NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood Report for January 7: Scorpio Sky vs. Austin Aries

——————————————————————————–

by Jay Cal

The first glimpse into this weeks’ NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood is a cackling, cocky, “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce stepping through the back stage curtain and walking towards the ring. His theme music echoing through the Regent Showcase Theater in Hollywood, California. Much to the chagrin of the fans seated ringside, The Worlds Champion of the NWA joins Jeff Resnick in the ring. Before Resnick can even mention a word, Pearce shuts him down. Pearce is quick to give Resnick a lesson on how to interview a wrestler, step one is to make sure the microphone is near the interviewee’s mouth. Pearce asks the production crew to reshow the Piledriver from last week that took Colt “Boom-Boom” Cabana in the infirmary. The footage show both men in a heap of carnage on top of what’s left of the table that was decimated and Pearce’s finishing touches on the next of Cabana. Pearce is quick to remind the fans at home and in the studio, that the blame of Cabana’s injuries lay firmly in the hands of those who voted for the No Rules Stipulation from last week. And that even though the match was stopped, it isn’t over. Pearce gave Colt one week to heal up and recover and Pearce says the match continues right now. The Referee comes out and Pearce instructs him to start the match. Resnick doesn’t even bother exiting the ring. The referee conducts the 10 count, as Pearce heckles the ringside crowd. The referee makes sure to raise Adam Pearce’s hand to show his victory. Pearce asks the boys in the back who is looking for a fight, because he is a fighting champion.

Back from commercial and we see one of the prized students from Lance Storm’s Wrestling Academy, Nick Madrid. Nick Madrid’s first full year of wrestling came in 2010 and 2011 will be a big year for him. Madrid with a look of moxie and determination makes his way ringside all wide eyed. I don’t think Pearce was expecting this. Pearce takes a spot in the corner and allows Madrid to safely enter the ring and even allows him to pander to the crowd. The crowd definitely takes a liking to Madrid. Pearce doesn’t know who Madrid is, but gives him credit for being brave enough to face Pearce. The Worlds Champion gives Nick Madrid a match, but the title won’t be on the line.

Madrid attempts a collar elbow tie up with Pearce, but Madrid must not have scouted Pearce before hand, because Pearce laid a boot right into the midsection of Madrid and a blow to the back, puts the youngster on his knees and a severe disadvantage. Pearce plants a left elbow right on the the forehead of Madrid. Pearce then forces Madrid into corner. Pearce begins to chop away at Madrid, before jaw-jacking with the crowd. “Scrap Iron” begins laying closed fists into the mid-section and face of Madrid. The youngster, then gets his forehead bitten by Pearce. The Worlds Champion continues to stalk his prey with rights and lefts and this match has turned into more of a fight than a wrestling match and Madrid isn’t looking so good. Pearce whips Madrid into the corner and leaps at the youngster with a Avalanche Splash, only for Madrid to find his bearings and gets the hell out of dodge. A stunned Pearce is met with a slew of forearm shots from the under dog. Madrid sends Pearce to the ropes, and the youngster eats a vicious lariat courtesy of the NWA Worlds Champion. What little momentum Madrid was mounting seems to have come to a halt, Pearce drags the groggy Madrid back to his feet and pokes him right in the eye, old school! Pearce whips him to the ropes and spine buster, the referee counts the 1… 2… and Pearce pulls the youngster up. Madrid is being made an example. Pearce having trouble pulling Madrid to his feet, the kid seems out of it. Pearce signaling for a suplex, and in a stunning turn of events, Nick Madrid reverse the suplex into a roll up and gets the three count. One of the biggest upsets in NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood History, the Kid Madrid gets the victory over the three-time NWA Worlds Champion, Adam Pearce. Madrid is quick to leave the ring, even he looks stunned. Madrid is quick to make his way to the back. Pearce is beside himself in the ring. The fans taunt the champion with a “1-2-3″ chant. Pearce reminds the ring side announcer that he is still the Worlds Heavyweight Champion.

Next up is Stu Stone in the back stage area with “Hollywood’s Own” Joey Ryan. Ever the consummate fashionista, Ryan is decked out with over-sized sunglasses and his trade mark blue scarf. Stu Stone wants you all to come out to the Television Taping, that take place the following day. Joey reminds everyone that he used to be running buddies with Adam Pearce and that he will win the NWA Worlds Title from Pearce. Joey also plugs the Wrestling Reunion event taking place at the LAX Hilton on January 27th.

