NWA ANARCHY 3-26 RESULTS

NWA Anarchy ran their final television taping prior to Hardcore Hell 2010 Saturday night at the NWA Arena in Cornelia, Ga.

It was very good taping particularly given the less than ideal circumstances. There were a lot of pieces to put in place for the big show, and that task was complicated by numerous last minute changes due to cancelations by talent. Tank, Kimo, Jay Fury, AJ Steele and Sugar Dunkerton were among those missing from the advertised lineup.

Success didn’t hinge on having great matches, although the first hour main event, a Hate Junkies/Youth Gone Wild tag title match was stellar. The inring fireworks were rightfully saved for Hardcore Hell.

The key was the talking segments. There was a whole lot of talking, and it all worked. On that level, it was the best Anarchy show in quite a long time.

Attendance was 115. It’s hardly varied at all for the recent tapings. What continues to ramp up, however, is the energy level in the crowd.

It was the last taping of the Jerry Palmer era. Palmer will make the official announcement regarding the transfer of Anarchy ownership at Hardcore Hell on April 9.

Palmer made some opening remarks (see news & notes post to follow). Palmer said the one thing people could do for him was fill the building to capacity for Hardcore Hell.

(1) Armed & Dangerous (Lane Vasser & Johnny Dangerous) beat Chaos & Tommy Daniels in 7:36. A & D got one near fall after another on Daniels, until the tall (around 6-7) evil monster Chaos took over. A keen observer noted his Russian type features. I don’t know his ethnic background, but one thing for sure; he’s a giant klutz in the ring. Vasser cleaned house. It was the pits. There was a ridiculously mistimed double dropkick, plus Daniels and Chaos can’t sell to save their lives. Dangerous pinned Daniels with a picture perfect 450, a real match saver.

(2) Nemesis (with Jeff G. Bailey) beat CB Gibson in 3:35. I like this Gibson kid – quick, athletic, sells well, just not much size. Nemesis brought the thuggery. He was pounded the crap out of Gibson with stiff back chops and relishing every moment. Nemesis won it with a powerbomb, which would have been more impressive had Chaos not used one in the previous match.

Nemesis continued the abuse until Shadow Jackson made the save, and do those two have a history. Gibson received a nice round of applause for his efforts.

Rave Approved (Jimmy Rave & “Mr. Wrestlemania” Mike Posey & Corey Hollis & Chip Day) and Jeremy Vain appeared on the WrestleVision screen. Rave said they would be at Hardcore Hell to take on the Cornelia “misfits”. They threw out names from back in the day like Mark for Michaels, Stone Mountain, Bob Sapp and White Trash.

In the ring, Adrian Hawkins said he would have a team of Anarchy greats to take on Rave’s bunch. “On April 9, it will be Anarchy Approved.”

(3) Shaun Tempers (with Bo Newsom) defeated Adrian Hawkins to retain the NWA Anarchy TV Title in 9:59. Tempers now hails from Chicago. He saturated his body with Temptation spray before the match. Hawkins won Melanie’s award for tan of the night. Early on, Newsom tripped Hawkins. That brought Brodie Chase to ringside, and did that ever pick up the crowd. Super heat the rest of the way. Bo interfered again. Chase was boiling. Hawkins hit his springboard back elbow and nipped up to start his comeback. Bo went to interfere and this time, Chase nailed him. Hawkins caught Tempers with an inside cradle, and the crowd bought it like he had the match won. Tempers went for a pin with his feet on the ropes. Chase knocked them off. Tempers blocked Hawkins finisher (the Unprettier) and in the process, Bo kicked Hawkins in the head. Tempers then hit the hangman neckbreaker for the three count.

Postmatch, Chase pummeled Newsom. The crowd popped huge when Timmy D announced Tempers vs. Chase for the TV Title at Hardcore Hell. As well they should have. It was the kind of set up that makes people want to see the match.

