A member of the McMahon family will compete at SummerSlam, but which one? That and more pieces to the SummerSlam puzzle were put in place, this week.

The show opened with a look at the Stephanie McMahon vs Bellas issue, from last week. Stephanie slapped Brie Bella (who was a fan in the crowd) and got arrested.

Raw also looked at the return of Brock Lesnar and his placement into the main event against John Cena, at SummerSlam.

We are in the Lone Star State, this week. Houston is the home town of both Booker T and The Undertaker.

John Cena came out to address the WWE Universe. John got a very mixed reaction from the Texans. John acknowledged that the Houston crowd was enthusiastic. John wasn’t in a good mood, since hearing about “Plan C” aka Brock Lesnar. Cena knew he was a marked man, by the Authority. John called Brock a “Mercenary”. John felt the WW Universe might be wanting to see Brock beat the Hell out of him. “Yes!” rang out from the crowd. (Personally, I hope Cena beats Lesnar.) Cena talked about how dangerous Lesnar can be. Cena brought up the Broken Streak. Cena knew he would take the beating of a lifetime, at SummerSlam. Cena swore he would not lie down for Lesnar. He was determined to defeat The Beast, just like he did in 2012. Cena was certain no one could control Brock Lesnar.

Paul Heyman came out to counter John’s comments. He also got a mixed reaction from the crowd. Paul said Brock was ready to conquer John Cena and take the title from John. Paul didn’t think Cena understood just what he was about to face. Paul knew that Brock would turn John into a “Victim”. Paul, of course, had to bring up The Undertaker. Paul mentioned that no one has seen or heard from Undertaker since Wrestlemania. Paul explained that John was now on the defensive. Brock, on the other hand, was in offensive mode. Paul detailed how Brock was going to victimize John Cena. Paul really made it sound like John was going to be beaten to levels that he has never seen before.

John came back and wanted to get “real” with Paul. John brought up “E.C.W.” and the passion that those three letters used to bring to those involved. John claimed to have that same passion because he loves the WWE and wrestling. John knew Brock’s only passion was for himself. John said Brock had no heart. John swore he would walk in and out with the “son of a b*tch (the title)”.

Cesaro came out to speak with his former manager. He then told John not to insult his friend. Cesaro felt John was a “Big muscled up billboard”. John hopped out of the ring. Cesaro made fun of Cena’s sneakers and inability to wrestle. Cesaro challenged Cena to a wrestling match. Paul started to announce to the match but Cena cut him off. He told Cesaro to come to the ring.

John Cena vs Cesaro
Non-Title Match

The bell sounded and the two men circled each other. Knuckle Lock into a Battle of the Bulls. Cesaro got the early advantage but Cena came back to use a Side Headlock Takeover. Universal into a Cena Monkey Flip and another Side Headlock Takeover. Cesaro with a Takeover after a rope break. Push Off into another Universal. Cesaro caught John in a Tilt-a-Whirl Slam. Uppercut by Cesaro. Cesaro worked over the ribs of Cena. Cena with a Standing Hurancanrana. Cesaro with a Back Elbow to Cena’s nose.

Cesaro attacked John, on the apron. The two traded punches, over the ropes. Cesaro Shouldered Cena off the apron. Cena rushed back in the ring and started punching away on the Swiss Superman. Cesaro blocked the Running Bulldog. Cesaro punched away as Raw took a break.

Cesaro missed a Clothesline and John sent Vintage. Cesaro did counter the Proto-Bomb into a DDT. Cesaro mocked the You Can See Me hand sign. Cena countered the Cesaro Swing and eventually nailed a Powerbomb. Seeing Cena roll up Cesaro was so impressive. Cena went to the penthouse and waited. Cesaro hit the ropes and Cena landed, face first, on the top rope. Cesaro with a Superplex from the apron. Dang. 2 count. Cena with a Boot and tried for a Tornado DDT. Cesaro countered it into the infamous Cesaro Swing. Cesaro cinched in a Cloverleaf. Cena reversed the move and almost got the STF. Protobomb into the Five Knuckle Shuffle! Cesaro held the ropes to block the Attitude Adjustment. Cesaro went up the ropes and waited up top. Cena caught the flying Cesaro and lifted him up for the AA. Cesaro landed on his feet. Lift European Uppercut to get Cesaro a two count. Cesaro was so shocked that he didn’t get the three.