Coming back from break is a video montage of “the Skull Krusher” Rasche Brown. Various shots through out the history of Brown’s tenure in NWA Hollywood are shown as choke slam after choke slam reveal the path of chaos left by the man who brings Pain! The video then cuts to the Tribe taking advantage of Brown 2 on 1, when Brown faced off against the Hawaiian Lion. The Tribe is shown tossing out referees as they dismantle the biggest man in the NWA. Lion holds Brown, Navajo Warrior holds the tomahawk only for Brown to be saved by Slymm. The scene cuts to Navajo Warrior punishing Nick Madrid with a spear into a corner followed up with a leg lift into the corner. Next scene is Ray Rosas being mauled by Slymm with a giant body bash. Next up Hawaiian Lion is seen striking Rasche Brown and then connecting with the flipping spinning neck breaker. The scene cuts back to Brown laying a series of right jabs to the cranium of the Lion followed by a discus clothesline. The scene taunts back and forth from the Tribe and the new tag team of Slymm and “the Skull Krusher.” Then the video cuts to the closing moments from Christmas Eve, when the Tribe and Brown and Slymm faced off in a tag team match. Lion has Rasche in a abdominal stretch, Navajo Warrior would charge into the ring striking Slymm and wait for the referee to prevent Slymm from getting into the ring, before taking over for the Lion and applying the abdominal stretch himself on the helpless Brown. This leads to the Slymm being fed up and the match turns into mayhem when Slymm starts attacking the referees and this match is just thrown out. The match is set for next week. The man who is “Keeping It Gangsta” and the “Skull Krusher” will be taking on the Hawaiian Lion and the Navajo Warrior.

Back to live action and we have the most unusual paring in Hollywood, Lucha Machine and the Manimal. They are taking on the undefeated Brandon Parker and Todd Chandler. A victory tonight should set them up for a match up with Natural Selection in the near future for the NWA Heritage Tag Team Championships. Chandler starts off with Lucha Machine. An interesting looking single leg takes down the Lucha Machine and Chandler locks on a side headlock, both men back to their feet. The Machine sends Chandler to the ropes and gets knocked down by Chandlers shoulder block. Chandler hits the ropes, blocks a hip toss by Lucha Machine and connects with one of his own, followed up with a second hip toss and a drop kick. Chandler with the tag and the duo double team Lucha Machine by sending him into the corner followed up with a flying leg strike to the chest of Lucha Machine, which is followed by Parker’s flying elbow smash. Parker waste no time connecting with a reverse spin kick to the midsection and follows that up with a knee lift and neck breaker comobo. Only good for a two count, Parker picks Lucha Machine back up makes the quick tag and a double drop kick by the duo, only good for a two count. Lucha Machine manages to get a shot to the lower midsection, and tags in the 300lbs. Manimal. Manimal attempts a lariat, blocked by Chandler who goes for an arm drag. Manimal with too much power lifts up Chandler for the side slam, only for Chandler to get his arm drag after all. Chandler works the arm bar and makes the quick tag to Parker. The duo send the Manimal to the ropes, followed by a double kick to the midsection, a double kick to the chest, and a mosh pit like double splash that shows little to no affect on the Manimal. A quick lariat sends Parker too the mat. Manimal sends Parker to his corner and now Parker is on the end of a double team between the odd couple. Manimal exposes the rips and Lucha Machine just puts the boots to Parker’s side. Lucha Machine body slams Parker with authority and drops the elbow only getting a two count. Parker’s mouth is busted open, which seems to set on a fire in side, Parker with back to back chops on Lucha Machine. Parker goes to the ropes only to be spine busted by the Machine. The Manimal is tagged back in and begins to work over the left arm of Parker. For some unfortunate reason it appears that Manimal was going to attempt a flying senton on Parker, completely missing the youngster. Parker manages to make the tag avoiding a clothesline from the Manimal. Chandler comes in and knocks the Machine to the floor. Chandler follows it up with a drop kick to the masked man and then a flapjack. Chandler then connects with a pair of knees to the chest of Lucha Machine that drives both men to the mat. The referee counts two, before the Manimal makes the save. Manimal make the mistake of diving for Parker, who drops down and sees Manimal hit the floor. Chandler connects with another set of knees and Parker tags in for the Warriors Way double foot stomp from the top rope to get the three count. Chandler and Parker take another progressive step towards the NWA Heritage Tag Team Championship Titles held by Natural Selection.

Back from commercial and Jeff Resnick is in the back with Ray Rosas, another face to watch for in 2011 in Hollywood. Rosas, who claims to be a future legend, insist that everyone learn how to pronounce his name. Roll the R. ROOOOOOSas! If you can’t roll your Rs, you better not try. Resnick doesn’t.

