From Across The Pond

Welcome to the third installment of Across The Pond here on The first two weeks contained exclusive interviews with two of the rising stars in British Wrestling – Marty Scurll and Danny Garnell. More interviews will come, but for this week, I thought I’d fill you in on some of the news flying around the UK Wrestling scene this week.

- 1PW have done it again. The Doncaster based promotion, who have already introduced the likes of Ric Flair, Rob Van Dam and Bret Hart British wrestling fans have captured arguably their biggest coup ever – Shawn Michaels.

“The Showstopper” hasn’t wrestled since his epic encounter with The Undertaker at WrestleMania XVI in which he lost and was forced to retire so this will be a great opportunity for UK fans to see HBK once again.

“The Heartbreak Kid” will be coming over this October and will be involved in a Q&A session, one that will be very busy indeed. They had already announced that Diamond Dallas Page, Sean “X-Pac” Waltman, Brian “Road Dogg” James, Monty “Billy Gunn” Sopp and Kevin Nash would be appearing for the promotion some time in 2011. 1PW has a reputation for bringing lots of good American talents across the pond but this new announcement is sure to send the UK wrestling fans crazy.

- Another bit of news about some overseas talent coming to the UK. Pro Wrestling NOAH will be putting on two dates in the UK this May. They will be appearing at the Broxbourne Civic Hall on Friday 13th and then the Wolverhampton Civic Hall on Saturday 14th. The latter date will also be the venue for the meet and greet.

Five names have been confirmed for the dates so far. They are: Ricky Marvin, Katsuhiko Nakajima, KENTA, Takahashi Sugiura and Chris Hero. It looks a good list of guys so far and it’ll be interesting to see what sort of match-ups they put on.

- Getting back to British wrestlers now and IPW:UK will be putting on a great show on March 6th in Sittingbourne, Kent. The show will feature Marty Scurll, who was interviewed here exclusively on Across The Pond who will be in two matches. He will team up with his tag-team partner Zack Sabre Jr to take on up-and-coming Ring of Honor tag-team Adam Cole & Alex O’Reilly for the Undisputed British Tag Team Championship.

He will then be in singles action to take on ROH legend El Generico. Scurll and partner Sabre Jr. (The Leaders) took on and beat El Generico and Paul London at the last show. Scurll is considering this the biggest match of his career and Generico is on a roll after finally ending his long and bitter feud with former friend Kevin Steen in ROH.

Other matches on the card will see Sha Samuels take on Terry Frazier in an “I Quit” match and a Tag Team dream match featuring The All Stars (Whiplash & Dynamite) vs. Joel Redman and a man that has just toured Europe with TNA – Mark Haskins.
That’s all for now, I’m working hard on getting another interview so hopefully you’ll see one here next week! Until then, take care!
