Crystal Ball: Bound For Glory 2014

Jay Shannon utilizes all his predictive abilities to try and pick the winners and losers of an upcoming major wrestling event.

TNA is taking a big risk and doing their flagship event, Bound for Glory, from Tokyo, Japan. The World title isn’t on the line, which is surprising, but there will be quite a few good matches. Let’s take a look and I’ll do my best to figure this out. Just so you know, this column was written prior to the taping so no cheating and looking at the spoilers. Smile.
The Great Muta & Yoshihiro Tajiri vs. James Storm & The Great Sanada.

Predictions:

James had Sanada turn against his mentor, The Great Muta. Storm has been building his Revolution group. Storm’s team has the youth advantage, while Muta and Tajiri have the experience edge. I just have to think that Muta and Tajiri are going to overcome some underhanded antics to defeat the upstart Revolution.

Predicted Winners: Great Muta and Tajiri
Predicted Grade: 3.0 out of a possible 5

Tommy Dreamer & Abyss vs. Team 3D: Hardcore Match.

On Sunday, Bully Ray and Devon are going into the TNA Hall of Fame. They also get to go up against possibly two of the most brutal guys on the roster. I’d just about bet my beloved horse, Lacey, that Team 3D will survive this vicious Hardcore Match and go into the Hall of Fame as winners.

Predicted Winners: Bully Ray and Devon, Team 3D
Predicted Grade: 3.5

Samoa Joe vs Low Ki vs Kaz Hayashi
Triple Threat Match for the X-Division Title

Predictions:

This one is going to steal the show, no doubt. I think TNA is trying to add some stability to the X-Division. For that reason, I do think Joe will retain.

Predicted Winner: Samoa Joe
Predicted Grade: 4.25

MVP vs. Kazma Sakamoto.

Predictions:
I really can’t stand MVP. I will, however, give him credit for being an outstanding performer. I do think Kazma will get to shine but MVP takes this one.

Predicted Winner: MVP
Predicted Grade: 3.0

Manik vs. Minoru Tanaka.
Predictions:

This one should be fast paced and hard hitting. Since TNA just can’t win every match, I think Manik will drop this one. Storm and Sanada will likely beat up Manik, post-match, as another “programming” method to convert Manik to their way of thinking.

Predicted Winner: Minoru Tanaka
Predicted Grade: 4.0

Velvet Sky vs. Havok
TNA Knockout Title Match

Predictions:

Velvet Sky is a very underrated wrestler. She has great flexibility and a solid move set in her arsenal. However, she is coming up against a female Juggernaut. Velvet will put up a valiant fight but there is just no way that she can take the Knockout title from Havok.

Predicted Winner: Havok
Predicted Grade: 2.0

Andy Wu & Hijo Del Pantera vs Kuroshio Ikemen Jiro & Yusuke Kodama

Predictions:

I feel bad about this one because I have only minimal knowledge of these competitors. This one is pretty much a coin flip. I think to expand the relationship between TNA, Japan and Mexico, the win is going to Andy Wu and Hijo de Pantera.

Predicted Winner: Andy Wu and Hijo de Pantera
Predicted Grade: 2.75

The Wrap Up:

Some of TNA’s bigger stars aren’t going to be on the card (The Wolves, Lashley, Mr. Anderson, etc…). I do think this card will be above average and entertaining to the fans. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this will bring much success to TNA.

Peace
