The Heyman Guys (C.M. Punk and Curtis Axel) were set to battle the Prime Time Players. Plus, it was a tribute to the top champions night. Lots of flashbacks to former champs as well as a Champion vs Champion match where John Cena battled Alberto Del Rio.
Vickie Guerrero opened the show, looking quite cute. Vickie explained that both top titles would be honored, tonight. Vickie thanked the McMahons for allowing her to make the Champion vs Champion match.
Roll the opening credits.
Daniel Bryan came out and got a huge pop. He is wearing his new “Respect the Beard” shirt. There was a ladder in the middle of the ring. The announcers introduced themselves and started talking about Money in the Bank. Daniel took the microphone and soaked in the love of his fans. Daniel said the Weak Link question was finally answered, last week, when Daniel made Randy Orton tap out. The answer was “NO!”. Daniel said he was ready to ride the wave of success into the Money in the Bank All-Stars match and claim the briefcase. Daniel said he wanted to follow in the footsteps of men like Bruno, Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, The Rock… Daniel reminded everyone that he won Money in the Bank, two years ago, and successfully cashed in. Daniel was determined to be WWE Champion.
He was cut off by the arrival of Sheamus. Sheamus decided to share how he beat Daniel, at Wrestlemania, in 18 seconds. Sheamus felt it had been too long since he has held a championship. Daniel wanted to call 1 800 Fella and have Sheamus Brogue Kick himself. Sheamus called Daniel “a troll”.
Randy Orton then walked from the back. Orton said he hasn’t been a champion for close to two years. Orton said he was a “Starving Man” and he needed the WWE Title. Orton said he would cash it in at the first opportunity. Daniel taunted Randy about last week’s Tap Out. “You Tapped Out!” rose from the masses. Randy threatened to drop Daniel where he stood.
Add Kane to the discussion group. Kane agreed with Orton that no one was safe. Kane talked about how ruthless he has been, in the past. Kane said he would even take out his “friends” if needed. Kane said there would be no partners, no friends, only victims. Daniel and Kane got into an “I’m going to be champion” argument.

Punk talked directly at RVD about his plans. Daniel ended up cutting off Punk and threatened to have Punk tap out faster than Orton. That led to Orton going after Daniel. Kane stepped in and got RKO’d. The guys started bailing out of the ring, one by one.
Michael Cole sent it to the first series of video profiles. WWE Champion: Buddy Rogers. World Champion: Lou Thesz. I was recently given the title of Wrestling Historian for a film that I am working on. I was honored to get that distinction. Honestly, Thesz was probably the greatest technical wrestler of all time.
It was time for another visit from the Addams…err Wyatt Family. Bray is the leader of the group. It looks like there are three members of the family but hard to tell, tho.
The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns) vs Christian, Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso
Six Man Tag Team Match
I’m wondering if we might be seeing the creation of the Six Man titles in the near future? The Shield, 3MB, the Wyatt Family, maybe more? I’m just thinking out loud…The USOs will face Rollins and Reigns for the tag belts at Money in the Bank.

After the match, the entire 3MB group decided to attack. Dolph ended up ducking and dodging the musical group and taking them apart, one by one.
The History of the WWE and World Titles next looked at: Bruno Sammartino (WWE) and Harley Race (World). I had the pleasure of seeing Race work at the old Sportatorium, in Dallas, many years ago. While he wasn’t as flashy as say a Ric Flair or Superstar Billy Graham, Race was as solid a wrestler as anyone that I’ve seen.
Brad and Vickie chatted in the office. Brad didn’t know why Vickie is stressing out. Triple H strolled in and was ready to hear the negative comments about the McMahon Family. HHH said Vickie made great choices with her line up of matches. Vickie explained that all the McMahons were pulling her in different directions. HHH told Vickie to ignore the others and only listen to him.

C.M. Punk, Curtis Axel and Paul Heyman were having a heated discussion, in the locker room. Punk said he trusted Paul but not Axel. Paul tried to play peacemaker. Paul said Axel was worthy of Punk’s trust. Punk and Axel will battle the Prime Time Players in a few minutes.
The next WWE/World Champion profiles were: Bob Backlund (WWE) and Dusty Rhodes (World). IF you really watch the Backlund title win match, he should never have won the belt. His opponent’s foot was clearly on the ropes.
A profile of the new Divas show ran. Even the commercial bores me. Sorry but it’s true.
Fandango and Summer Rae made their return to WWE action. The crowd started singing along with the cheesy music. Fandango will be in the World Title Money in the Bank match.

