THE MAIN EVENT
PSYCHOTIC WARRIOR JOHNNY PHERE vs MR BIG SHAUN VASEY
No two individuals made more noise in British Wrestling in 2013 than the PAID Promotions owner and heavyweight champion JOHNNY PHERE and his obnoxious manager GREG ‘THE TRUTH’ LAMBERT. Telling anyone who would listen that Phere was the Best in Europe, the self-styled#PhereTheTruth went on a rampage of violence, bragging and spreading their twisted message through national and regional media, while quite literally branding anyone who disagreed with them as a ‘Liar’. DDL, Bubblegum, Ricky J McKenzie, even Santa Claus fell victim to the Phere brand.
So did the number one contender and the biggest thorn in PhereTheTruth’s side, THE HEAVYWEIGHT HOUSE OF PAIN STIXX. Undefeated in an incredible SIX YEARS in Morecambe during the XWA and PAID Promotions era, Stixx was last year twice put in hospital by the maniacal Phere who stopped at nothing in his attempts to end the popular Nottingham man’s career. But recovering from injuries that would have finished a lesser man, Stixx somehow fought back and at Fightmare Before Christmas he scored the winning pinfall against Team Phere in a six-man elimination match. His prize was getting to choose the stipulation for the night when he finally gets the chance to meet The Psychotic Warrior one on one for the title and perhaps end his reign of terror.
So on Saturday February 16 at The Globe Arena in Morecambe, it will be Johnny Phere vs Stixx for the PAID Promotions Championship in a Chains Match. Stixx has vowed to finally turn all his wins into championship gold. Phere has vowed to end Stixx’s championship dream and with it, terminate The Stixx Streak.
Perhaps realising that the seemingly unbeatable Stixx poses the most dangerous threat to his championship, The Psychotic Warrior has opted to engage in a warm-up match like no other on Saturday, January 11. That night, Phere will face the 6ft6in young giant from Barrow-in-Furness, ‘MR BIG’ SHAUN VASEY under the same Chains Match rules. Like Stixx, Vasey is big, powerful and popular. Phere and Lambert have vowed to use Vasey as a guinea pig to test out their strategy for Stixx. But Vasey has other ideas. While the title won’t be on the line, ‘Mr Big’ is hungry to make a name for himself at the champion’s expense and out for revenge after what happened at the recent PAID Promotions Christmas Party…
Also on the show, three of the very best to come out of the Morecambe wrestling training school battle three of British Wrestling’s most talented stars.DANGEROUS DAMON LEIGH vs CRAIG KOLLINS
Craig Kollins is a UK breakout star waiting to happen. With wins over Sam Bailey, Jack Gallagher and Ricky J McKenzie, not to mention countless good to great matches under his belt already in his two-year career, ‘The One Man Riot’ has already caught the eye of PCW and other top British Wrestling promotions, and will have another chance to impress against the canny North West favourite DDL. BUBBLEGUM vs RYAN GRAYSON (with SERENITY)
Ryan Grayson is proud of his Scottish roots but believes this makes him superior to everybody else. With the beautiful but deadly Serenity at his side, ‘The Edinburgh Elite’ is slowly becoming a force to be reckoned with just 12 months into his pro career. Getting better with every performance, Grayson will have his biggest test to date against one of the UK’s very best in Bubblegum. JOEY HAYES vs JAMES DRAKE
While James Drake is today better known for his work with FutureShock and GPW, the Blackpool Blond was one of the star graduates of the Morecambe wrestling school in 2010 and first made his name in the XWA where he and partner Axl Rage feuded with Declan O’Connor and his partner…Joey Hayes. Now Drake and Hayes will resume hostilities as both make their debut for PAID Promotions.
JON AGGRO vs LONER ROSSION
Fleetwood’s own local hero Aggro and the weird and demented Loner have had numerous confrontations over the past few months. Finally onJanuary 11, they meet one on one!
The show is hosted by the gregarious and flamboyant STALLION and refereed by one of the top new officials in British Wrestling CHARLES NELSON RILEY.
