John Cena is not very happy with The Club. He decided to return their beat down by joining forces with an unlikely set of allies.

Dean Ambrose came down to join five men who were already seated on top of ladders, inside the ring. Dean, Chris Jericho, Sami Zayn, Alberto Del Rio, Cesaro and Kevin Owens will all fight in Money in the Bank for the briefcase. Owens chided Lilian for wasting time introducing all of them. Owens took a shot at Sami Zayn. Jericho jumped in the mix to say he was still the best in the world at what he does. Owens was super-confident that he was going to take the Money in the Bank Briefcase.

Dean mocked Kevin for having it all figured out. Dean wanted to get down to fighting but Kevin had more to say. Kevin knew he would win not only the briefcase but also the World title. Kevin said he would face anyone that WWE wanted to throw at him. Sami stopped Kevin to say that the briefcase was an opportunity not a guarantee. Sami promised to give anyone in the locker room a shot. Dean didn’t care who he fought: a polar bear, aliens, mole people, whatever.

Alberto jumped in, in Spanish, to go off on all of his foes. Jericho tried to get Cesaro to shut up but it didn’t work all that well. Jericho told everyone that HE crated Money in the Bank. Cesaro then asked why Jericho never won a single Money in the Bank match. Sami tried to pin down Jericho as to when he won Money in the Bank. The fans started the “Stupid Idiot” chant towards Jericho. Chris said he would take them all to a higher level by being in the ring with him. Jericho said he would give them all the “Gift of Jericho”. As it turned out, Jericho got blasted by Dean and then everyone else got involved.

Wait a minute! Teddy Long showed up! Teddy looked great. Chris went off on Long for being there. Jericho reminded Teddy that he no longer worked for WWE. Long said he didn’t…yet. Long rambled on about so many different match options that he wanted for the six guys. Stephanie came out to chat with the former GM of Smackdown. Teddy wanted to run Smackdown. Stephanie explained that the decision about who was running the show, yet. Teddy waned to chat with Shane. Stephanie said Shane was on vacation. Stephanie told Teddy to “Get to Steppin’”. Stephanie then turned to the six men in the ring. She said Sami Zayn would battle Alberto Del Rio. Dean Ambrose will fight Kevin Owens. Cesaro will get to fight Chris Jericho.

Cesaro vs Chris Jericho

The Finish:

Jericho blasted Cesaro in the temple with an Enziguri. Two count. The two men slugged it out. Jericho blocked the Neutralizer. Jericho tried to apply the Walls of Jericho but Cesaro fought. Cesaro rolled through the move. Cesaro Swing! Sharpshooter! Chris Jericho tapped out!

Your Winner: Cesaro
Raw Ranking: 3.0 out of a possible 5

Raw then looked at how The Club jumped John Cena. That mugging also included A.J. Styles, who rejoined his friends, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. The Club spoiled Cena’s return to Raw. That has set up…John Cena vs A.J. Styles! Holy Moses! That one is going to be epic!

Raw did a nice tribute to Muhammed Ali.

Seth Rollins discussed his rise within the WWE. He showed a clip of The Shield’s arrival. Seth then explained that he wanted to be THE Best not One of the Best. Seth felt that Roman was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Seth said he cashed inat Wrestlemania to have HIS moment. Seth then talked about his injury. They showed how Seth got hurt. Seth felt the title was taken from him in an unfair way. Seth’s leg injury was one of the worst possible. Seth promised himself, every single day, that he would get back the title. That was his motivation. Seth did not consider Roman a real champion, only a “place holder”. Seth knew Roman was just keeping Seth’s throne warm for him. Raw finished the segment by showing Seth’s fantastic return.

Lana was in the ring, looking gorgeous in Russian Red. She introduced her man, Rusev.

Rusev vs Jack Swagger
Non-Title Match

Titus O’Neil came out to watch this match.

The Finish:

Rusev kicked away at Swagger. Running Kick to Jack’s face. Rusev beat his chest like King Kong and ylelleda t the crowd. Rusev battled out of a Rear Chin Lock. Rusev missed a Corner Splash but Jack didn’t. Uppercut by Rusev. Rolling Belly to Belly Powerslam by Jack brought him a two. Jack tried to put Rusev in the Patriot Lock but Rusev rolled out of it. Rusev bailed out to the floor. The two men crashed into each other. Rusev pushed Jack into Titus O’Neil and slid in the ring.

Titus jumped in the ring and took out Rusev. Jack also blasted the U.S. Champ. Rusev and Lana headed up the ramp as two Real Americans did the “We the People” chant.

John Cena came out to discuss his situation with The Club. John was completely irked by the actions of Styles, Gallows and Anderson. Raw reviewed the Cena/Club encounter. The crowd was somewhat hostile towards him. Cena knew something was gone, a special moment between Cena and A.J. Styles. John got he “Let’s Go Cena/Cena Sucks” sing song chant rolling. Cena appreciated that for a full 2 minutes, the crowd chanted for him then Styles. John said only The Rock gave him that level of electricity. John needed an answer from Styles of “Why A.J. Why?”. John asked Styles to come out and explain himself.

