HULK HOGAN WINS MAJOR VICTORY IN COURT BATTLE

Judge Pamela Campbell denied an effort by Gawker to seek a new trial and to reduce the $150 million in damages owed to Hulk Hogan as a result of the lawsuit Hogan filed to seek damages for invading his privacy by publishing a video of him having sex with his best friend’s wife.

The judge upheld the jury verdict as well as the damages against Gawker.

Gawker has vowed to appear, but under Florida law they must present a bond of $50 million to appeal. Each defendent must post the bond – Gawker as a company, Gawker founder Nick Denton, and former editor A.J. Daulerio. The total bond that must be posted is $150 million, but the defendents are asking the judge to reduce the bond amounts.