Next is a clip from November 19th when Joey Ryan is attacked by the other Joey, Joey Kaos. This was the attack that preceded the partnership between Avalon and Kaos. This would also mark the night, where “Pretty” Peter Avalon picking up his first victory in Hollywood, with help from Joey Kaos. Then we see the clip a week later on the 26th when the battles of the Joey finally took place. Avalon prevents Ryan from finishing off Kaos. The momentary distraction from “NWAvalon” is all Kaos needed to get his bearings and finishes of Joey. Now in the back, PPA with JK, in the NWA on Friday Baby. Avalon says Joey Ryan and Willie Mack can’t be the Standard. Kaos still trying to gloss himself as gorgeous says that him and Peter Avalon don’t give a damn about anyone or anything in the NWA. The Texas Tornado Match is next week. Even Marquez thinks all hell is going to break lose.

Scorpio Sky is in the back in his street clothes talking about Austin Aries. Sky says that Aries should be threatened. Sky trains every day. He should be intimidated. Sky describes Aries debut as stirring up dust, trying to bring attention to himself. “Why not take out one of the popular guys?” Sky is familiar with Aries repertory. Sky says Austin has his attention. Sky says he is going to punish Aries.

Back from commercial and Jeff Resnick is backstage with “The Megastar” Tommy Wilson. Another good pick up for the Hollywood show. Tommy Wilson says he should be referred to as “the Megastar.” Tommy was trained by Ken Shamrock, back when Shamrock was a somebody, which makes the Megastar the most dangerous man in the NWA.

Now we’re set for the main event. Scorpio Sky gets his shot at Austin Aries, after Aries laid him out weeks ago. This will be the first time these two have faced off in NWA Hollywood. Aries forces referee Chris Massie to hold the ropes for him as he enters the ring. There is no shortage of intensity in this one. On one side of the ring you have Scorpio Sky who is all business and the other is the man with the swagger, the bravado, but this will be his first real test to back up. Sky has gone toe-to-toe with Joey Ryan, Adam Pearce, and even in defeat has looked like a star. Aries might not have faced the same caliber names as Ryan and Pearce is undefeated in Hollywood. Aries meets Sky in the middle of the ring, but quickly backs into the corner with Sky connecting with a few closed fist until Massie breaks it up. Scorpio Sky is back at it, trying to get to Aries, but again “A-Double” cowers into the corner and Massie breaks it up again. Aries connects with a cheap shot that sends Sky to the mat. The shot blindsided Scorpio and Aries continues his closed fist attacks on Sky. Sky channeling his inner Brazilian Jiu Jitsu artist begins to strike with his legs while on his back. Aries takes a shot and stomps on Sky. Not even a second after Sky goes for the choke, a blatant disregard for the rules. Pulling up Sky by his ears, of all things, sends Sky into the corner, face first. Aries follows it up with a wicked reverse knife edge. The cocky Aries showboats for the crowd a bit, we see that swagger I alluded to earlier. Aries taunting the crowd, appears to be winding up for a big blow and, a finger to the eye of Sky, very reminiscent of the first match of the evening. Aries whips Sky into the corner, up and over is Sky avoiding Aries who charges in after. Sky leaps for a huricanrana, only to turn that into the arm-bar submission hold over the top rope. Massie begins to count, Scorpio takes it to the four. That was the game changer Sky needed. A quick double leg take down to a mounted position on Aries and sky is unloading on Aries. I’m noticing a much more aggressive Sky the past few weeks. Now its Sky laying into Aries in the corner followed up by a huge knee. Shoots Aries to the opposite corner and connects with a Stinger’s Splash, follows it up with a three-quarter nelson take down and a drop kick the head that stuns the former ROH World Champion. Irish whip by Sky, reversed by Aries, Sky hangs on to the rope, Aries charges, and Sky tosses him through the middle ropes to the outside, if he went over the top Sky would have been DQ. Sky leaps over the top, but “A Double” ducks into the ring, leaving Sky to fall to the floor. Aries attempt to dive on to Sky, but also misses when Sky moves out of the way.