Styles’ music hit but A.J. was not alone. The Club came out in unison. They stayed on the stage to address Cena. Cena actually mentioned the “Bullet Club”. Styles said he had a plan to shake John’s hand and then punch him in the face. Styles stated that John insults him just by being in the ring. Styles promised to run circles around John. John was taken aback that Styles didn’t have any new insults to throw at him. John brought up all of Styles’ failures in the WWE. John accused Styles of being desperate. John told Styles that A.J. was not capable of going with him.

Styles countered that he could go back to a lot of places that would welcome him with open arms. Styles said there was nowhere that Cena could go. Styles knew that John Cena “Buried” people. The Club then strolled towards the ring. John didn’t back up a step. Styles ordered the attack. Suddenly, New Day rushed into the ring to protect John! The Club hit the bricks.

Raw looked back at Enzo Amore’s concussion from last month. The Vaudevillains were waiting in the ring.

The Vaudevillains vs Enzo Amore and Big Cass

Enzo did his classic intro. Thanks to my buddy, Chris, for explaining to this old man what a “Certified G” was. Smile. Cass paid tribute to Ali, as did Enzo.

Enzo began against Simon Gotch. Enzo tried for a Hip Toss but Gotch blocked it. Tag to Aiden English. Snap Mare and Gotch tagged back in. Gotch pulled a two count. Enzo dove for his corner but didn’t make it…at first. Cass eventually got he tag and tore through both foes. Big Corner Splash and Empire Elbow by Cass. Aiden made the save. Enzo rushed in and took a Big Boot. Aiden threw Enzo into the ropes, like he did at Payback. Cass saw it and snapped. Cass just exploded like crazy. The ref tried to pull Cass back but failed.

Your Winners (by Disqualification): The Vaudevillains
Raw Ranking: 2.5

Cass just kept beating on the Vaudevillains, after the match. He hugged Enzo to be sure his little buddy was ok.

Backstage, Sami Zayn was taping up. He was asked about Alberto Del Rio. Sami knew he was the Underdog but he was sure he could beat Del Rio. Alberto came in and mocked Sami. Alberto said mens like Sami did not deserve to be a champion. He kept calling him “perro”, which is Spanish for Dog.

There were more tribute to Muhammed Ali.

Teddy Long was dancing to his ringtone, which was his own theme music. Stephanie was trying to watch Swerved on the WWENetwork. Teddy suggested a Fatal Four Way Tag Team Match with New Day vs Enzo and Cass vs The Vaudevillains vs The Club. Stephanie just didn’t understand how Teddy got in the building. Teddy mentioned money. Stephanie took the idea and told marketing to promote the four team fight. Stephanie took full credit for the match concept. Jeez.

Del Rio kicked Sami and went back up top. Double Stomp!

Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens chatted, backstage. Kevin warned Dean to be cautious of Owens. Kevin noticed that Dean has been “more off the Deep End” than usual. Dean mentioned several times that he beat Kevin, recently.

The announcers discussed Seth’s side of the title picture situation. Now, it was Roman’s time to talk. Roman was proud of their Shield debut and run on top. Roman was the Terry Gordy of the trio, while Seth was the Michael Hayes. The Shield imploded, must like how the Freebirds fell apart. Roman still couldn’t believe that Seth cashed in Money in the Bank, at Wrestlemania, to take the title. Roman felt massive anger at the betrayal. Roman took a year to get his revenge. At this year’s Wrestlemania, Roman finally got the Wrestlemania Championship Moment that he deserved. Raw, again, looked at Seth Rollins’ sneak attack. Roman knew Seth couldn’t beat him in a face to face encounter. Roman has been waiting for more than a year to get his revenge. These two will go full force in Las Vegas. Roman knew he would still be champ, after Money in the Bank.

Dean went under the ring and got a ladder. He set it up right under the Money in the Bank briefcase, which has been hanging from the roof, all night. Kevin Owens pushed over the ladder with Dean on top. Kevin then decided to go up top. He stopped and screamed that the briefcase was his. He didn’t go up the ladder, after all.

Darren Young and Bob Backlund were back for another Life Coach moment. I really like this pairing. Bob told Darren not to run but to walk briskly. Bob took Darren’s car keys so Young would have to walk 8 hours to get to the next show. Jeez.

Charlotte Flair and Dana Brooke came out to the ring. Raw flashed back to Charlotte’s hurtful dismissal of her father, Ric Flair. Charlotte knew how to admit when she was wrong. She wanted to apologize to her dad but she knew she needed to say what she said. Charlotte said her father is only dead to her professionally. She still wanted to have a father/daughter relationship. She just didn’t want to share the ring with her daddy.

