“Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner Wins Dutch Wrestling Gold:
Last Sunday – June 2nd – former WCW World Heavyweight Champion “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner defeated defending Champion Santos to win the Dutch Heavyweight Championship in front of a sold out crowd during the 2013 edition of Dutch Pro Wrestling’s Grand Slam event. 757 Fans from Holland and neighboring countries like Belgium, Germany and France gathered at the DPW Arena in Poeldijk, near The Hague, to watch history being made as Scott Steiner became the sixth Dutch Heavyweight Champion in the history of Dutch Pro Wrestling.
The event also saw the Dutch wrestling debut of former WWE Intercontinental Champions Carlito and Shelton Benjamin and the return of crowd favorite “The Masterpiece” Chris Masters. Shelton Benjamin defeated Dutch WWE prospect Emil Sitoci, while Chris Masters defeated Holland’s most hated wrestler Mark Kodiak. Former Dutch Heavyweight Champion Max Damon defeated Carlito.
In other results Kenzo Richards defeated UK Powerhouse Johnny Moss and Belgium wrestling legend Bernard Vandamme teamed up with local fan favorite the Trouble Maker to defeat German Eric Schwarz and the demonic Cybernic Machine.
In recent years Dutch Pro Wrestling organized successful events featuring the likes of Kevin Nash, Rhyno, Al Snow, Rob Van Dam, Billy Gunn, Chavo Guerrero, Tommy Dreamer, Tajiri and Bully Ray in front of record breaking crowds and setting a new example for Dutch Wrestling.
On November 17 Japanese wrestling legend Jushin “Thunder” Liger will make his Dutch wrestling debut at an event dubbed Japanese Conflict where he will face The Untamable Emil Sitoci in the main event. Tickets for Japanese Conflict will go on sale on Monday, June 17 and start at just 15 euro and there will also be a FanFest before show with a Q&A, photo and autograph opp feat. Jushin Liger