Now stalking his prey, sensing the moment is right, the “King of Sting” grabs Aries and slams him into the ring apron. Aries dazed stumbles around ring side, Scorpio follow. Sky laying into Aries on the outside as the ref continues the count. Aries is on the receiving end of Scorpio Sky’s mid-match snack, bitting into “A Double’s” forehead. Sky taking a minute to spit out the country flavor gives Aries just enough time to receive a foot into the mid-section of Sky. Aries licks his hand to connect with a chop, but doesn’t and instead hits the ringside railing as Sky ducks the shot. Now Sky chops away. Aries slides into the ring, with Sky following. Aries rolls outside and Sky takes aim, a baseball kick from Sky nearly takes off Aries head. Sky follows him out and begins to beat on the forehead of Aries. Aries breaks the count by rolling in and then out of the ring. Sky throws Aries into the ring guard, outside the ring. Referee Chris Massie, being very relaxed on his calling of the match. Sky charges Aeries and a back body drop sends Sky down the aisle of the front row. Aries knocks him back to the ground. Aries leaps from the top on to Sky with a double axe-handle. Sky is now tossed back over the ring barrier. Sky crawls into the ring and now Aries looks in control. Sky’s down, Aries off the ring apron with a rolling senton. Following it up by boxing Sky’s ears and then hits those trademarked elbow drops, into a cover, only gets a two count. Aries drags Sky to his feet with a three-quarter nelson and forces him to the ground, only to connect with a running elbow drop to the lower back region of Sky. And this is what Aries does, dissecting his opponents, Aries gets a a two count, with out wrapping the leg. Aries ties up Sky in a maneuver that nearly gets him a two count. Aries takes the time to jaw-jock with the crowd. Sky is trying to get himself to the ropes. Aries pulls Sky, who is now on the ring apron to his feet, teasing the reverse neck breaker. Sky battles out and now they are jockeying for position, Sky lands the flying head scissors and Aries just shrugs him off and counters with an elbow. And continues with one of his “HEY” Elbows. He stomps the hand and face of Sky. Aries starts to lock in the Figure 8 and Sky fights it off with everything he has. He breaks free and a dangerous looking kick to Aries leg. Followed by a second kick and a brain kick that causes Aries to stumble all the way to the outside. Aries is dazed, Sky criss-crosses the ropes, a huge Somersault Plancha.

Back from commercial, Aries is in the ring, Sky is on the apron. Sky connects with a leaping head scissors take down. Sky kicks Aries in the mid-section, bounces of the second rope with a dive on Aries, only a two count. Sky sets up Aries for the TKO and Aries fights out and delivers a back rake on Sky. Aries goes for a knee-breaking atomic drop on Sky, but Sky leaps over Aries into a roll up, only good for two. Sky ducks a clothesline and goes for a backslide pin attempt, Aries slips through and kicks Sky right in the dome. Aries connects with a exploding side suplex. Aries now sizing up Sky, dropkick in the corner, brain buster, and pulls up Sky at two. Aries going to the top rope, who takes his time looking for the 450 splash, Sky ducks, Aries on his feet. Sky with the go behind, and steals the three with a roll up. Aries is infuriated. Sky looks worse for wear, but he is the victor. Aries chases out Sky and later the referee. Aries yells at the camera that, it was a fluke. You can tell this one isn’t over, but this weeks episode is.

Heavyweight title defense against ACH and was counted out. Tiring NWA

NWA SW – WoW

Christmas Carnage
VFW Post 8905 – Cypress, TX
Friday December 10, 2010

Pre Show

Pre show match: Hambone defeated Grande Rojo.

Christmas Carnage Begins

The Name That Entertains, NWA Texas Jr. Heavyweight Champion Jasper Davis, started off the show by telling the crowd that he was off for the night. He bragged about beating WoW Cruiserweight Champion ACH at the previous show. At Breakdown in November 2010, Jasper left the ring during NWA Texas Jr. Heavyweight title defense against ACH and was counted out. Tiring of Jaspers false claims, ACH came to the ring and challenged Jasper to a title versus title match. Jasper declined again citing that he was off for the night. Plus, Jasper informed ACH that he was done wrestling cruiserweights and wanted to wrestle heavyweights now. ACH said he could do whatever Jasper could do and suggested that he will pick an opponent for Jasper to wrestle and in turn, Jasper could pick his opponent. Jasper agreed.

Match 1
Ricky Douglas defeated The Clown in a career versus dress match. Douglas had a little help from Silky Baines who accompanied him to the ring. As a result of the loss, the Clown has agreed to retire and unmasked after the match. The entire WoW locker room came to the ring to show their respects to the Clown who turned to be famous Texas wrestler Dusty Wolfe. Had the Clown defeated Douglas, Douglas would have had to wrestle WoW in a dress. When the tribute to Wolfe concluded, Douglas addressed the fans and suggested that everyone in the WoW locker room start taking him serious.

