Over the last couple of years WrestleReunion has been to wrestling fans what Comic-Con International has been to comic and pop culture enthusiasts.
The founder of this convention is Boynton Beach resident Sal Corrente, who began his career in the wrestling business in 1981.
His first job was guarding the backdoor for the then WWF at the Allentown, PA television tapings. He used to let the wrestlers in and out. At the end of the night he would walk Vince McMahon to his car.
From there he became friends with the likes of the Wild Samoans and Rocky Johnson, where he would see his son The Rock running around as a kid. He became a referee. He built a reputation with a variety of roles throughout the industry. His friendship with Nikita Koloff opened doors for Corrente in Charlotte. Dusty Rhodes and J.J. Dillon also gave him breaks by putting in high profile positions.