She was cut off by the arrival of Natalya and Becky Lynch. Charlotte was surprised that Becky and Nattie would interrupt her. Charlotte insulted Nattie’s family. Becky warned Dana that Charlotte will eventually stab her (Dana) in the back. Nattie joined in to explain that Charlotte is a master manipulator. Charlotte laughed off the comments. Dana seemed to be listening to them. Dana stepped away from Charlotte…then jumped Nattie and Becky. Dana and Charlotte just annihilated the good girls. Samoan Driver to Becky. Charlotte and Dana then stood over their fallen adversaries.

The announcers discussed NXT Takeover: The End. There will be several great matches. The one that I want to see is A-Double, Austin Aries vs Shinsuke Nakamura. Much thanks to good friend (and occasional contributor to 1Wrestling.com) Frank MacDonald for giving me the heads up about that great card. Well worth a month’s service fee for the WWENetwork. Smile.

Epico and Primo did another pro-Puerto Rico promo. Yawn. They went on about some drink that was supposed to be good for your health. Whatever. Give me my green tea and water.

Breezango came out for the next match. They showed Tyler shaving Fandango’s back. Eww… Tyler and Fandango now wear matching outfits. Golden Truth then came out for the match.

Tyler Breeze (w/Fandango) vs R-Truth (w/Goldust)

Truth ducked an attack by Tyler. Tyler punched away but Truth hit a Flying Leg Lariat. Leg Drop to Tyler. Fandango got involved and Goldy took him out. Everyone got in the ring and the ref called for the bell.

Your Winner: Match Thrown Out
Raw Ranking: N/A

Teddy Long returned. Teddy had a solution for this situation. He restarted the match, as a tag team match. Security came out and ushered Long out of the arena. I guess the match wasn’t going to happen.

Teddy Long was being escorted out but he was stopped by Stephanie. She insulted the daylights out of the former GM of Smackdown. Stephanie told Teddy that SHE was going to be running Smackdown. She then ordered Teddy to leave the building, for good. Bummer.

WWE ran one more very touching tribute to Muhammed Ali. I was hoping for a few video pieces, like his appearance at Wrestlemania I or his legendary conflict with Antonio Inoki. The social media posts were nice, tho. Michael Cole said Ali was a part of WWE history. WWE then ran the official tribute video of the legendary figure. The video mentioned that Gorgeous George inspired Ali to do his “I am the Greatest” speech. They did show some clips of Ali against Inoki (thank you) and Gorilla Monsoon. PUT HIM IN NEXT YEAR’S HALL OF FAME!

Ali got a standing ovation from the crowd.

Next week, the Ambrose Asylum returns with a Shield revival.

The Club (Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson and A.J. Styles) vs New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods)
Six Man Tag Team Match

New Day insulted The Club by trying to figure out what kind of club they were: Hair club (nah), Mickey Mouse club (wait…copyright problems. Smile). Xavier Woods said they were THE championship club. Woods said their club was the only one that truly matters because…New Day Rocks! New Day slid in the ring for a Mexican Stand Off. The fight got rolling as all six men went wild on each other. Big E charged and ended up hitting the ring steps. Woods took down Styles and then hit a Flip Dive. He came back in and rocked Styles with a wild Forearm. Karl dropped Woods with a jumping kick. Styles Clash, on the floor, took out Woods.

Your Winners: Match Never Started
Raw Ranking: N/A

After the break, Big E and Kofi still wanted to start the match.

Kofi went afrter Anderson. Corner Splash by Kofi.

Kofi Kingston and Big E vs The Club

Kofi rolled out of the enemy corner. Tag to Big E after a Gut Wrench Suplex. Double team by new Day. Belly to Booty sent Karl sailing. New Day is approaching the record as longest reigning tag champs. Apron Splash by Big E. Gallows and Styles attacked Big E, on the floor. All 3 Club members took turns working over Big E. 2 count. Rear Chin Lock by Gallows. Elbow Drops to Big E’s chest. Tag to Karl. He missed the Backsplash Senton.

Tags on both sides Kofi rocked Styles. Controlled Frenzy by the tag champ. Boom Drop! Kofi took down Gallows. Styles tried to take advantage but Kofi stayed solid. Kofi missed a Crossbody but still escaped the Styles Clash. SOS but Anderson made the save. It broke down into complete anarchy. Phenomenal Forearm by Styles.

Your Winners: The Club
Raw Ranking: 2.5

The Club did their best to slice and dice the New Day. Suddenly, John Cena rushed out to save the day. John blasted Gallows and Anderson. Styles bailed out and avoided John. Styles waited for Cena to turn and hit the Pearl Harbor. Kofi got back in the mix as did Big E. Cena with the FU/AA to Gallows. John, Kofi and Big E owned the ring.