Promo
WoW Outlaw Champion Scot Summers paid tribute to Dusty Wolfe, the Clown. Summers said that since Dusty was now retired, he would look to the WoW locker room for his next victim.who he would retire. Jaykus Plisken, Chaz Taylor, Silky Baines and Jen-Alise were among the WoW superstars Summers singled out. Summers went on to promise destruction of the entire WoW locker room.

Match 2
Jasper Davis handpicked opponent, Jaykus Plisken, wrestled ACH to a time limit draw. In a match that many in attendance thought worthy of consideration as WoW match of the year, Plisken and ACH battled to a 10 minute time limit draw. Plisken then asked for 5 more minutes, ACH agreed. Again they wrestled to a time limit draw. Plisken then unexpectedly offered his hand to ACH in a show of respect.

Match 3
Chris Lee, who was chosen by ACH to face Jasper Davis, defeated Davis via count out. As he did the month prior in his match against ACH,once Davis had enough of his opponent, Davis exited the ring, grabbed his belt and headed to the locker room conceding a count out.

Match 4
Barbi Hayden defeated Jen-Alise to become the new WoW Women Champion. The two ladies had battled to a time limit draw the previous month. This match presented Barbi last shot at Jen’s title. With less than 30 seconds remaining, Barbi jumped of the top rope and attempted to roll up Jen. Instead, Jen-Alise reversed the move and attempted a pin of her own on Hayden. Barbi then quickly reversed the move on Jen-Alise and secured a three count just before time expired. Upset by dropping her belt to Hayden, Jen Alise verbally attacked the fans, especially those who showed support for Hayden during the match. Jen swore revenge and told the crowd they had not seen the last of her for the evening.

Match 5
WoW and NWA Texas Tag Team Champions, Impeccable (Ken Carson and Joey Diamond), defeated the Crusaders to successfully defend their WoW titles in a rematch for the straps. Impeccable captured the belts from the Crusaders at WoWs Warzone 3 in October 2010. When the match was over, the Crusaders congratulated Impeccable and told the crowd they were proud of them for being worthy and respectful champions.

Match 6
Solid Gold Greg Symonds retained the WoW Heavyweight Championship against Chaz Taylor via disqualification. During the match Mr. Showtime Scot Summers came to ring side and struck Symonds in the head with a metal brief case. Summers then tossed the brief case to Chaz. The referee did not see this sequence of action due to being out of position. The official disqualified Taylor after he heard the brief case strike Symonds and then saw Chaz holding it.

Match 7
Silky Baines outlasted the entire WoW locker room in the annual over the top rope Christmas rumble to become the new WoW Outlaw Champion. WoW superstars were randomly selected to enter the rumble once every minute. Silky Baines and defending WoW Outlaw Champion Scot Summers drew the first two positions and began the match. Baines and Summers agreed to an impromptu alliance and decided to work together against the remaining entrants. This strategy lead to Summers and Baines being the final two participants remaining in the rumble. The order of entry and elimination of the remaining superstars was as follows: Hambone entered, Cupid entered, Ricky Douglas entered, Crusader entered, ACH entered, Joey Diamond entered, Jasper Davis entered, Ken Carson entered, Crusader eliminated, Cupid eliminated, Crusader Lock entered, Ricky Douglas eliminated, Ken Carson eliminated, David Stahr entered, Crusader Lock eliminated, Joey Diamond eliminated, Grande Rojo entered, ACH eliminated (by Jasper), Jasper Davis eliminated, David Stahr eliminated, Cyclope Jr. entered, Jaykus Plisken entered, Chris Lee entered, Cyclope Jr. eliminated, Jen-Alise entered, Big Chris entered, Chris Lee eliminated, Grande Rojo eliminated, Big Chris eliminated, Jen-Alise was eliminated after taking slams from Summers and Plisken, Jaykus Plisken eliminated and then Hambone was eliminated leaving Summers and Baines. The two men battled until WoW Heavyweight Champion Greg Symonds made his way to ring side. Baines became the new WoW Outlaw Champion when Summers leaped over the top rope on to Symonds thus eliminating himself. Summers, in a fit of uncontrollable rage, attacked Symonds. It took a cavalry of wrestlers wielding steel chairs to chase off Summers. Before leaving the ring area, Summers promised he would defeat Symonds at Next Level on January 14, 2011 for the WoW Heavyweight Title and his=20
boots. Then Summers sent the crowd to the exits with a creepy version of We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
enged Jasper