Todd Sexton and Seth Delay did mic work to set up a match at Hardcore Hell. They were in the zone. Sexton came out first. He poked fun at the apathetic response he got for his return matches in January. He took credit for saving Cornelia wrestling from an endless stream of Al Getz promos and Rick Michaels as 10 time champion, referring to it as “NWA Malarky”. Sexton was offended that Palmer wasn’t including him in the last ride. That brought Delay out. He asked Sexton what it felt like to be on the wrong side of the office. Delay said that if anyone deserved a TV title shot it was King Seth, the sexiest man alive. “I went to Egypt and came back a pharaoh.”

Delay called Sexton a no charisma has been. Some hilarious adlibs ensued involved Jim Neidhart and the Hart Foundation. The match was made. They simultaneously tried to sneak attack the other guy, Delay with the knucks and Sexton with the superkick. Delay did his swivel hips “sexy party” dance while staring at Bill Behrens. An absolutely tremendous segment. It was thoroughly entertaining in its own right and that much better if you got the inside references.

(4) Hate Junkies (with Reverend Dan Wilson) beat Youth Gone Wild (Anthony Henry & Dustin Knight) to retain the NWA Anarchy Tag Team Championship in 11:26. These teams have worked each other a ton of times at APW, and it really shows. A very smooth match all the way around. YWG isolated Stryknyn and busted out some crisp combo moves. The sliding leg sweep/slingshot splash combo is a keeper. Junkies pulled off a cool move of their own – Only made a blind tag and Stryknyn hit a flapjack on Knight. The Rev cackled with delight as his Junkies did filthy things to Knight. At one point, Strykyn rubbed his armpit in Knight’s face. It was wonderfully disgusting. After Knight’s jumping neckbreaker, the hot tag was made. YWG took Stryknyn out with the GTS. They went for a double top rope splash on Only. Knight hit his, but the Rev dumped Henry. Only then pinned Henry with the Omori Driver. Best match of the night by a wide margin.

Afterward, Only speared the defenseless Henry. Stryk was about to Superbomb Knight into oblivion when the former champions, Billy Buck and Andrew Alexander came to his rescue.

Hour number two opened with a WrestleVision vignette. Announcer/manager John Johnson (with Aden Chambers & Jacoby Boykins) approached Enoch Tsarion and Skirra Corvus. Johnson wanted reassurance about the status of their alliance. None was forthcoming. Pandora (under a mask) appeared alongside Tsarion. Johnson was freaked out by this. The camera tracked to

Tempers and Newsom. Andrew Pendleton approached them with a proposition. It seems his partner, Mike Mosley, was at a weight reduction program doing colonics or some such because some guy said he was fat, so he wanted Bo to be his partner. Tempers and Newsom just looked at him. Tempers’ facial expressions were awesome here. Pendleton produced an envelope filled with cash. He tried to hand it to Bo. Tempers grabbed it. They had a deal.

The Reverend came to the ring with Azrael. Hearing the Devil’s Rejects theme music brings back fond memories of senseless violence. The Rev said that upon his return, “The Angel of Death” did a serious number on Slim J. Now, the Rev wanted to put the hardcore into Hardcore Hell, but Palmer was yet to meet his terms. He called Palmer out to complete their negotiations. Palmer said Rev was asking for something better suited to Iceberg, Tank or New Jack. Nevertheless, with J’s consent, he was going to approve it – The Final Cut: Barbed Wire Massacre – the ring would be filled with weapons wrapped in barbed wire. The Rev wanted to know where J was at. The light went out. When they came back on, J was in the ring wielding a barbed wire baseball bat. Azrael and The Rev bailed. At first, the crowd was too stunned to pop. J made Palmer stay in the ring while he did the do rag gimmick. As usual, the people went nuts for it.

Timmy D announced a five way for the Young Lion’s Championship at Hardcore Hell – Chambers vs. Boykins vs. Corvus vs. Newsom vs. Ashworth. Fans made it clear they’re pulling for Ashworth.

