JIM ROSS BLOGS ABOUT HIS FRIEND AND MENTOR SKANDOR AKBAR

Posted August 21st, 2010 by Bob Ryder

Jim Ross is among the many people in the wrestling business paying tribute to the late Skandor Akbar this weekend.  In an update on his website, Ross remembers his longtime friend and mentor with a touching blog that talks about his early days in the business traveling with Akbar and Danny Hodge.

Ross tells a story about Akbar wrestling a tryout match against The Great Bolo that was refereed by Bill Watts.  During the match Akbar was caught with a sucker punch that broke his nose.  Rather than retaliate, Akbar finished the match and in the process proved his toughness.  Ross also writes about giving Akbar a hand written note from Steve Austin at the recent NWA Legends event in Charlotte.  Ross talks about being thankful for having the opportunity to see Akbar one last time at the Legends event.
