (Tyler Breeze and Fandango) vs the Lucha Dragons (Sin Cara and Kalisto)

The Finish:

Kalisto tagged in but slipped on the ropes. Thankfully, he wasn’t hurt and was able to hit a Springboard Crossbody. He followed that with a Spinning Back Heel Kick. Kalisto almost won with a Spike Hurancanrana. Tyler avoided the Salida Del Sol. Tyler rolled up Kalisto and then hit a Superkick to end this one.

Your Winners: Breezango
Raw Ranking: 2.0

The Rollins Report

Yep, another darn talk segment. Sigh. Seth said he was ready to upstage all the other interviewers. He had a one-on-one interview with Roman Reigns. It was obviously a “doctored” interview where clips were added in to “answer the questions”. After a way-too-long video segment, Dean Ambrose came out. He was happy that Seth pulled the “stick out of your butt” and got a sense of humor. Seth said that Dean’s championship reign made him laugh, since it is a joke. The two continued to go back and forth, insulting each other. Dean said Seth would have to pry the World title out of his cold, dead hands. Seth said he would see Dean, next week, and things would be as they should be.

Earlier, I spoke about UFC. I just heard on the news that the company has been sold for, get this, FOUR BILLION DOLLARS! It was bought, not long ago, for 2 MILLION. That’s one Heck of a return on investment.

Sami Zayn came out to watch Kevin Owens vs Cesaro. Kevin straight up refused to go to the ring as long as Sami was there. Stephanie McMahon made the decision to send security out to remove Sami. But before the match…

A limo pulled up. Renee Young was there to meet Vincent Kennedy McMahon! Vince explained he was there to announce who would be in charge of Smackdown when it goes live, next week! No one, except Vince, knew who was getting this much sought after position. Vince said he, himself, wasn’t 100% sure about who was taking the Blue Brand. He might event change his mind, after he got out there. He ordered everyone to be ready to come out on the stage to hear the announcement.

Kevin Owens vs Cesaro

The Finish:

Cesaro donned JBL’s cowboy hat and nailed the Running European Uppercut that sent Kevin into the barricade. Cesaro hit a Crossbody. Back in the ring, Kevin tried for a Tornado DDT but it was blocked. Cesaro was tripped on the top rope. Kevin hit the Burning Hammer and the TKO (Totally Kevin Owens) to finish off the Swiss Superman.

Your Winner: Kevin Owens
Raw Ranking: 2.5

After the match, Sami Zayn returned to attack Kevin. When security escorted Sami to the back, Cesaro took the opportunity to drop Kevin and put him in the Cesaro Swing!

Renee Young interviewed The Club. Karl Anderson said Enzo and Cass were in big trouble for getting in their business. A.J. Styles knew John Cena was off rehearsing for the ESPY awards. The Club are considering crashing the show to continue their beating down of John Cena.

Social Outcasts cut a seriously meaningless promo about National Blueberry Muffin Day. No, NO, NO…it’s National Slurpee Day! Smile.

Heath Slater (with Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas) vs Titus O’Neil

The Finish:

Heath hit a DDT on Titus. Titus came right back to send Heath across the ring. Shoulder Tackle and Clothesline by the Florida Gator. Titus caught Heath coming off the ropes and nailed three Backbreakers. He then tossed Heath aside like he weighed nothing. Titus barked at the moon and then Splashed Heath to set up Clash of the Titus!

Your Winner: Titus O’Neil
Raw Ranking: 2.0

Renee talked with Sasha Banks. Sasha is set to battle Dana Brooke. Sasha said her complete focus has been on Dana…and Charlotte’s Women’s title.

We got another look at the Wyatt Compound. New Day and the Wyatts will battle, next.

It was announced that Bob Backlund and Darren Young will be on the next episode of MizTV.

The Wyatt Family sent a woman out, wearing a sheep mask. She distracted New Day, which allowed the Wyatts to attack. It is a brief but chaotic battle amongst cars and trucks. Xavier Woods tried to hide but Bray Wyatt found him and dragged him away. I have the funny feeling we are about to get an All-New Xavier Woods…made Xavier OF THE Woods or something silly like that. Nope, Bray brought him back and the fight continued. New Day eventually came out on top but you just know this is the first of many wild matches to come.

Big Cass cut a promo about how everyone, including Enzo Amore and Big Cass, want John Cena’s spot. Unlike The Club, Cass and Enzo will only take John’s spot…when they EARN it. Cass felt it was wrong how The Club continue to come out only to beat up John Cena. Enzo agreed and accused The Club of having no backbone. Cass stated they weren’t going to just kick back and wait for The Club to attack. They are bringing the fight to Styles, Anderson and Gallows.

A.J. Styles responded to the rant by Enzo and Cass. Styles gave Enzo and Cass one final chance to walk away from this fight. Like THAT is gonna happen. Enzo let it be known he was headed to the ring and Cass had One Word to describe The Club…S-A-W-F-T!

Enzo Amore and Colin “Big Cass” Cassidy vs Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows (w/A.J. Styles)

The Finish:

Cass got the hot tag and laid out Karl with a Clothesline. He followed that up with the Empire Elbow. Cass launched Karl with a Fallaway Slam. Karl stumbled to the corner, where he got blasted with a Stinger Splash. Cass then booted Karl. Enzo and Cass connected with the Bada Boom Shaka Laka but Styles got in the middle of things. The ref called for the bell, DQing The Club.

Your Winners (by Disqualification): Enzo and Cass
Raw Ranking: 2.75

The Club tried to mug Enzo, post-match. However, John Cena miraculously showed up and joined Big Cass in running off Styles and his crew.

Sasha Banks vs Dana Brooke (w/Charlotte)

The Finish:

Sasha hit her Double Knee Drop, in the corner. She almost got the three. The two fought near the ropes and Dana kicked Sasha as Banks went up top. Sasha blocked a Superplex and sent Dana tumbling off the ropes. Dana blocked the Lung Blower/BankStatement. Sasha would not be denied and ended up hitting the Lung Blower and BankStatemetn. Despite trying her best to reach the ropes, Sasha kept her far enough way that Dana had no choice but to Tap Out!

Your Winner (By Submission): Sasha Banks
Raw Ranking: 2.5

Charlotte cuts a promo on Sasha. Charlotte said Sasha, like anyone else, can win a given match. Charlotte challenged Sasha to face Dana, again, on Smackdown. If Sasha wins then, she MIGHT be considered for a title shot. MIGHT!

Stephanie strolled out to the ring and then Vinny Mac Power Walked his way down to make the Huge Announcement. Shane joined them and both siblings talked about the wonderful things they have done for the company. Shane had the fans tell Vince who was the better McMahon offspring. Vince didn’t give a damn what the fans thought. Vince removed Shane from Raw…and gave him Smackdown. Stephanie will continue to be in charge of Raw. Vince made it crystal clear that he expects his children to compete against each other. Vince will be evaluating not only ratings but social media metrics, merchandising, live event attendance, etc… Vince revealed that whichever of his children does the best job MIGHT inherit the Keys to the Kingdom.

Vince instructed his kids to figure out who they want as their show’s General Manager. If Stephanie and Shane do not pick a GM…he will. Shane finished the segment by mentioning that Stephanie is obviously scared. Stephanie responded by slapping her brother. Stephanie then left the ring as Raw drew to a close.