Mark Henry’s music went off and out came The World’s Strongest Man. He has a new t-shit. I kind of like it. Would love to get a few for some of my buddies that are into weight-lifting.
Mark said he was a strong kid and he began breaking records, early on. Mark said he never lost the title of World’s Strongest Man over the last 17 years. Mark accused the WWE of being filled with jealousy, politics and back-stabbing. Mark felt some of the injuries weren’t accidents. Mark complained about all the time he spent away from home and all the years he had to pretend to “Like the Boys”. Mark said playing nice got him nowhere. Mark was certain that he deserved to be the WWE Champion. Mark was sure he had earned the right to be champion. Mark said no one would keep him down, anymore. Mark was going to do the right thing…for himself. No one would be able to deny that Mark deserved the WWE title. Mark wanted something to sink in…”John Cena, at Money in the Bank, I’m Going to Beat Your *ss”. Mark then walked off.
Vickie and Brad discussed Mark. Vince McMahon came up and slid his arm around Vickie’s shoulder. Vince reminded Vickie what he said about Daniel Bryan. Vince brought up the subject of people that wee thrown out or fired from the WWE, because they wouldn’t listen to Vince.
C.M. Punk and Curtis Axel vs Darren Young and Titus O’Neil (The Prime Time Players)
Punk brought back a classic t-shirt for this encounter. It was the fist clutching a lightning bolt. Raw looked back at the attack by the Prime Time Players, last week. Axel came down to save Punk, which irritated Punk. Punk and Axel made their own entrances. Interesting that Heyman came out with Axel, not Punk.

Time to look at some former great champs: “Stone Cold” Steve Austin (WWE) and Sting (World). How bizarre to see them pay tribute to a guy that never ONCE stepped foot into a WWE ring. Even the final episode of WCW saw Sting inside a WCW Ring (even though the ring was owned by WWF/E).
A profile for The Call ran. It’s out on DVD and Blu-Ray. Not on the top of my list, to be honest.
Alicia Fox vs Kaitlyn (w/Layla)

Your Winner: Kaitlyn
Raw Ranking: .5
A.J. Lee came out with Big E Langston. Lee taunted Kaitlyn by showing a doctored photo of Kaitlyn in a “fat suit”. That was so offensive. Kaitlyn has curves, while A.J. just has angles. I hate skinny chicks.
Vickie and Brad were talking business when Stephanie McMahon came up. She gave Vickie Hell for not watching the show. Stephanie said to Vickie that she (Vickie) should be doing her job. Sandow was going to be at ringside for this match. Michael Cole ran down the men involved in the World Money in the Bank match. Cesaro came out with Zeb Colter. He spewed his vile rant about immigration, gay marriage and other assorted topics. Shut the Hell Up and Wrestle…Will Ya? Zeb brought out the returning Jack Swagger. Oh, Joy. Damien was visibly upset that Cody lost. I smell an upcoming feud.
Time for another tribute to former champions video package: Triple H (WWE) and Booker T (World). I remember seeing Booker T and Stevie Ray during their first year in wrestling, back home in Dallas. Very nice gentleman that I got to meet as part of a large group. No way would either of them remember me but I definitely remember what professionals they were.
The Bellas talked with a couple of new Diva Prospects. The Funakdactyls and Natalya walked up and it got quite catty. The Bellas said they were carrying the Diva division. Nattie thought the twins were just into self-promotion. Yawn.
Speaking of female wrestling, I’ve gotten several e-mails about the passing of Lynn Braxton aka Big Bad Mama from GLOW. I’ve seen mention of it on another wrestling website but I have yet to be able to confirm it through any of my normal main stream news/entertainment sources. I mean no disrespect to that other site but I don’t want to state that she has passed until I can 100% confirm it.
On a much happier note, since this recap will post on July 2nd, I want to send a special Happy Birthday out to Bret Hart. Bret shared his birthday with my late step-father, James. Bret turns 56 on 7/2. And speaking of the Hart Family, Best Wishes go out to Nattie Neidhart (Natalya) and T.J. Wilson (Tyson Kidd). The couple were recently married after a lengthy and loving relationship that extended close to a decade. I hope for them a long and happy life together filled with memories and a growing family.
Michael Cole mentioned that the Wyatt Family will make their debut, next week. That led to another bizarre Wyatt Family video.

Mark Henry picked up the WWE title and got in the ring. Mark threatened to clock Cena with the belt but just dropped it for Cena to retrieve. Mark played mind games as Cena went for the belt. Mark then just left the ring as Cena continued to consider whether he should get the belt. He did pick it up as Mark walked down the ring steps and headed for the back. JBL thought he saw fear in Cena’s eyes.
To end the show, the announcers talked about the Wyatt Family and sent it to a final video of the oddball group. It ended abruptly.