Cesaro wanted the Neutralizer but Cena with a Back Body Drop. Cesaro landed on his feet. Big Boot by Cena sent Cesaro to the apron. Cesaro went up top but got caught. Super-Attitude Adjustment!

Raw Ranking: 4.25 out of a possible 5

Stephanie and Triple H talked backstage. Stephanie said she could not bear the look in her kids’ eyes. HHH had a plan for his spouse to fix things. They were interrupted by the arrival of Randy Orton. He was not happy that Brock Lesnar got his spot against Cena. HHH said he would not pull Lesnar out of the match. HHH told Orton is he would have to get rid of Roman Reigns before he would get another title shot. Orton swore he would destroy Roman, tonight. Roman was set to face Kane. Randy felt he now had a problem with Kane, Roman…and Triple H. (Face turn? I think so.)

Paige skipped to the ring (mocking A.J. Lee). Raw looked back at how Paige attacked A.J., last week. Paige had the stick and wanted to set the record straight. She admitted that she let her emotions get the best of her. She still considered A.J. as her best friend. Paige admitted that she crossed the line, last week, when she attacked the woman who took her title.

A.J. then skipped down to join Paige, in the ring. She called Paige a “Casper-looking Crumpet”. A.J. wasn’t buying the apology. Lee understood why Paige was angry at her. Lee explained that she didn’t play “Little Girl Games”. Lee said she would tell people, to their face, when she had a problem. Paige swore she was Lee’s friend. She made the mistake of calling A.J. the “C” word—Crazy. Lee went to her darkest place at the mention of the word. Paige kept digging the hole deeper when she brought up mental health. Lee seemed to be cool with it but suddenly exploded on Paige and threw her to the floor. She ran Paige into the barrier and then chased after her. A huge C.M. Punk chant got going. (By the way, C.M. Punk showed off his wedding ring at a recent celebrity event…the video was on the MSN site a few days back).

Hmmm…Here’s an idea for SummerSlam. Paige vs A.J., for the Divas title, in a Straight Jacket Match! Yeah, that would work.

Triple H and Stephanie walked out together. This Hour Turner segment should be interesting. The announcers bickered about Stephanie’s arrest and then sent it back to the video footage. The fans broke out with a “Jailbird” chant. HHH talked about the moments that he has shared with the fans. Last week, he was angry and disgusted at the fans for what happened. He did not appreciate when the fans all laughed at his wife. HHH really lost his cool about how the fans treated the mother of his children. HHH wondered if the fans knew how much they hurt Stephanie. HHH said this was all about a simple misunderstanding. Stephanie was just defending herself against the verbal berating by Brie Bella. HHH said all the charges were dropped, except the Assault and Battery Charges filed by Brie. HHH explained that Stephanie asked Brie to come to the show so this could all get resolved.

Stephanie took the microphone but the crowd chants kept her from being able to speak. Finally, Stephanie asked Brie to please come to the ring. Instead, they got Chris Jericho!

Jericho stood on the ramp and smiled at The Authority. HHH screamed at Jericho for interrupting them. Jericho had a song to share. He started to sing “Bad Boys” (the theme from Cops). The fans got into it as well. Jericho said the fans sounded great. HHH really got ticked off at the joking about his wife. Jericho did think it was all fun. Jericho told Steph “Orange is the new Black”. Jericho talked about re-watching the incident, over and over, on the WWE Network. Jericho made fun of HHH’s big nose. Jericho wanted to know why HHH delayed leaving the arena, last week. Jericho felt HHH was starting to realize that Stephanie was a…

HHH cut him off, big time. HHH suggested that Jericho should focus on Bray Wyatt, not them. Jericho wanted to fight Bray, right now. HHH decided to have them fight…at SummerSlam. Tonight, Jericho would face Seth Rollins. Just before HHH said it, Seth clocked Jericho with the Money in the Bank Briefcase!

Zeb got a bit long-winded in his Americana speech. Zeb received a monster pop for mentioning beer. That kick-started a huge “U.S.A.” chant. Zeb brought out a deafening “We the People” chant from the fans.

Swagger rushed down to the ring and began to beat on Rusev. Rusev started to fight back. The two ended up getting in the ring. Rusev stalked Jack. Second, Brie wanted her job back. Stephanie didn’t like the idea but when Brie started to leave and continue the legal actions, Stephanie gave in.
