Crystal Ball: Hell in a Cell (2015)

Jay Shannon draws upon all his predictive skills to try and figure out the winners and losers of an upcoming major wrestling event.

WWE is ready to bring out the infamous Cell for the annual PPV. Several championships are on the line but those are almost secondary to the “End” of the biggest feud in a generation, Brock Lesnar vs Undertaker. Let’s take a look at what WWE is offering on Sunday…

Dolph Ziggler, Cesaro and Neville vs King Wade) Barrett, Sheamus and Rusev
Six Man Match during Pre-Show

This is a pretty even match, on paper. The Heels won the first encounter between these men. I’m thinking it’s time for the Faces to come back and take this one. It would start off the night on a positive note.

Predicted Winners: Neville, Dolph Ziggler and Cesaro
Predicted Grade: 3.0 out of a possible 5

John Cena United States Open Challenge

I’ve thought this one through for some time. The first question is: Who will challenge? The second is: Will that person win? I ran through just about the entire roster of WWE AND NXT. I was pretty sure it was looking like Samoa Joe would make a surprise appearance and challenge. Then, I watched Smackdown. I’m now pretty sure that John will be facing “Prince Pretty” Tyler Breeze. If he DOES enter the match, I’m expecting a title switch.

Predicted Entrant: Tyler Breeze
Predicted Winner (and NEW U.S. Champ): Tyler Breeze
Predicted Grade: 2.5

Kevin Owens vs Ryback
Intercontinental Title Match

I appreciate both of these men for their abilities. Ryback paid a ton of dues before he was finally given a decent push. Kevin Owens was a certified Legend in the indies, before joining the WWE. This match could easily steal the show. In the end, I think Owens will survive this challenge and move on into his next big feud.

Predicted Winner: Kevin Owens
Predicted Grade: 3.0

The Dudley Boyz vs New Day
World Tag Team Title Match

Bubba Ray and D’Von are 100 times the team that New Day is or ever will be. Honestly, The Dudleys should have annihilated Kofi and Big E and Xavier form the word “go”. That, of course, would have made for lousy TV. I really think the Dudleys are ready to take the straps. I know in my heart that this prediction won’t probably come true but I’m going with the Dudleys.

Predicted Winners (and NEW Tag Team Champions): The Dudley Boyz
Predicted Grade: 3.0

Charlotte vs Nikki Bella
Divas Championship Match

As much as I can’t believe that I’m admitting it, Nikki Bella has turned into a decent wrestler. Charlotte is also fantastic in the ring. Nikki had an amazing run as the champion…and will again some day. Sunday just won’t be the beginning of the next title run for Nikki.

Predicted Winner: Charlotte
Predicted Grade: 3.75

Seth Rollins vs “Demon” Kane
WWE World Title Match

If Kane loses this one, “Corporate” Kane will lose his executive position within The Authority. Sadly, I think the suit and tie are about to be retired. Kane is going into the match with a wonky wheel and you just know that Seth will target it. I know everyone will be waiting for Sheamus to cash in but I doubt that will happen. Seth has been pushed way down in importance, Sunday, and I can’t imagine them doing something shocking, as it relates to the World title.

Predicted Winner: Seth Rollins
Predicted Grade: 2.75

Roman Reigns vs Bray Wyatt
Hell in a Cell Match

This one is supposed to bring an end to this feud. Supposedly, no one can get in or out of the structure. I have the sinking feeling that Bray will manage to pull some serious shenanigans in this one. Despite all that, Roman will overcome the odds and move on to challenging for gold. The Wyatts, on the other hand, are likely headed into a brutal feud with the Dudley Boyz.

Predicted Winner: Roman Reigns
Predicted Grade: 4.0

The Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar
Hell in a Cell Match

I both love and hate this match. I love it because I know it is going to become an Instant Classic (I know, totally over-used phrase). I hate it because it is almost impossible to determine a winner. Brock is much younger, stronger, faster, etc… Undertaker is nearly unbeatable…though Brock did do it. Undertaker is at the end of his career and Brock is well into his, as well. Undertaker is poised to celebrate his 25th anniversary with the company. Brock has been on an incredible roll, over the last couple of years. Undertaker has excelled in Hell in a Cell matches. Hmmm…where did I stash that infamous Ceremonial Coin of mine?

The one thing that could tilt this match would be if one of the men were to get a legit injury. That is what, by most accounts, led to the Death of The Streak. Undertaker is not a young man, anymore. IF he doesn’t get injured, Undertaker would be my pick to win. That would bring this feud to a satisfying end for the fans (and me). Being a booker and storyline creator, in the past, Undertaker winning the match would be such an outstanding ending to the tale of the Dead Man vs The Beast. Sorry, Brock, but Undertaker needs this one to ring down the curtain on his career.

Predicted Winner: The Undertaker
Predicted Grade: 5.0 (Yes, I went there)

In Conclusion:

It appears that the Dean Ambrose and Partner vs Wyatt Family match has been scrapped. It might be re-added on Raw or Smackdown, next week.

For the most part, this will be a mediocre event. It would be an excellent Monday Night Raw but as a Pay Per View, it would be luke warm. Except for Undertaker vs Brock. That match will be talked about for many years to come. It may well be the measuring stick by which all Feud Ending Battles will be compared. I’ll be in and out on Sunday afternoon but there is just NO WAY that I will miss that Main Event. If it doesn’t take Match of the Year, I’ll be stunned.