(5) Jacob Ashworth & Skirra Corvus (with Enoch Tsarion) beat NWA Anarchy Young Lion’s Champion Aden Chambers & Jacoby Boykins in 8:19. Johnson was agape when Corvus came out to tag with Ashworth. The parejas increible demonstrated surprisingly good teamwork in the early going. Ashworth showed great fire. I always hate it when the babyface is the first one to use a close fist, though. The heels got heat on Corvus. Pandora joined Tsarion at ringside. With that, Johnson left the announcer’s booth to second Chambers and Boykins. After the hot tag, Ashworth blasted Boykins with a lariat that sent him over the top rope. It looked like Boykins landed on his head. Fortunately not. Things got a little screwy here, which was understandable since Boykins was still in a fog. Johnson interfered on behalf of his guys. Corvus and Boykins went over the top together. It was a little safer than the first one. Ashworth pinned Chambers with a wheelbarrow full nelson facebuster. The match was OK enough, and the story overrode the minor problems.

The Rev (with the Hate Junkies) appeared on the WrestleVision with Patrick Bentley. Rev wanted to welcome Bentley back to his army. Bentley said this soldier doesn’t take orders and the Rev manipulated him. This was a play off a real life story involving Bentley that I won’t get into. Bentley said he doesn’t associate with trash. The Junkies bristled. Rev said he never held a gun to Bentley’s head, but he would let Bentley live as repayment for all the things he had done for the Rejects. The Rev did a masterful job in this segment.

(6) Andrew Pendleton III & Bo Newsom vs. Andrew Alexander & Billy Buck was declared a no contest at 9:19. Alexander and Buck came out wrestling. Pendleton and Newsom trapped Buck in their corner. The crowd got behind Buck. They always do. Alexander ran wild. He was about to end it with a piledriver on Newsom when Hate Junkies appeared at ringside. Alexander started brawling with them. Referee Dee Byers was left with no choice other than to throw the match out.

Junkies were getting the best of it. YWG ran out to make the save. A four way elimination match to determine the number one contender for the tag titles was announced for Hardcore Hell – YWG vs. Alexander & Buck vs. Pendleton & Mosley vs. Armed & Dangerous.

Bailey led Seven to the ring for his shot at the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Title. Nobody nurtures and cherish a budding monster like Bailey. He said Seven had destroyed all the top competition, and now that he finally had his shot at the one prize that had eluded him, his chance to show all the closet Klansmen the supremacy of the black athlete, Tank was nowhere to be found. Bailey called Palmer out. Bailey said he could accept Palmer’s personal vendetta against him, but Seven was the greatest to ever set foot in an Anarchy ring. “I’m tired of THE MAN trying to keep THE MAN down.” Bailey said Tank’s no show equaled violation of the 30 day clause.

Leading to…

(7) Tank forfeited the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Title to Seven (with Bailey) due to failure to defend within 30 days. Bailey called for a ref to make a 10 count. Ian Buchanan obliged. Bailey grabbed the belt and jumped into Seven’s arms. It was hilarious. Bailey was so excited that he accidentally busted Seven’s head open the hardway with the belt. Palmer said his six year chess match with Bailey was coming to an end, and he wanted to see a real champion before he left. Therefore, he was making a title match inside a steel cage for Hardcore Hell and introduced Seven’s opponent as “The People’s Champion” Shadow Jackson. The show ended with crowd chanting “Shadowmania.”

The lack of a match was obviously a letdown. The quality of the mic work and the announcement of the cage match went a long way towards limiting the damage, and I think there’s a silver lining in terms of building anticipation for the grand finale on April 9.

This week’s episode features the biggest Main Event in the 7 year history of our Television program as “The Party Boy” Keith Knox puts his career on the line to get 1 last shot at Chris Richards’ NWA Smoky Mountain Heavyweight Title… This is Richards’ last match before he takes on NWA Smoky Mountain Commissioner Robbie Cassidy this Friday in Kingsport, TN. No doubt that Cassidy will be watching this match very intently.

Plus, former NWA Smoky Mountain Tag Team Champions, Beau James and Tony Givens will take on current champions, The Diamonds in the Rough (Sigmon & David Young) in a non-title match. Both Beau’s wife: SSW Ladies Champion, Misty James and The Diamonds’ valet, Ashlee Hope will be at ringside. Given the recent issues between these 2 women, there is sure to be fireworks!

Also, NWA Legend Ricky Morton takes on Bryan Kyle; “The Real Deal” Chase Owens takes on Derik Billings; and we will get all the up to date info on the NWA Smoky Mountain Cup Tournament!
