Crystal Ball: Bound For Glory 2015

Jay Shannon uses all his predictive skills to try and determine the winners and losers of an upcoming major wrestling event.

TNA is set to offer its biggest show of the year. Every title will be on the line. Feuds will come to an end while others will begin. Earl Hebner will finally be recognized for his decades of dedicated service as he is granted entry into the TNA Hall of Fame. Let’s take a look at the matches and I’ll do my best to sort out what may happen on Sunday evening.

Kurt Angle vs Eric Young

Eric Young has been taking credit for Kurt’s re-injured neck. He has bragged that Kurt would NEVER return, thanks to Young’s actions. Eric has been slipping since he turned his back on TNA to work with Global Force. I can’t imagine Eric getting the win over the former Olympian. Eric will likely threaten Kurt with a Piledriver but Kurt will pique the ankle and clamp on the AngleLock, likely with the Grapevine added, and Eric will tap out.

Predicted Winner (by Submission): Kurt Angle
Predicted Grade: 3.0 out of a possible 5

Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards (The Wolves) vs Brian Myers (Meyers) and Trevor Lee
TNA World Tag Team Title Match

Brian’s surname has been spelled both ways, so I included them both. This match should be quite excellent. Brian and Trevor work so well together. I just don’t see the invaders taking the straps from the multiple time champions.

Predicted Winners: The Wolves
Predicted Grade: 4.25

Robbie E vs Jessie Godderz vs Mr. Anderson vs Tyrus vs Aiden O’Shea vs Abyss vs Chris Melendez vs Eli Drake vs Mahabali Shera
Bound for Gold Gauntlet Match

I have to admit, I like Gauntlet Matches. They help showcase good talent in short bursts of conflict. This winner of this one will get a future shot at the World Title. While I can make a case for just about any one of them men above getting the win, I’m going with an odd choice. Tyrus really hasn’t had much of a chance to stand at the top, by himself. I have a strange feeling that Ethan (if he survives the World title match), just may have to battle his bodyguard.

Predicted Winner: Tyrus
Predicted Grade: 2.75

Tigre Uno vs DJZ vs Andrew Everett vs T.J. Perkins (Manik)
Ultimate X Match for the X-Division Title

This one is going to steal the show, no doubt. I’ve had a massive problem trying to figure this one out. All four men are excellent competitors, though I have to admit having minimal experience watching Everett. I do think at least one title will change hands at the show. This one seems to most likely to go to a new owner. Which one will get the strap? Everett would seem the most likely, since he is relatively unknown to the others. I’m thinking that Perkins is going to begin his new existence, sans the mask, by scooting across the ropes and taking the X-Title.

Predicted Winner (and NEW Champion): T.J. Perkins/Manik
Predicted Grade: 4.75

Gail Kim vs Awesome Kong
Knockout Title Match

These two women have been the cornerstones of the Knockout division for so long. They are possibly the two greatest female wrestlers of the modern era. This match may not be filled with the flash and pizzazz of the X-Division match but it will be a solid affair with both women coming so close. Sadly, I had a sneaking suspicion that Taryn Terrell and the Dollhouse are going to ruin this classic battle.

Predicted Winner: Match Thrown Out
Predicted Grade: 3.75

Ethan Carter III vs Matt Hardy vs Drew Galloway
Triple Threat Match for the World title, Jeff Hardy as the Special Guest Referee

This match reminds me of my Grandmother’s favorite dish…Ice Box Stew. In that recipe, “Mom” would find a ton of things in the fridge that just wouldn’t seem to go together and combine them, in a crock pot, and make a fantastic meal. This match has Carter, Matt, Jeff, Tyrus, Drew…and possibly Dixie Carter. Feels like chaos a brewing. With Jeff as the ref, it would seem a given that Matt becomes the new World Champ. Not going to happen. Since I think Tyrus is going to win the Bound for Gold match, he may want to go against Matt or Drew, not his “boss”. Drew has been given an off and on push since arriving in the company. Drew would seem to be the most logical choice to end the streak of EC3 and take the title. Ethan still has at least 2 good challengers ahead of him: Tyrus and Jeff Hardy. I’m expecting Jeff to “aid” Ethan in retaining. It will temporarily turn Jeff Heel and may even set up a Matt vs Jeff feud…or Jeff vs Drew. Tyrus will then challenge (and fail) to upend Ethan. Around the time of Slammiversary, Jeff will finally get his shot and end the title run and unbeaten streak of Ethan Carter III.

Predicted Winner: Ethan Carter III
Predicted Grade: 4.0

In Conclusion:

TNA may flesh out the show with another match or two. While this may appear to be one of the weaker cards in the Bound for Glory series, I think the men and women involved are going to give beyond 100% to make this show an outstanding outing.
